My wife and I just had a son. It's difficult leaving him in the care of anyone who is not a family member. But when we visited and interviewed the owner of Cooper's Cribs we knew that this was the place for our newborn son.
The woman who runs the "crib" was a teacher who had decided to stay home and watch her son. Since her income was gone and her husband was a teacher too, she decided to supplement it by watching her teacher-friend's children as well. After a while, her friends talked to other friends and word spread that this was the place to put your kids if you wanted personal and motherly attention paid to them.
As I mentioned, the woman who runs the place was a teacher before she retired to watch her and her friend's (who are mostly teachers as well) kids. She taught for 7 years and before that she worked in a daycare center for 5 years. She has a degree in nutrition and used her degree to work at a nursing home to take care of elderly patients. As you can see, she has an extensive background in childcare and/or child related experience. We really felt good about her background when we interviewed her.
Because she works out of her home, she does not have too many spaces open, so call as soon as you think you may need a good daycare center for your child.
The only negative is that she only watches newborns to preschool aged children. She doesn't do school pick ups or watch children who are in K-5. I'm not sure what the cut off age is, but I know she doesn't watch middle school and some or most elementary school kids. Uhm...call her and ask her, I'm not sure exactly how accurate I am on this information.
