Went to check prices on a Fluval tank heater and found their prices to be a little higher than what I was able to find online. I went to the woman at the checkout counter to see if they would lower the price of the heater to the price I had found online (with a printout for proof) because I would have bought it right there. It was not a considerable difference in overall cost; $8, but that was 20% more than online. Many might think you always have to add shipping to online orders so the markup at Buzz N' B's is legitimate, however there were no shipping charges... Once I asked the question to match a price and began to reach for my printout, the clerk raised her voice and snapped at me saying that the online seller was not allowed to sell the Fluval heater at that price and that it was "Illegal" for them to do so. She would not even look at the printout...Apparently I was breaking the "Law" when I shopped an online competitor and found a better price. Her reaction to my simple inqui more

I would like everyone out there to know what a phenominal group of people work at this all you could ever need pet store! I came in with a very sick iguana. Knowing nothing about this animal (it is my son's and he is away), i was a clueless, panicked wreck! Andrea calmed me down in minutes and did every thing humanly possible to help me out, including contacting a local vet to help us out. They all showed concern and understanding for this frantic, scared "grandma". Here's the best part, after all the time they put in for me and "Iggy", they never charged me a penny! Bought a stingray from this store less than two weeks ago and ingot death curl and died. My water parameters were fine and he did good until yesterday. So now I'm out $189 because the stringray had some sort of brain infection. Store wouldn't do anything about it. Buying my fish from a store with a better guarantee now. more

We just started coming here because a friend said the place was great. He didn't lie. We are setting up a salt water tank. We weren't sold stuff and pushed out the door. The advice we received is priceless. I would rather support locals than chain stores. Owners treat customers so much better than chain stores. We do plan to come back often for all of our pets and the priceless advice we get. Thanx to all at Buzz n' Bees! ;-) more

I purchase my cat's food at Buzz N Bees because no other store in Erie carries their food of choice. But, I agree with the expensive comments. I talk to others that purchase the same food in Ohio and in Pa and they pay as much as 5.00 less than I do per bag and the canned food is as much as 10 cents cheaper per can. Unfortunately for Erie people, it is the same in most of the stores around here. Everything costs more in Erie, why is that? Gas in Erie is as much as 40 cents more per gallon than across the border in Ohio and about 30 cents more per gallon than on the east side of the state. But, back to the pet store.... It seems to be a bit brighter and better organized under new ownership. Prices of course went up and unfortunately while it is better lit, the items are still way over priced and the shelves were not organized. Easier to see the clutter. Saw quite a few floating fish that had not been removed out of the tanks and many of the tanks were still dirty and had caked more

I am very surprised by the bad reviews. I have been a patron for 6 years since I have moved to Erie. I have always loved the selection of fish and dog food that they provide. It is hard to find the specialty products they provide at the main Pet Stores.I also am shocked to hear the bad review concerning Pat. Pat has always been a pleasure to work with. He was always professional, on time, and very knowledgeable of what I needed when setting up a fish tank for my kids. My kids absolutely love seeing Pat every time we come in to by food for our pets.And since new ownership has taken over the place is even better. They have made some nice changes to the inside of the store that makes it even more pleasurable to shop there. And the new owner Aaron is amazing. He is extremely pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable of the business. I will continue to be a customer of Buzz N Bees as long as I live in Erie!! more

Frankly, I'm shocked at some of the negative reviews that this business has received. Both my husband and myself have been dealing with the staff at Buzz and Bees since the inception of our "herp" addiction 3 years ago. Not only are they friendly and professional, Pat and Angies knowledge of herps has proved invaluable. They always make time for me and my questions or concerns and have actually gone out of their way to help me. Angie has volunteered her own time to "lizard sit" for me and my husband when the military calls us away for long periods of time. My husband and I are deploying this month and not only did the staff at Buzz and Bees help us find homes for our pets but Angie is taking our cat for us so we don't have to get rid of him.\r \r I have never had a bad experience with this business or it's staff. Any problems I have encountered have been dealt with quickly and effectively. the staff may not wear suits and ties and yes, they like to joke around but after all..it's more

I drive 2 hours to do business with this shop. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. I buy all my fish here. I have never had any problem. They have offered to special order fish for me when they were out of stock. more

Definitely a little on the expensive side but, that being said, you get what you pay for. You know the animals are from a reputable breeder, you know they back up what they sell. Definitely the place to go for many animals and good pet food (which is often sold when too old from many big discount stores). Of course, like anything there are some items you can get much cheaper elsewhere but if you need assistance, knowledgeable and skilled staff, and the correct items for a startup this is the place to go! more

I recently puchased a Bearded Dragon for my son. The staff was very helpful and got me all set up. I do think the prices were pretty steep for some of the items I purchased. I like the personal touch that they offer at this store, but sometimes by pass going because I know I could get by cheaper somewhere else. PROS: Personal service CONS: Prices! more

We live on the other side of town and had never even heard of the place until we visited our Aunt and her kids took our kids over there. They were fine with the kids looking at the animals, they answered all their questions. They are a bit over priced but I would much rather support a local owner than a chain store. This is a great small town shop that my kids have visted often and will have great memories of! It will be the first place we go once we get that new fish tank all set up! more
