Good School - terrible records office 7/30/2006

This is a great college with good professors. Education is reasonably priced and the work load is reasonable. Yet, if you ever need to get your records, leave yourself a lot of time because the people there are slow. Be sure to go there in a very good mood and don't let any rude people in the office ruin your day. more

Fine Campus Setting in Brooklyn 11/15/2005

Love it or hate it (and I love it) Brooklyn College has more than enough available to satisfy even the grumpiest of people. Besides the excellent professors and teaching assistants, they have Diversity, easy access public transportation (subway, bus) and is located in the famed Flatbush Junction, where Flatbush Avenue meets Nostrand Avenue. The campus is beautiful, though slightly smaller than the norm. Tuition is very affordable, especially compared to other schools in the CUNY (City University of New York system). The college and it's surrounding areas are currently experiencing massive construction projects for more facilities that will no doubt make life a bit easier for students and teachers. There are also many food options for faculty and students in the surrounding area. Subway, Dunkin Donuts, Wendy's, Golden Krust, Mcdonald's, Blimpie, a couple of diners, a pizzeria or two and a hop away from buses that take you to Kings Plaza Mall for shopping & assorted delights. A Very Satisfied Bio major 9/3/2005

This is probably one of the most aesthetic campuses in our area. The campus gounds are gorgeous- trees, flowers, shrubs, a pond, georgain buildings. The atmosphere is very loose, friendly, and comfortable; it is easy to fit in here. The academics are impressive- there is a major for just about any interest. more

Beautiful Campus 8/27/2005

Brooklyn College is a very good community college. I used to think community college are small and bad but after seeing Brooklyn College I have changed my mind. They have a beautiful big lawn. Also they have a Lily Pond. The campus has wireless internet all over. Students can acess the internet anywhere from a wireless enabled laptop. Also they have computer rooms everywhere. Brooklyn College is very high tech and has a very beautiful campus which helps improve the learning enviorment. Wonderful college! more

Lack of funding undercuts great teachers 8/8/2005

In my four years at Brooklyn College, I met some truly amazing teachers who ended up influencing my entire life. Especially the teachers in the TV/Radio and Film departments were truly visionary, some of them also teaching at upscale schools like the NYU and Columbia. I learned so much more from them than just the subjects they were teaching. However, the more technical courses always suffered greatly from the lack of new equipment. TV production and Film production courses had prehistoric equipment, and not enough of it to go around. The teachers tried very hard to teach us well, and succeeded in a lot of ways, but not even the best teacher can help you when all you've seen is some crappy 1960s editing station and then you have to go into the real world with its modern equipment and try to get a job. PROS: Great teachers, nice green campus CONS: Technical classes suffer from lack of modern equipment more

Exceptional College 8/5/2005

Despite all the negative things said about CUNY, Brooklyn College is an excellent place for an undergraduate education. Aside from the gorgeous campus, the professors are brilliant and unlike other colleges, the students makeup is very diverse. There are evening classes available for those who work in the mornings. They offer early registration to honors students, so you'll never worry about not getting those requirement classes. The student life is very rich too. There are a lot of campus events to keep your social life active along with all the academics. more

Worst College Ever! 7/10/2005

I took classes at this college. Professors were nothing special. When I requested a college transcript they didn't have my name spelled correctly. I didn't care that my name wasn't spelled correctly, but they wouldn't issue a transcript to me even though I told it was under my social security number. The people who work in the records office are terrible and not helpful at all. The dean of students had to intervene and get my transcript sent out. I wouldnt recommend this school to anyone. PROS: none CONS: lazy registra and transcript office workers more

You'll get a good education 7/7/2005

I graduated from Brooklyn College and I'm so happy I picked it over other schools. I got a very good education here and they gave good advice to me when I was seeking financial aide. The campus is beautiful and I like that it's centrally located in Brooklyn. It's close to all forms of transportation. The professors are amazing and I had no trouble getting the classes I wanted. I now have a successful career and I feel I owe it all to Brooklyn College. more
