money hungry 10/21/2010

My cat was diagnosed with diabetes recently and she had to be put on insulin. Well, with insulin you have to take your pet back to the clinic to have her blood glucose checked once a week until the glucose level is back to normal again, which was fine. But every time we walked in they would charge us for an office visit as well as medical waste disposal on top of the fee for checking her blood sugar whether we saw the dr. or not!!! This was outrageous!!!!!!! When I finally asked the office manager about the office visit charge every time she got really irritated and was more than happy to transfer my cats records to another office. After more than 11 years of being their client with my 2 cats, they were happy to get rid of me for asking why I was being charged an office visit every time I walked in to their clinic!!! But in the end, it all worked out for the best. I found Rocky Gorge animal hospital in Laurel, MD. The entire staff are so nice and friendly and the owner truly cares about the animals and not just their owners wallet. They don't charge you office visit for every time you walk in to their clinic and they even offered to dispose of the syringes that I'm using for my cat's injections all free of charge. Take my advice and look for other veterinary clinics in your area. I'm sure you can find one better than cat & dog hospital of columbia! more

Best Vets at a Great Price for Pets and Rescues 8/14/2010

I'm with Dachshund Rescue of North America and I've have been taking my personal pets and rescued dachshunds to the Cat & Dog Hospital for five years now. They have always worked with me to give our rescue great prices and great service. Their surgery and dentistry prices can't be touched by anyone in this area. I know because I've made a lot of phone calls getting estimates. I left my overpriced vet in Ellicott City because they wouldn't even give me a 10% discount on services for my foster dogs. I have nothing but respect for the vets and staff at the Hospital. These are people who give back to the community and don't charge the outrageous prices that others do. Many of the dogs I bring to them are older with many health problems. The vets are so kind to these little senior citizens that it is very touching. I wouldn't ever think of going anywhere else. I could tell you story after story of their kindness to me and my dogs. They are like my extended family because they are always there when I need them. Always! So if you want excellent care at reasonable prices , a choice of four excetional vets anda caring staff , I highly recommend the Hospital. You will not be disappointed. more

Caring vets 1/10/2010

We've had multiple pets cared for by the doctors in this group and have never had a complaint. Our current pets include a geriatric dog (who's been a regular visitor), two middle-aged cats, and recently, a young kitty who sadly passed away from FIP after several bouts of illness. These doctors have been wonderful about calling back when we have questions or concerns, fitting us in when our kitty would take sick, and during her last bout of illness, taking us in after working hours to treat her. they do get quite busy and we've had several longish waits to be seen, but I've never felt rushed through an appointment. They have my vote and my confidence. more

THIS VET DOES NOT SUPPORT SPAY/NEUTER RESCUE 12/5/2009

I helped a stray cat when she had kittens. When they were old enough,I called this vet to see what the rescue discount rate would be since I was working with a local rescue group to get them adopted. They had the gall to qoute $100 per female/85 per male!!! They said that this WAS the discount and that they regularly charged $300 per female. THIS IS A BALL FACED LIE!!! I have had cats altered there before for WAY less than $100. They are just trying to get full retail by 'claiming' that their reg prices are higher. People like me who try to help strays cannot afford to spend 500-600 dollars to spay/neuter and feels like being punished for trying to help. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS VET EVER AGAIN!!!!!! ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE GOING TO TREAT THOSE WHO RESCUE ANIMALS AS IDIOTS!!!! more

Nightmare for animal/pet lovers! 11/12/2009

The vet always was in a rush with every appt. and each animal I brought in for what I was hoping to be great care. She was already walking out the door as I was still asking a question about a concern, when I would follow up with a phone call (in place of the vet's "I will call you with results" and never did), she consistently confused my animals treatments. My cat was misdiagnosed with kidney disease and was put on several medications per the vets recommendations. We moved out of state and I took my cat to the vet due to labored breathing and poor appetite. After blood work and xrays, my cat is seriously ill with heart failure--NO KIDNEY DISEASE!!! My cat is in very poor health and most likely developed this condition from one of the meds this vet put my cat on. My cat's days are limited and I would never recommend this vet to anyone!!! more

vets who care about your pets 9/12/2005

Searching for a vet in Columbia to spay our kitten, we found one hospital that insisted we bring her in for shots, take her home, then bring her back the next week for the spaying! She would've been miserable, she's a skittish, nervous thing. Then we called Cat and Dog Hospital, which a.) agreed that taking her back and forth would be inhumane, and b.) said they could take care of everything at once, and return her to us the same night. They did a wonderful job, she didn't seem to be in any pain, she healed well, and we had no problems. We'll definitely keep using them. more
