Cafe Yumm! boasts three casual dining locations in Eugene -- at 5th Street Public Market, in Meridien at 18th & Willamette Street, and in the Oakway Center. Seating for all locations is pretty much mall cafe-style, with some outdoor seating. Lunch hours are always busy, but service is generally up-beat and fast.
The food is absolutely Eugene-style -- which means you'll be eating healthy, "crunchy-granola" fare. The menu includes many vegan options. And while vegetarians have plenty to enjoy, even the most dedicated meat eaters have been turned on to Yumm! Sauce.
The Original Yumm! Bowl is the featured favorite. The Bowl comes in small, medium and large sizes -- any of them provide a good-sized serving of both black and red beans with brown rice, topped with Original Yumm! Sauce and fresh salsa. Ask for "Deluxe" and your Bowl is spiked with sour cream, shredded cheddar, olives, cilantro and avocado slices. The Bowl seems like such basic food, but it is truly satisfying in a way that often surprizes people.
Yumm! sauce contains no eggs, wheat, gluten, or dairy. It's a special blend of healthy canola oil, water, almonds, lemon juice, lecithin, nutritional yeast, garbanzo beans, fresh garlic, soy beans, herbs & spices. That rich and silky Sauce is what keeps their devoted clientele coming back to the Cafe...it's absolutely addictive!
Variations on the basic bowl include Chipolte or Roasted Garlic Sauces, jasmine rice and beans (or not), the delicious Yumm! & Greens salad, and an absolutely humongous Yumm! tortilla wrap. A personal favorite is their Secret Asian Man salad. And they also serve up slices of quiche which, I understand, come from the Humble Bagel bakery. A selection of zesty soups and stews, good choice of beverages and additional baked goods (like cookies) are also available.
Prices are in the $5-$10 range. For those who can't resist, extra sauce can be bought in several size containers so you can take home and make your own. The sauce is also available for purchase in some local grocery stores -- including Market of Choice.
