Avalon Hotel

When I first walked in the hotel it looked like a nice clean place, OMG was I wrong. My first room was small, dark & smelly. The bedding was dirty, the carpets & chairs had what looked like urine stains on them and the bathroom "tub" had all kinds of hair in it. The smoke detector was in a dresser. The TV was small, old and the reception was spotty at best. The phone didn't work and when I went to open the window "which was very small" it was broke. When I had to walk to the front desk to ask to be changed to another room the staff was nice & moved us. Well our new room was not much better. The bathroom again was dirty. It also had a smell in this room but at least I could open the window to air the room out. This room also had a small TV with spotty reception. They did not have enough electrical sockets in the room for my computer or even for the things they had offered "coffee pot" which was also dirty that I had to clean before I could use it. The beds where so hard I would have slept on the floor "which might have been softer” but that was stained & dirty. I was with a party of twelve and we all had the same experience with our rooms. When I asked housekeeping to please clean my room & please leave extra towels they did neither. They need to hire new people for the housekeeping department. I knew that they where under construction at the time I stayed there which with all the other smells I had to smell paint too" people in my party where moved to one of the new rooms & it was just as bad as my room. The bar & restaurant where closed. Which they should have told us before we booked the room.They did have a breakfast buffet for $9, which was just as bad as the rest of my experience. Way too much to pay for what they offered. I checked out their website and the rooms didn’t look like the rooms they are showing. They looked nice & clean my room was neither. The only good thing about them they had a lot of places in walking distance so I could get out of my room. Never will I stay there again!!!!!!!!!! more

i took my girlfriend out this past weekend for her birthday. we stayed in the avalon hotel. it was the worst place i've ever stayed before. it was awful. the parking was horrible. our room was nasty. there were no bed shams so u could see all the stains on the box spring. the carpet had stains all over it. the window in our room was broke open (like someone was trying to smoke in the room prior), flies everywhere. the ac was broke so it was like 85 degrees in our room. there was no ice on our floor, instead there was a garbage heaping over with dirty diapers (well that's what it smelt like anyway). so my friend and i had to search the hotel to find ice (not convenient for us). it was just a miserable stay and her and i will NEVER stay there again!!!!!!!!! more

they were really great at the laST MINUTE THEY ACCOMODATED US WITH 10 people with a place to stay our previous motel was awful very ditry and had to change at last minute thanks again AVALON HOTEL, b.f. from buffalo,new york more

Avalon sucks!! We were there for our son's wedding on August 26, 2006. We stayed two nights. What a waste. People smoking at the hotel entrance. In the elevators and in the hallways. The smoke drifts into the lobby. The beds are hard as a rock. No comfort at all. We had breakfast Sunday morning and orange juice was $1.95 a glass. The eggs were cold and the toaster was as slow as molasses rolling up a hill. Parking really sucked. The underground parking was tighter than sardines packed in cans. If you couldn't get an end spot then you parked up against a pillar. Barely enough room for two cars SMALL CARS that is!! And if the garage was full later at night, then to bad!! You parked 200 yards away in a parking deck which was unsecured on the weekends. Save yourself some grief and get a motel. more

This hotel is an excellent place to stay while in Erie. The rooms are very well kept, the service top notch and the prices... well you won't believe how inexpensive it can be to stay right in the center of the city! They offer great packages, including a hockey package with tickets to the Erie Otters in the winter months. Summer and spring ask about the Erie Seawolves Baseball Package. Need something to do? Someplace to go? Simply ask at the desk and you will get a great list of recommendations of places to visit and enjoy here in Erie. Their in-house restaurant is also very good and well priced. Anyone I've ever brought into town has always commented on how well priced this place is yet you feel as though you're at a 4 star hotel. I think it's one of the best places to stay while in Erie! more

The Avalon Hotel is a medium sized hotel located in downtown Erie. It isn't the Hilton, Four Seasons or even the DoubleTree, but if you are looking for a nice hotel room you will find it here. The great thing about the Avalon is that it is one of the few hotels within the city. Yes you have a lot of "motels" within the city but the Avalon is a nicer hotel, someplace that you might want to stay for a few days. Located right smack in the middle of downtown Erie, you have access to the Bayfront, the Warner, the Erie Art Museum, Jerry Uht Park, and many other attractions, restaurants and bars, etc. Prices aren't cheap, but standard for a hotel of this caliber. Not luxury, but nice rooms. more
