BEST YOGA IN HOUSTON 2/18/2009

I absolutely love Bikram yoga! Both locations offer great classes, which are many throughout the entire day and evening. Super sweet receptionists and great instructors that really take the time to talk to you before and after class. This yoga has changed my life, I recommend it to everyone! Pros: Variety of class times, great for physical and emotional healing more

The right exercise for you! 8/21/2008

I stepped away from Bikram Yoga 2 years ago for various reasons. Two weeks ago I wrote the owner and stated that I desperately need to come back to Bikram but was nervous about starting all over again. She wrote me a lovely email and 48 hours later I came back. Upon stepping into the Fountainview location, I knew I was in the right place with the right form of exercise for my body and my mind. The studio is clean, the instructors are beyond fabulous and everyone is quite attentive to your needs. I am hooked all over again, I cannot begin to tell you how fabulous I feel after only 5 classes. Pros: You feel great more

Excellent Results In Record Time 8/3/2008

My friends told me that this yoga would improve my golf game and get rid of the aches and pains that were starting to settle in. They were right. I got amazing results in less then a month. Now I'm bringing my skeptical friends to class too. Definitely give this place a try - you'll be glad you did Pros: great workout with powerful results - great value for the dollar and time invested more

Heal and Feel Better Then You Ever Thought You Could 8/2/2008

I absolutely love this studio. These people not only saved my life, they gave me a life worth living. Before I started taking yoga here, I lived in constant pain. I had low grade fevers, joint pain, headaches, lethargy and depression, all of which made my life a misery. The best medical treatment did nothing to help, and doctors gave me no hope. I was diagnosed at various times with some kind of ""auto-immune disorder"" or ""severe allergy"" or ""environmental sensitivities"". Once I was even told to take antianxiety medication, like my symptoms were all in my head! At a point of utter despair I remembered reading an article in a magazine several years ago about the amazing healing benefits of Bikram Yoga. With nothing left to lose I thought ""even if I can't do the class, maybe the heat will finish me off and finally put an end to my suffering"". Instead of dying, I was actually born again. After just one class I had less pain in my body, and a tiny little spark of hope. Now, after 6 months of taking class 4 - 6 times a week, I have NO pain in my body and I know what true happiness is. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Joani, and thank you to all of your staff. Your skill and knowledge, along with your kindness and compassion have made my life worth living. Pros: the incredible staff, the uplifting energy, the support more

12 Years and Counting - I Love This Place! 5/31/2008

Twelve years ago I stumbled into my first Bikram Yoga class with Mike. It was somewhere out on the Katy freeway, which at the time, was quite an unlikely location. Since then I've bought a 10 lesson package every single month and continued my practice. When I took my first class I couldn't even see my toes, now I can easily touch them. When I took my first class I was strong, but I wasn't flexible and I had no balance. Now, twelve years later and in my early 50's, I am still strong, but I'm also flexible and I have great balance! I also feel and look at least 10 years younger than I did when I walked through that door. Bikram Yoga turns back the hands of time. Once the Fountain View school opened I started to practice there because it's close to my home, but every now and then I take class at South Blvd for old times sake. Over the years a number of other ""hot yoga"" classes appear around town, and being around so long myself, I'm curious and always check them out. What I discover is that I always recognize the ""teacher"" as a fellow student that recently stood next to me on the front row and took class from Joani and Mike and their great team of teachers. And I discover that there's a reason Bikram Yoga Houston has the longevity and reputation for greatness that it does. Imitation may be the best form of flattery, but it is, after all, imitation.... if your looking for honesty, integrity, skill, compassion, wisdom, experience and powerful results, run, don't walk, run, to Bikram Yoga Houston. Pros: everything - directors, teachers, staff, reliability, experience, results Cons: nothing more

Not about the money... 5/28/2008

I have been practicing at Bikram Yoga Houston for 2 years now and I have to disagree with the review that said the owners are only about making money. I feel, since the directors and staff are so kind and supportive of me and other students, that I need to stick up for them. First of all, they do not advertise a ""30 Day Challenge"", at $20 per class. That's just ridiculous. The schools have a 60 Day Challenge and I have never been pressured or have seen them pressure anyone to do that. Bikram, himself, says to brand new students ""Do 60 classes in 60 days and you will receive a new body, new mind, new spirit."" What the owners of Bikram Yoga Houston suggested to me, and what I have heard them say to new students is, 10 classes in 30 days to receive the maximum benefits of this yoga. And practicing in LA myself, like the reviewer below, Bikram says the exact same thing - 10 classes in 30 days for maximum benefits. There are class packages to help us save money. It's not $20 per class. Pros: the yoga, the studios are clean and a good size, the staff and directors more

