Response to Briain I 8/13/2014

Brian I.: The Kennel is a training facility that promotes responsible pet ownership. Owner’s wife checked in their #120 lbs. German Shepherd for the first time and did not reveal any attack training history. It took 20 minutes and senior staff to move the dog from a play yard to a secure run without getting bit. Because the behavior of the dog was extreme, we immediately called the owner and asked for more information about their pet. Owner said his dog was attack trained a long time ago. We explained that his dog was behaving aggressively. We explained to the owner that his dog would be safe and secure, but we would not be doing any playtimes or bathing during his stay (neither of which is required). Owner chose to leave the dog for two weeks. When owner’s wife picked up the dog, she was told that we could not provide any future services due to our non-aggressive policy. She was also reminded of the liability and courtesy to share information about the dog with other pet professi more

Unfortunately my German Shepard is a regular at kennels across the country. I have never had a worse experience in her 9 years of life as I did here. She was punished for being Shitzhund trained and left in a run for a week straight. Her kennel was washed and sprayed down while she was in there being covered by her own feces. The kennels understanding of higher training is an embarrassment to all dog owners. The more training a dog has the better control you can have over them. Absolute worst care she has ever had. more

Thank You for taking care of Mike 9/10/2011

Thank you for everything you did for Mike. I brought him for daycare a couple of years ago as an act of desperation while I got the bathroom remodeled. Mike needed to stay out of the way while the contractors worked. I remember he came home the first afternoon and just crashed. I felt so guilty, but when I picked up his leash the next morning and said ?let?s go? he jumped up, ran to the back door and pointed at the door knob! He couldn?t wait to go, and I couldn?t remember the last time he was so excited about anything. Then, I noticed changes in his personality over the next few weeks. He seemed more cheerful and outgoing. When the bathroom was finished and we stopped coming, he seemed depressed, so I brought him back twice a week. You gave him something to look forward to, you helped him adjust to his ramp, and you probably extended his life expectancy. So, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. more

Lots of room 6/22/2011

I live in the city with a small back yard. Country Acres is huge with acres for my dog to run, play and go swimming. He comes home as tired as I do. I gained weight on my trip... I think Shiner lost a little... We will definately be going back. more

Highly Recommended 6/1/2011

This is a family owned/family run business, and the owners are extremely involved. I truly get the sense that they care about your pets because they care about their own. From calling around to check prices, this place does seem to beat those of other local kennels. The runs and pens are nice sizes, and the areas in which they have to run and play are just unmatchable - huge. I'm sure a lot of kennels only offer walking for potty breaks, so I don't mind paying $5 extra for 2 hrs of play time. Not to mention the amazing grooming deal that you can add on. It's almost worth it just for the grooming savings. I'm about to board my dog here for the third time because of our good experiences. Their are kennels much closer to my house, but I drive out of my way for this place. more

Tasha loves Country Acres! 2/9/2011

Our 2 year old Golden Retriver has stayed a few times before, but last week she was there during the big freeze. After the second day, I was certain she was safe and happy and quit calling to check on her. When we picked her up 6 days later, we were given two pictures of her playing in the snow with other dogs. I should have known they would have a snow party - they have a dog party for everything! more

Reality Check 11/30/2010

When you visit this establishment make sure you look at everything very very carefully. Look behind all the closed doors.\r Remember the saying "doen't believe everything you hear and only half of what you see". Listen very carefully to the words that are used in your conversation. I too had a pet die at this establishment during the spring of 2010. My dog was 9 year old standard Schnauzer that had just been to the vet prior to her visit and the vet said she was in perfect health. I should have realized when I saw dogs standing in water in the kennel runs that this was not a good sign. To many times we humans forget that our pets are one of our family members. Do not be fooled more

MY DOG TOLD ME WHAT HE THOUGHT 9/13/2010

Just wanted to let people know that we are very pleased with CAK Services. We went to Puppy School at the facility. We then boarded out Lab for the first time, when we went on vacation for a week in July . He was really tired when he got home and I was wondering why, if he got enough sleep, if he was too freaked out, he is only a puppy. Well, I took him back this week for day care becuase it was flooding and we lost electrcitry and I got my answer. He has never gotten out of the car on his own, We have a high SUV, and we were worried that he was wimp or that he was afraid of heights . We pulled up to the facility and he leaped out the car without missing a beat and wagged his tail. He pulled me into the office and knew which door to go back in. He was so happy to be there. When we picked him up at the end of the day, he looked like a kid that had gone to camp for the day- He was exhausted and dirty, just the way you want them to be. THANKS. more

I love this place! 8/20/2010

I am a single guy withe a dog and a crazy schedule and I love this place! They have everything, know everthing, and always steer me in the right direction regarding what my dog needs. I also appreciate how they always get us in with little or no notice due to my work schedule. They do advise, and we all laugh about needing reservations on holidays. This really is a great dog place. more

My dogs love it here 8/19/2010

I have taken my two dogs (one small and one large) to the kennel now three times over the summer. When I first called and they said that I problably couldn't keep my dogs together due to their size difference I was disappointed, but they encouraged me to go and take a tour to see everything. It is set up great for my dogs' different sizes, and I know they have had as good a time as I have on my trip. The dogs actually get excited in the car when we arrive. Thanks again, and look forward to seeing everyone again next year. more

