Campagnia 2/10/2009

We started off our dining adventure with the savory Argentine prawns with orange-tarragon glaze. The shrimp had a light batter that was crisp, yet soft enough to cut and the glaze had a refreshing hint of orange peel -- tangy with a hint of bitterness to offset the sweetness. Our entrees included a Pastrami Reuben on swirl rye, and BBQ beef on a brioche bun; and a grilled chicken chopped salad with warm goat cheese, toasted almonds, golden raisins, crisp pita and pomegranate vinaigrette. The meat was sliced thin, piled high, and nearly melted in our mouths. The chicken salad is a definite must for anyone in need of a light and refreshing, yet filling, meal. An unusual addition was pomegranate seeds, complementary to the vinaigrette and abundantly mixed in. \r Campagnia made its salmon cakes with shrimp-English pea salad, field greens and pasilla pepper aioli. My personal favorites were the next two entrees: the grilled 10 ounce Certified Angus Beef ribeye steak with sauteed spinach, warm potato salad, cabernet-balsamic reduction and gorgonzola-horseradish butter; and the smoked chicken fettuccine with Portobello mushroom and sugar snap peas in a sherry wine cream sauce. We then indulged in the dessert trio: bread pudding, creme brulee and tiramisu. Up next was the Frangelico Chocolate mousse and lava cake that, well, took the cake! Fresno has no clue what ""Upscale"" is. 11/10/2008

I should know, i'm a Fresnan, but born in NY. I been to ""upscale"". I know what ""upscale"" tastes like. I know what ""upscale"" should feel like. Well ladies and gentlemen, this is far from ""upscale"". \r \r I don't know if it's me or what, but the ""chefs"" there seem to be non speaking Mexican immigrants, which I have no problem with, but when you have them yelling orders and talking to each other loudly in Spanish, the whole ""upscale"" thing is drowned out. With that being said, I don't know what type of genre this place is aiming for, but i'm confused. You have pizza there, steak, seafood, chinese food, mexican dishes, etc. List goes on. The food is overrated and overpriced. Nothing more can be said about this place. \r \r Although I would hang out here during the night when it turns into a club. more

Best pork and lamb chop. 4/19/2007

First of Not being from this area I was not expecting a great dining experience when I found this place in a 'strip mall'. But much to my surprise the place was very attractive with attentive waiters and a wonderful menu and wine list. I have enjoyed double cut pork chops in some nice restaurants but the glazed porkchop they served was moist and savory, the lamb chops were done to perfection and served with a tasty savory bread pudding. I plan the next time in this town to return to this gem. I heartily recommend this place to any one who enjoys dining out. more

worth it 6/26/2006

Yes, the restaurant can be very noisy. Yes, the prices are pretty high. But, I say this place is still 100% WORTH IT. Great food, pleasant service, sophisticated ambience, lots of good people watching. Pros: Excellent food ! Cons: When it's busy, it gets noisy more

nosiy but worth it 4/2/2006

We are transplants to the north who come home to Fresno to see friends and family. So we rely on them for good chooses for dinner, we where there on a Saturday night and it was full. Took a little longer than we would have liked to get our food but it was very good. If your not into the up and comers group you may want to go for an earlier dinner time, but well worth your time. Pros: up beat atmosphere, great wine list Cons: noisy, long wait for food more

To Noisey 6/17/2003

For the money I expected a little more. The noise level was irritating. Seems more like a fast food joint than a fine dining. Pros: Upscale Cons: noisey, Preppy, Snobby more

Best in the 'No Town' 2/12/2003

First of all the food is the best in Fresno. The decor is something you would find in San Francisco or Santa Monica, a little classier than Fresno. The service is clean-cut, good-looking, and they do a great job. If I could, I would eat there every day of the week. You will most likely need reservations and it is especially crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. Pros: great food, experienced chef, great full bar Cons: service may be better, looking than your, date more

The Hip Place to Be! 7/7/2002

With Campagnia's addition to the Fresno dining scene, diners truly feel like they have stepped into another city. The decor is marvelous and those in attendance usually feature the who-is-who of Fresno. The food is good, but expensive. The wine list is good. Many young professionals now call this their home. more
