Terrific homemade pastas! 11/18/2007

Laura's was a great find! Just moving to New York it was hard to know where to begin in exploring its culinary wonders. I just happened to stumble upon Laura's and what a find! The homemade dishes (try the ravioli) were wonderful, and there is always a new, captivating wine to complete the dining experience. I had never had such fresh and rich Italian cuisine. One can tell the chef is truly a master of his art and really takes time to create fabulous dishes. Laura is also a gem! Everytime I go, I walk in as part of the family. Laura is so hospitable and takes care of her customers as though they are in her own home. It is hard to think about going anywhere else when the service meets its match with fabulous food at Laura's. For a wonderful meal and a night of true enjoyment, I would recommend Laura's to anyone! Pros: Great homemade pasta; feel right at home more

Great Italian Food 9/27/2007

If you are looking for terrific Italian food that is ALWAYS fresh then Laura's is your place! This restaurant is a staple for my husband and I. I've never eaten anything there that I haven't enjoyed. Their sauces are the best you will ever taste! While I enjoy everything they make, their egglant parm, veal pizzaiola, and filet of sole oreganata are out of this world! This is an intimate establishment and Laura and Sal treat guests like family. They are also flexible with the menu and can customize dishes according your preferences. Enjoy. Pros: great food, nice ambiance more

Good, home-style Italian food! 9/25/2007

Laura's has been a staple in Windsor Terrace since the late '70's. It's like dining in your own home. Laura is a gracious hostess. The food is excellent! Any place where you can see right into a clean, bright kitchen gets my vote. I have been going to Laura's for many years and I have brought friends & family from out of town and they have always enjoyed it. All I can say is, if you want good, home-style, Italian food go to Laura's and make up your own mind. During the Fall try their pumpkin ravioli...it's GREAT! It's nice to be treated as part of the family when dining here. Maria C. more

THeir Fresh Mozzarella Pizza's are VERY VERY GOOD! 11/14/2006

I get them delivered all the time. While it isnt on par with some of the brooklyn greats it is one of the best in the park slope and windsor terrace area. Can't say much about the rest of the food, i always get the pizza! Pros: Pizza more

It's a family restaurant alright. 6/3/2006

The food was great, and Laura even waited on us and checked in periodically to make sure everything was ok. However there were points when we felt as though we were in someone else's living room. This will either turn you on or off. Rather chintzy decor reminiscent of my aunt's town house on Staten Island--the heavy velvet curtains and gilded frames. Only thing missing was a pic of the Pope kissing Joe Dimaggio. The scowls from other diners were lame: Windsor Terrace is a nightmare for people who aren't into tricking out their McClaren strollers or organizing sing a longs for their pugs. If you want a hug and a kiss on the cheek from a woman who doesn't know you, why not go to your Aunt's house in Elizabeth? It also appears as though they go through one delivery person per week. Maybe not a good sign? more

What a strange place.... 3/28/2006

Laura's is very approximate in matching the menu description to what they serve. A salad was listed as including smoked salmon, but arrived without it. When I asked the waitress, she told me they couldn't afford the salmon, and had changed the dish (though not on the menu). Pizza margerita comes without the promised basil. There's an ad hoc quality: You won't get what you ordered, but it's okay. The service is really weird and hostile. One example: They literally took bread from my baby, after we ordered a brick oven pizza, not ""food"" (the waiter's words). I asked if there was a minimum, which there wasn't; he'd give us the bread only if we'd paid for it -- this, after my baby had eaten of it. We're talking small piece of italian bread, nothing fancy. It was ridiculous. We didn't ask for a water refill, lest he charge us. Cons: service, unpredictable food more

Average 2/18/2006

The food is alright. They're often out of whatever you want. I once ordered 4 dishes and they were out of 3 of them. The pizza's pretty good. The decor is tacky, like your grandma decided to decorate the place in Victorian style at cut-rate prices. It's an okay neighborhood place, but don't bother traveling here from another neighborhood. Pros: pizza Cons: decor, availability more

Laura's; Can you take it? 1/21/2006

Lets start out positively, the food at Laura's is very good. I don't claim to know enough about authentic Italian cuisine but the food is good, provided they have the menu item you order. The quirky staff is where Laura's fails to deliver. I've been there a dozen times and you never know how much the bill will be. Yes the menu shows prices but you still can never tell. I've had dinner and a couple of glasses of wine for $25 and I've had similar meals totaling in the $40's. more