BDB 8/17/2010

I've boarded my dog here 3 times, and will continue to use Country Acres.\r The place is clean, the service is great, and the staff really cares about your pet! The cost is reasonable - actually it's very good considering the care my dog gets! My dog loves it there. \r \r When it was cold, I asked if my JRT could be brought inside if the nightime temp got below 40, and they did it! When it was hot outside, they have mister systems to keep the temperature reasonable. Because JRT's are rather active, she gets an extra one-on-one play time for a very reasonable price.\r \r I appreciate the fact that they require current vet papers to make sure my dog isn't next to a sick dog with something contagious.\r \r I highly recommend Country Acres to anyone that wants to board their dog!!! more

Our one and only experience with Country Acres kennel 8/16/2010

Our one and only experience with Country Acres kennel.\r We got Jojo from a rescue shelter 6 years ago. He had been found in a junk yard with his left eye mangled. His eye was removed and the lid sewed shut. When i saw him, he was shivering, scared and trying to be brave. I took him and he was the sweetest dog, he just wanted to be close to you. Just with his look you knew he loved you. Two years ago, he got very sick and almost died and was diagnosed with Addison's disease. To live he would have to take a steriod shot every month and Prednisone if needed, he has done well since. \r \r Needing a kennel for my two Chihuahuas, i searched the yellow pages and internet for locations. I visited a number of kennels and thought the La Pitite Class for puppies under 20 pounds sounded like a good program. More freedom and social interaction with other dogs. Tour and paper work were done for a 13 day visit. I talked to staff about symptoms that would require prednisone if needed, the instruc more

Great place! 8/13/2010

Great place!\r My dog, Mike, goes to Country Acres every week for day care. He loves it! Great staff- very animal friendly and knowledgeable. more

It reminds me of a sad dog pound 5/11/2010

This place is horrible. They keep dogs outside during the blistering cold-- even during the snowiest winter in recorded DFW history.\r \r When I questioned them, they said, "Oh... they're dogs. They're built for that." \r \r Not if those dogs are used to being inside all the time. The owners who keep their dogs at the outdoor kennels might as well chain their dogs in their own yards when they're gone.\r \r I should be fair and say that when I moved to Arlington, I was used to taking my dogs to a luxury dog boarding facility. This is NOT luxury dog boarding.\r \r They are stainless steel kennels that they spray out with water hoses. (The indoor AND outdoor kennels.)\r \r You have to pay extra for them to take your dogs outside the kennel just ONCE a day. Otherwise they're stuck in that sad, clinical, stinky kennel 24 hours a day. Poor things!\r \r I'm sure a lot of people don't mind if their dogs are in kennels like that, but my dogs are my kids, and I will never go back to this Kennel. more

A terrific place to leave your dog. 2/6/2010

I have taken my dogs here after trying several other "full service" kennels in the area. None of them have the space to let the dogs run like this kennel does and they get the outside excersise that they need to be healthy. The staff here is very dedicated to the dogs and really know each and every dog that boards there. more

Duke says CAK is a class act 1/18/2010

Country Acres is class act. I have been using the daycare, boarding and training services for nearly three years. The facilities are excellent for my large dog who gets alot of excercise with large play and training fields. They are strict in regards to vacinations which protect all the guests. The kennels are always kept clean. The staff are professional and very helpful especially for a new dog owner. The best testament to CAK is Duke my lab / dane mix who gets excited when we turn down the lane to the club and drags me in the front door. Thanks to CAK for adding to the quality of life for both Duke and me. more

What a crock 12/17/2009

I have heard great things about this Kennel, and was very excited to board my dogs for the Holiday, even though it was obviously overpriced. Imagine my surprise when I was told that the Kennel would not "allow" me to board my dogs there unless I came, at a separate time without my dogs, during very specific and limited business hours, to take a tour. I would also be "required" to come by ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS so that I could drop off the dogs' medical records. As I was not able to do this (because I have a JOB) , I was not "allowed" to board my dogs there. For those of you who are looking for a convenient option for dog boarding, this is NOT it! If you would like to be interviewed and jump through hoops for the pleasure of overpaying for boarding, then have fun, and don't feel like too much of a sucker. After all, County Acres Kennels is doing a FAVOR FOR YOU! more

Country Acres Kennels is the best 10/29/2009

I board my dog there as well as having sent him through the training program and I believe that this is the best care there is anywhere in the country. I have boarded dogs at other facilites as I have moved around the country and have found Country Acres to be the best. Unlike a lot of other Kennels where you drop off the pet at the front desk, they have an open door policy and encourage you to see where your pet is boarding and the activities that they participate in. more

Demotivating 4/3/2009

I noticed that during a consultation with a trainer, how demotivating she could be. She was absolutely greedy. I am not sure if this kennel is bad, but certainly, if they have such employees (Trainers) who are rude and so very sales minded, it anyways creates an impression for the kennel. My experience was negative with this lady trainer who mentioned that I either get involved with their most expensive program or find a new home for my dog. She also mentioned that my dog is coming with a package of bad behaviours. Well....she fails to understand that my dog is 3 months old and is still in the puppy stage. "No dog is bad" Very important is that we dog owners go for training since we need help in raising the dog to be a member of our family and not to get demotivated or to get ripped off. She had no manners and was taking advantage of me being the "first time dog owner" more
