We love the Belcourt. It is in a great location (Hillsboro Village) and the variety of wonderful films they show is incredible. It really beats fighting the masses to see the main...

Sloping, hard seats makes it hard to enjoy any film for long. I boycotted them for a long time for not showing movies at the advertised times. And I've walked out of 2 movies th...

This place is fun... 1/12/2006

The Belcourt is terrific. It is irrevent, a bit dirty now and then (both physically and otherwise), at times raunchy, very adult (NOT FOR THE FAMILY!), but that being said, it is *fun*. They have a bar for drinks if you're into that, they have food- not just standard popcorn fare, but pizza and whatnot. They have plays. Rock groups. Sometimes they show Titans games on the movie screen. It's a blast. I highly recommend it for a date scene- one warning though, it's not for those of delicate sensibilities- both the people and the entertainment can be profane and vulgar (if you're into that though, its a good point for the place). more

The film fanatic's theatre 9/15/2005

Belcourt is the place to go for obscure films -- obscure to most Nashvillians anyway. The theatre has struggled to stay open for years, operating on a shoestring budget; it's impressive that they are still making it happen. The theatre is old and has lots of character. It has lots of broken seats, too. If you love small independent films, you have to put up with those small discomforts. The management tries to enhance your experience by offering grownup refreshment choices -- wine, liquor and pizza in addition to the usual popcorn and candy. The Belcourt Theatre also hosts concerts and plays and is a supporter of local artistic endeavors. I wish that lots more people would visit the Belcourt on a regular basis; it deserves Nashville's support. more

It's a Wonderful Life 8/18/2005

It's a great old theatre to see the non-traditional mainstream movies. A friend and I have made a Christmas tradition there to watch every year on the big screen, 'It's a Wonderful Life'. There is a little food counter that also serves more than popcorn. It's located right in Hillsboro Village and it's a great place to go to see movies. more

A Non-Profit Movie Theatre ?!?!?! 8/17/2005

The Belcourt is indeed Nashville's staple non-profit theatre. The specialize mostly in documentary and independent films. With a very indy rock feel from the lobby to the individual theatres you know from the time you walk in that this is no chain establishment. In addition to showing great movies that you wouldn't find elsewhere and hosting speakers and concerts the concession stand cannot be missed. What you may ask is so special about this concession stand - they have a liquor license. Check out the Belcourt. more

Best for independent movies 8/10/2005

Belcourt theatre is definitely the best movie theatre in Nashville for independent movies. It is also much quieter and the atmosphere is more relaxed compared to a movie theatre at the mall. The quality of ther movies they show is in my opinion much higher comapred to the quality in other movie theatre. more
