Wasnt boarding my dog but was in for interview...helped bathe a couple dogs..nice environment..clean..only thing I did not approve of was when one of the little dogs was barking continuously the young attentant went over yanked his mouth open and sprayed bitter apple in his mouth to keep him from barking..which in turn she stated he'll just keep on barking...well then why do that to himm!! would not leave my dogs there just sayin more

I love Four Paws Inn. I take my dogs to daycare there twice a week. They always come home exhausted.\r A dog that has exercised all day is a very calm dog at home. It's great. Couldn't recommend them more. The staff are excellent. They are very caring and attentive. Everytime I leave the house, my dogs are waiting at the door hoping I bring them to daycare. \r Great place. Wish I could bring them 7 days a week. Love Four Paws Inn! more

I have taken my two dogs to many doggy daycares in the different cities that we have lived in. We have been to FPI about a half dozen times so far. It was wonderful at first, the staff was nice and the dogs were very tired when they left. It was always very crowded which was a great sign. \r \r The last time I went to pick my dogs up, another woman and I stood in the lobby for several minutes without the staff noticing we were there. We witnessed them pulling at the dogs collars (hard) and screaming at them to ""shut up"". The poor woman with me was boarding her dog for the weekend and was sick to leave her there after what we had witnessed.\r \r After she left and the staff brought my dogs out, I asked them about the screaming and yanking of collars. They let me know that there was a dog who crated, very nasty and ""hated other dogs"", and they were screaming because they didn't want the little dogs to get hurt. This all makes sense, but the dogs that they were yanking at and screaming at were nowhere near the crates (where the ""mean"" dog was) like they claimed. \r \r After expressing more concern, I was told, ""Dogs are like children, you have to raise your voice to get their attention"". I agree with this, if the situation calls for it. However, the dogs that we saw getting abused, in my opinion, were simply walking around the grounds.\r \r As a dog lover, I am highly disappointed in FPI. I don't even care about the money, it's about how I saw the animals being treated. As mentioned, this is not the first (or second) doggy day care I have been to, so I do have places and staff to compare. I would not feel safe bringing my dogs back here. Everything looked great until they didn't know people were looking. The woman I was with who was boarding her dog was mortified to leave it there after what we saw. Proceed with caution. more

We have boarded our lab here for the past 5 years and he loves this place. He is exhausted every time we pick him up and he never looks back once he arrives to stay. This is a great place to take you pets for a stay. Pros: Great service, good training and boarding more

I took my puppy to 4 Paws for social interaction (day care) and would also take him also for boarding. He was very excited when he knew he was going and the staff is attentive and they all really love and care about dogs. They have strict Pick up and drop off guidelines so be aware of this. I was 5 minutes late to pick him up after one vacation and I could not get him until the next day. I really wanted my dog that day. more

Good place to take your dogs. It's often hard to get a reservation at the last minute because it's so popular. My onl;y criticim is that it is often hard to get anyone on the phone because they are so busy. Pros: The dogs get to play all day Cons: Hard to get a person on the phone more

When we lived in Chesapeake, we brought our lab here for day care, boarding and training classes. We all loved it. The prices were fantastic. Our dog loved all the staff and they were so attentive to him, making us feel like he was their favorite dog. \r \r While leaving a message to make reservations and such was not ideal, considering they're working with our furbabies, it's understandable. Leave a message and they'll get back to you asap. \r \r Their hours are great to drop off early and they're open late enough to accommodate those who have to deal with the tunnels of Hampton Roads. They're also very understanding when you are a few minutes late picking up.\r \r I compare all doggy day care facilities to FPI and they just don't compare. I miss FPI and it's one of the only reason I hope we move back to Virginia! Pros: Loving staff; great hours; great training classes Cons: Sometimes tough to get a reservation for boarding (but only because it's popular!) more

We've been using Four Paws Inn for 7 years and would never go anywhere else. Great service, great with dogs, always accomodating, lots of space. The obedience classes are excellent, too! Pros: Accommodating, great service, great pricing, great with dogs!!! Cons: won't keep my kids...HAHAHAHA more

What I dislike about this place is that every time I called during there working hours all I got was an answering machine. I have left 4 messages with them and no one has retuned my call. Bad service. Pros: was able to get my two dogs in at short notice Cons: can never get a hold of any one more

We had used several kennels in the area prior to going to the 4 Paws Inn, and our search is over. I have 2 dogs who are very attached to each other, but one is an uber extrovert and one is a shrinking violet personified ? both do well at the 4 Paws Inn. They have doggie day care during the day, but the dogs are put into their own crates when they eat and when they sleep. Since my two are so strongly bonded, they actually get to sleep and eat together in a partitioned area. The big dogs and/or rambunctious dogs are kept in one bigger area, and the smaller and/or more laid back dogs are kept in another. There appears to be at least one attendant in the areas at all times. Both my dogs come home happy and exhausted. They also do dog training there ? we?ve not been, but our friends who have gone to their classes are equally thrilled. The staff is world class and very accommodating to my always flexing schedule ? last minute availability, late drop offs, changing dates. PROS: very more
