All True 6/3/2011

Everything everyone else has said is true. I have lived here for 2 years. I am moving out Tuesday and it can't come soon enough. Aside from all the other complaints, there is the matter of safety. Yesterday, there was a three alarm fire in the units across from me. Three homes were destroyed. If i could post the pictures I would as a warning to people considering this place. There are no fire walls between the homes, so if a fire were to start in one it could potentially damage yours, And this was not a one time event. It has happened twice in 6 months!!! The first was an electrically fire that damaged 3 or 4 units and the second was a fire of unknown origin that started when no one was home, also destroying 3 units.. Rumors are that it started from the AC unit which is on the balcony. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!!! if they were to give this place a total overhaul, redo everything, and put firewalls between the units, there would still be issues with this place. more

DON'T DO IT! 4/15/2011

It is all true! All the bad things, that is. Especially the gas bill charges. We have been getting bills from a questionable company called ISTA, charging us ridiculous gas charges. Apparently ISTA has a contract with the owners of the complex and they team up to rip-off residents. They even include ISTA in the lease. Be careful when signing leases. We weren't and now we're learning the hard way. We can hear our neighbors doing the do because the walls are so thin. The floors also creak so much that we can't check on our sleeping newborn without him jumping and waking up. One day I smelled smoke so strong that I thought the house was on fire. After 2 months of living here our bathroom door wouldn't close, our shower rod broke, our shower head stopped working, our toilet upstairs started leaking and our toilet downstairs wouldn't flush. The people who say they like it here need to raise their standards. As for us, 6 months down, 6 months to go. more

AWFUL MANAGEMENT!!!!!!!! 1/25/2010

the other posts are correct; horrible flooring, second hand smoke, dirty old units, never repair things properly or in a timely manor. worst of all they try to rip you off every chance they get! they keep sending us bogus charges for things even after we have moved out!!!! they are going to ruin our credit! dont get mixed up in this awful place! Pros: moving out!!!!!! Cons: everything! more

BEWARE 4/26/2009

I had read a review before moving in so I was a bit nervous. The review had stated that gas was ""all together"" I asked about this before moving in and was assured that the townhomes are all individually metered. This IS NOT the case. I called the gas company after receiving my first bill and was told that the complex is on a master meter and that they can divide the charges as they see fit. I inquired because I always kept our heat set at 65 or below...it really didn't matter because they temperature never got above 63 no matter how high you set it, and my gas charges were through the roof. I had one month when I hadn't turned the heat on yet and got a gas bill for $75.00. When I asked they said it was an estimated bill because they couldn't read the meter that month. It was the only time we ever got an estimated bill....and there was NO meter to read. After moving out they kept $460.00, out of my security deposit for 2 1/2 months gas charges and 3 weeks of that the heat was turned completely off because we had moved out. Pros: I honestly can't think of one. Cons: rent is too high, heat barely works, floors sag, ants etc... more

HIGH HEATING BILLS...and much more 12/30/2008

OUTRAGEOUS HEATING BILLS!!!!!! Whenever someone in your section of home moves out and is vacant, they split the cost of the heat for that place amongst the other tenants. My husband works with the former leasing agent. Whenever someone moves out they switch a button and then it goes on your bill. We keep our heat 68-70 all winter. We had a bill as high as $292.00 last winter!!!!! Expect to pay over 200 bucks for heat in January, February and March. The gas goes through a third party and there are very fishy charges on your bill! If you are non-smoker..STAY AWAY!!! Our house smells of stale smoke...and 50% of the time fresh smoke because it pours through the vents and out from under the sink. If you are lucky to have neighbors who don't smoke, you wont have this problem. But we can't even open our windows in the summer and spring and fall because our neighbors are blowing second-hand smoke in our windows! Aside from all of this stuff, we really like the lay-out. THe last person who said that the balcony isn't safe..IS RIGHT!! Our second floor sinks in the middle as well. They keep having to replace our bathroom tile becuase it keep cracking because of the faulty flooring. They don't fix it, they just come in and replace the tile...a month later..back again!. We are currently waiting for a new dishwasher because ours is broken. We have now waited 4 weeks..and no sign. We've called twice and politely asked when we were going to get our new dishwasher. NO reply...not even one to say we've recieved your call. Yeah, the rent might be acceptable, but the heating makes up for it. Better to go witha more expensive newer place to garrantee the cheaper heating bill. Overall...we wish we didn't live here!!!! Oh yeah and if you need maintanance to come, they knock once and if you don't answer, they'll just come in. So if your showering and don't answer the door, beware, you might have a maintenance man greeting you in your towel! Pros: nice lay-out Cons: high heating bills, smoking neighbors, faulty flooring more

AVOID AT ALL COST!!!! 4/2/2008

RENTER BEWARE!!!!!!!! more

Its about average, location is great, management is great, parking *ucks, but overall its worth it! 8/6/2007

Ok, where I am staying was just remodled recently before I moved in. With that being said I think its in great shap in the inside. The outside could use a makeover just to make the tenants feel a little better about where they live! =: ) But hey its what you make about the inside that counts. Parking is a 3 out of 10 if you show up after 8pm. I would say that the 1BR apartments are about $50-100 overprices in my opinion. Pros: LOCATION, UPGRADED MODELS ARE GREAT! Cons: PARKING, OUTSIDE APPEARANCE more

Fair 4/10/2007

Lived here for over a year. The people in the office are more than helpful. The walls are paper thin, but for the price you pay for these townhouses, its the best value for the price. I would hardly call these places ""slums."" The only issue I ever had was last summer I had a slight ant problem, but the office had an exterminator out the next day after my complaint. New windows and sliding glass doors while we lived here, and all new applicances make this place worth it. I'm going to miss living here once I move out. Pros: Well-lit, felt safe. Cons: Parking and moving was horrible while trying to walk up and down some of the stairs more

DO NOT LIVE HERE 1/19/2007

ugh...central park..welcome to the slums..horrible, horrible living conditions here and the staff is very NOT helpful. I live beside the most disrespectful, ignorant, noisy people in the world. The psycho son lurks around the neighborhood just creeping everyone out. The staff does nothing about this...apparently it is acceptable to them. There is much vandalism here also. When you call the staff to complain , or the police to complain, they all do nothing. You DO NOT want to live here. Cheap living, but you get what you pay for. Pros: CHEAP Cons: HORRIBLE NEIGHBORHOOD THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SUBJECTED TO. more

Stay away from this townhouse! 1/8/2007

Thankfully my tenure at Central Park Townhomes was short lived. By the end of the first month I was anxious to escape. Upon moving in the entire place reeked of smoke. Within a week or two there was an ant infestation coming out of the carpets. The management is not responsive to tenant needs and charges exorbient amounts of money for random fees...especially upon moving out. Weeks before I was finally able to move out a swarm of flying ants set up camp. They were everywhere coming out of the walls in the kitchen, bathrooms and stairs. It was just gross! The architecture is failing and the second floor sags in the middle. It caused my dresser mirror to topple...thankfully not to break! The patio is by no means safe to hold weight....with warped wood and unsafe railings. The air conditioner did not work well and made a huge racket when it did come on. The only saving grace to this townhouse was the updated appliances and responsive maintenance staff. I would not recommend this complex to anyone. Although it is cheap...it should be even cheaper for the horrible conditions. more