For these Studios Bikram Yoga takes a backseat to making $$$ 5/28/2008

I've been doing Bikram Yoga for close to 10 years and completely believe in its mental and physical benefits. After moving to Houston a few months ago I continued my practice at the Bikram studios on South & Fountainview. Having been to studios all over the States I must candidly admit that this is one of the worst in the country. The problem is the owners have put the business above the yoga. At the end of each class the owner begins a shameless sales pitch that's masked as looking out for the health of the students. Like clockwork he brings up the ""Bikram"" challenge -- follow Bikram's advise and take 60 classes in 60 days (even discounted to $12 per class that's a very expensive challenge indeed). I've trained with Bikram at the main studio in LA and he's never brought up this so-called challenge. All the teachers in LA, including Birkam, and teachers at every other studio I've been to really focus on the benefits of the yoga. It's become apparent to me that the Houston owners, though they certainly believe in Bikram yoga, are far more motivated by their need to be as profitable as possible. I have nothing against running a successful business, however, it's offensive when the owners hide their true motivation -- to make as much money as possible -- behind Bikram Yoga's recuperative benefits. Pros: Bikram Yoga Cons: Owners more

Yoga for Life 5/17/2008

Was there when it opened and have been going ever since. LOVE IT. The yoga is consistent, the teachers and staff are the BEST and I've never felt better in my life. It's hot, no doubt, but the rewards and benefits derived from this yoga are immeasurable. I'm hooked. This is the first time I've ever looked forward to working out. This will be my 6th year with Bikram Yoga. Pros: convenient schedule, showers, clean more

Great for Rheumatoid Arthritis Sufferers 5/15/2008

The instructers work with you to get the most of every pose. Since I have rheumatoid arthritis, it is very diffiult to do some of the poses, but the instructors provide assistance throughout the class. It is a great class for joint mobility and strength training. more

Absolutely WONDERFUL!!! 5/15/2008

Life is a gift and what a way to honor yourself!!! One could not ask for a more nurturing environment when exercising the mind, body, and soul. As the instructors comment, this yoga is a ""process,"" and I will add to that by saying that you will be delighted in your efforts. Enjoy!!! Pros: Healthy inside and out! more

Does a Body Good 5/14/2008

I have been a workout junkie for years. Unfortunately, that has made my body very broad and muscular. But now, since I have been doing Bikram Yoga I am starting to get my dancer body back. After just one month people we commenting on my bodies changes. Now that I have been doing it for five, I am a whole new person and two sizes smaller! Not only is the yoga amazing, but you couldn't find a better group of people to be with. more

FOUNTAIN of YOUTH YOGA! 5/14/2008

Attending Bikram yoga on a regular basis is truly the Fountain of Youth! I have been going to the Fountainview studio for the past 6 years and this past winter I completed the 60 Day Challenge. I love everything about Bikram Yoga. I began the yoga with chronic lower back pain and a very stiff and weak knee because of an ACL reconstruction. After going to Birkam yoga, I have NO lower back pain and my knee is a good as new. As an added benefit. this yoga has eliminated my shoulder & neck pain which was induced by stress! Massages were never able to get to the source of this pain lodged deeply in my muscles. After doing th 60 day challenge, I the chronic pain/tightness in my shoulders and neck is gone! I could go on and on at how this yoga has improved my quality of life ten fold! Thank you Joni and Mike for give us such a great studio with awesome instructior. Namaste! Pros: Clean and pleasant studio, great instructors, frequent classes, individual attention, etc.. Cons: None !!! more

What An Amazing Experience 5/8/2008

I just wanted to share that I finished my fourth class in a row today! It was a very frustrating class because for some reason, I was having a really hard time with the standing poses ? annoying for a former competitive athlete trying to change her mind set.... Anyway, as we began the floor poses and I?m bringing my mind into focus on the pose at hand, I experienced a very powerful surge of energy, so strong I literally saw warm light and felt lifted!! What an amazing experience and encouragement!!! I left feeling energized, lifted and completely peaceful. Joani, thank you so much for the work you and your staff do in sharing this amazing and healing process. My best friend has even decided to join me for a class this Saturday, with no prompting from me, simply by seeing what it?s done for me in the past four days! Pros: More than you can count Cons: None at all more

