The level of product knowledge, industry trend, product selection and customer service at Cosmetic Market is far superior to Sephora. I moved back to Nashville from New York City last year. In Manhattan, Sephora is THE store for all cosmetics, skincare and fragrances. I used to go into a Sephora at least once a week, sampling a different makeup or perfume every time. Cosmetic Market is a fair approximation of Sephora but is not as user-friendly. They do have a wide selection of great lines -- Stila, fresh, Bobbi Brown -- but the presentation is kind of crowded and mixed up. The store is a little small for the quantity of product that's crammed in there. The open metal shelving they use is cool and current, but it's visually overwhelming to see all of that stuff on open shelves. And Sephora gathers products by line, whereas Cosmetic Market seems to group more by product -- skincare, fragrance, bath, etc. The service is very friendly, and you can sample everything in the store. So it's definitely worth a visit. more
