Ok I have never in my life written a review, but I decided to take the time to warn people about this apartment complex. I have lived at Captiva Club for about 2 years. My first complaint is that their website is a 100% false advertisement, the pools the yard ""picnic area"" (that I HAVE NEVER SEEN"", the apartments, the gym look nothing like what they have on there website. The pools are cracked infested with bugs they do not clean them. I have never seen a picnic area and I walk around the complex everyday. the apartments are poorly constructed and infested with termites and roaches. the walls are dirty, the carpets are stained and the air condition systems are always needing maintenance, the gym is overly cluttered with equipment and half of the equipment doesn't work they are all outdated. The yards are poorly kept, it takes them forever to mow them, and there is dog poop everywhere, i cant let my children run outside because of all the dog poop. Most of the residents don't keep their dogs on leashes when they walk them. the maintenance crew are nice but speak horrible English and everythime that they come out to fix something we are given no details of the problem or even if the problem has been fixed. Our AC unit was broken and they kept having to fix it for 2 months straight they cam e out every week to try to fix the problem, in the meantime we were being charged for our ac that was running constantly and would not shut off when we turned the ac off just when the breaker was off....so for 2 months we were charged for a problem the maintenance was not able to fix and instead of replacing the unit they just kept ""band aiding it we were told that we would be reimbursed for the charges on the electricity bill, but when they sent it to cooperate they denied being responsible for the charges. the problem was that the ac was cooling the house to 68 degrees even when we have it set to 75. IT is a poor apartment complex and these complaint are not just from me they are the same problems and complaints i hear from my neighbors. Please save your money and pick a better place. more

It smells here. Maintenence responds with a lack of efficiency and enthusiasm. The pools are unhealthy at best. There is dog poo here. Everywhere. The residents are mostly friendly, but I get the sense not all is well here. There are lots of late owls roaming the grounds, some quite suspiciously, and many are not familiar faces at all. I have seen the sheriff here three times on calls. There was also a police helicopter hovering above the lot for about an hour here last week. No idea why because we locked the doors. The odor is swampy and foul. It is a shame. It has lots of potential. I dont care about the inconsistency of whether the gates are unlocked and open or working, but it is another symptom that something is amiss. It is very buggy, outside and inside. Location is good. Basically, it comes down to this:they do the least possible to make it decent. Perhaps what they fail to realize is that they would be much more profitable if they would just get involved. I called for a service appointment at my car dealership yesterday and within a half an hour the manager called me back to confirm the appointment - to let me know he is available if there are any questions (nice personal touch)- and to see if there was anything he could do to facilitate my appointment (loaner car, scheduling, etc). You will not find this here, management is working with one and a half hands tied behind their back and have no vested interest. I am bummed because everyone said I would enjoy living in Tampa. I have been living at Captiva Club Apt for almost 2 yrs. The 1st 6 months were ok, I guess just getting settled in. Now this is the worst place I have EVER lived and I lived in the projects.. (West Tampa Housing) and was treated better than what I go threw here. I do not have any pets yet I have mutant flees that will not die. I am in a 1bd/1bth. I have a wash and dryer that the dryer does not work, I am not being charged for it but using it makes my electric bill double since in order to dry a small load of close I have to dry them about 3 xs on the hotest cycle at 50 minute each time. my A/C unit is old and it takes all night to cool off to about 70. Calling the office you are greeted with nothing but atittude on and off the phones. The staff does not care about what happens. The manager is ok but she needs a new staff. I will not be renewing my lease with them unless some better and cheaper terms can be reached. I have lived at Captiva Club Apt. since early this summer of 2007. At the time, the apartment manager was great and so wonderful to work with. Anything you needed, he was right there. The staff was also very understanding and cooperative, always willing to help. Recently, I found out that the manager left Capitva - apparently he and his staff are all gone. Ever since the management/staff change, my utility bills have risen 3 times over what they used to be, and the staff is no longer willing to help out for their tenants. I will be looking for other places to live when my current lease expires. The apartment is great - but management and the staff is now lacking. It's a shame. Pros: Apartment price, location to schools and airport, clean pool Cons: Water not included with rent and very HIGH. Beware. more

I have lived at Captiva Club for over 4 years and this place is finally getting its act together.....great. I am recommending this place due to the new manager. He seems to really care about this place and is getting things done. It was not the best place before, but with the rates being what they are and the apartments being above average, yet the best value in the area, I am glad I decided to stay and not move. The future of this place appears to being going up........ while the rest of the apartments in the area just give their rent away in specials trying to lure me away, they won't be successful as long as this guy is on staff. If you are looking for an apartment that is big and a staff that cares about you, then this is the place to live. However if you want a place that the staff is only nice during the time they are trying to get you to move, then live somewhere else in Town and Country. But good luck.....