Powerful Pain Eliminator 5/7/2008

I used to suffer from horrible migraines. Nothing really helped. On the advise of a friend I came and took a class, I figured I had nothning to lose. Well a week went by, no migraine. Then two weeks, no migraine. Then a month, two months, 6 months, a year, no migraine. At first I lived in fear. I though this was too good to be true, but it was true! It's been 7 years now, and no migraine! I take class about four times a week. I wish I could practice more often but I have kids and a job and a husband. I am so grateful to Joani and Mike for bringing Bikram Yoga to Houston. I love both locations and go back and forth depending on my schedule. I never dreamed I could be free from pain.... thank you, thank you, thank you. Pros: Caring, compassionate owners, great teachers, wonderful staff, great classes more

After Shopping Around I Can Tell You For A Fact, This Yoga Is The Best Yoga! 5/7/2008

I had read several times that yoga was good for healing injuries so I set out to find out. Dragging a couple of friends along for moral support I decided I would try three or four different places around town before making up my mind. Wow. After three stops I was beginning to despair, and then thank goodness I came here. I loved the heat and I loved the yoga! I loved the teacher, I loved the owner, and so did my friends. I found everything I was looking for here, great yoga, fantastic instruction, ongoing challenge and complete healing. I've only been attending class for 6 months but every injury I was struggling with has healed! I love this place! Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

The Best Thing You Can Do for Yourself 5/6/2008

I thought I was too old - I wasn't. I thought I was too stiff - I wasn't. I thought I would feel out of place - I didn't! I am so happy that I got up the courage to come try this. My only regret is that I put it off for so long. From my first visit forward, everyone made me feel right at home even though I was scared to death. Much to my surprise I was not the oldest person in the room, not by a long shot. Even though I couldn't do even half the things that everybody else was doing it really didn't matter. The teacher was completely encouraging and supportive - she said not to worry about ""performing"", just try my best, so that's what I did. After class I was so proud of myself and I felt amazing. I was excited to come back and try my best again. That first class was nearly five years ago and I've been a regular ever since. I can honestly tell you that I feel younger, stronger, more flexible and that I'm healthier at 65 than I was at 30. My best advice is don't put this off, come and take class as soon as you possibly can. Pros: Staff, Teachers, Results Cons: There are no cons more

Great Workout! 5/4/2008

I didn't know what to think when my buddy asked me to join him for a Bikram Yoga class. A part of me thought if would be too easy, not enough of a workout, and really a waste of my time, but my buddy who invited me is a former collegiate athlete and swore I would experience one heck of a workout. He was right.... Pros: teaching/instruction - very clear & helpful more

My Salvation. No Kidding. 5/3/2008

I love this place, and I love the people who run this place. No matter how hard a day I've had, I arrive to take class and all my stress, my headache, my bad mood evaporates. Sure the class is hard sometimes, but the struggle is always worth it. I especially love the really big classes - The energy is so strong and powerful it feels like you're surfing, like you're riding a gigantic wave, and all of your best friends are on the surfboard with you. Fantastic! Pros: Great teachers, wonderful owner, outstanding front desk staff, amazing workout! more

Wonderful Studio - Best in Houston 5/2/2008

I've traveled all over the world and taken Bikram Yoga at every possible chance and this studio is hands down my favorite. Thank goodness I live in Houston and this is my home studio. I'm not going to say anything unkind about other studios, but I will tell you what makes this studio the best. The teachers and staff know everyone's name, even if you're new. The teachers are incredibly skilled, they manage large classes and still giving tons of personal attention to everyone in the room (sometimes you wish they didn't know you're name ;-). The studio is sparkling clean, even the yoga room smells fresh, and they never close. I mean never! Pros: Everything, teachers, staff, hours, location, design, energy. Really, everything! Cons: Nothing comes to mind, at all. more

Best yoga in Houston 3/6/2008

The studios are beautiful, I've visited both of them and have had some wonderful teachers. I can't say enough about the way the yoga has changed my life, the way that I look and the way I feel. When you first come in they are very welcoming to new students younge and old, and as a more experienced student you are still challanged. Try it and it will change your life! more
