Blythewood

Well that was probably the worst phone call that I have ever had with a breeder reputable or otherwise. She could not fully answer one question I had regarding her breeding line, her puppies, her health guarantee, her experience, and motivation. She got mad at me for even asking! \r \r I think that if you are looking for a dog from a reputable breeder Joan Huber has an outstanding champion record, and I think she has a passion for breeding true miniature schnauzers, but you are going to have to take her word for it as she apparently won’t provide any information. \r \r I was disappointed, but I found a great breeder in Indiana!\r more

It is hard to decide whether i love or hate Blythewood. Joan is all the negative things they say she is. She is disorganized, dismissive, and a bit dishonest. We caught her in a misrepresentation that was a bit sleazy. Her house is disgusting - piles of clothing, magazines, etc. everywhere. She is almost a hoarder. Her adult dogs live their lives in cages, which is disturbing, but that may be standard fare. And she insists on cropping ears, which is just plain silly these days. Most mini Schnauzers that I see do not have cropped ears. But. . . and its a big but. . . the puppy we got is the sweetest, smartest, best socialized puppy I have ever known. He housebroke in a few days - and he learns everything we train him to almost instantly. So, would I recommend this breeder to someone with a short fuse, absolutely not. There is enough that is ""off"" that I wouldn't want to be responsible for someone getting in a big fight with Joan or being totally blown off by her. But, for someone looking for a sweet, smart, trainable pet, I would say hold your nose and go for it. I did. more

I purchased a dog from Joan with the Blythewood name in the pedigree. Received the puppy and was over joyed with how well socialized he was. He is two years old now and a very healthy happy boy. Joan is a professional champion bloodline breeder - she is still showing her dogs and is very busy as she is one of the number one breeders of champion miniature schnauzer in the USA so maybe it seems that she is rude but don't mistake that with an important person in the Miniature schnauzer world! more

Joan Huber is extremely rude and unwilling to help her customers. She wants your deposit, then falls off of the face of the earth. Her team was nice, but they did not know the timeline of when the puppies would arrive or where you stand on the waiting list or anything helpful. Emails will go unanswered, you will be hung up on if a more important call comes through, and overall, you will be treated terribly. We used a different breeder and are very happy with our choice. The rudeness we encountered was unmatched. Stay away from this business-it is unprofessional and very disorganized. I've also heard that the dog you receive is not necessarily from Joan Huber. I have read only negative reviews on this business, but unfortunately only saw them after sending in my deposit which is now lost to me. more

I purchased a schnauzer from this breeder only to find that the pedigree was not a Blythewood. Joan Huber deliberately misrepresented this dog. Could not register her with AKC as Blythewood because it was really from Jo-Mi Kennel. Don't waste your time or money. Go to a breeder that will give full & accurate disclosure of pedigree. Do not wait for ""papers"" because what you receive will not always match what she said you purchased. Blythewood was in the line but Joan was not the breeder of the dog she sold me.
