Applewood Plumbing and & Electric since 1973 steal monies from old women to fix their sink!\r \r My mom had to have her facet replaced (the idiot who came to fix didn't even have to remove the facet I did that) and was charged $429.95 to have the new facet (we purchased) put on and have the valves replaced. Yes she agreed to it, and yes she paid them but does that give you the right to steal money from an old women who you know doesn't know any better and who you know is desperate to have her sink working...so it's ok to steal from her? You are beyond despicable cowards and sick sick men who would do this to an old lady. Reviews are full of your despicable over charging of everyone and your careless WAY over priced service. One a good note they did come out right away, eager to have another notch in their money grasping belts! You are too low for anymore of my words, God will see to your recompense!\r \r Oh and P.S. Thank you for the meaningless warranty (wouldn't have you back in Mom's kitchen if you got run over by a teenager.)!! more

Less than 15 minutes of service and without parts cost $120 and that's with a preferred customer status, which I also paid for, seems incredibly excessive more

Adam was very polite and replaced my leaking toilet shut off but the cost was $225!!! I will never use them again againbecause of their high prices. I read other reviews that complained about their prices.\r I should have called around but with a plumbing problem you want it fixed quickly.\r C.P. Aurora more

I would give them 0 stars if that was possible. Selling our house and we needed to have GFI switches put into the kitchen, and the furnace and AC serviced. They came out and told me that it was going to cost me $552 for two outlets. Now, my husband could have done those, but the buyers wanted a ""licensed"" electrician. So instead of it costing me $20 for the outlets, it cost me $552. Now after reading reviews on other sites I really wish I would have went with someone else. I will never go with the price gouging idiots again. This is complete robbery. I am ashamed of these people and what they think is ok with prices. And the HVAC guy tried telling me that I needed to do all these things to my AC. Even though he said it is running just fine. Yeah, commission based salesmen, not true service techs. more

I called about a few outlets in our computer room that had stopped working randomly. Applewood shows up and their employee is courteous, prompt, professional, all that good stuff. Takes the time to chat up my wife and be all friendly, establish a rapport, gets her to trust him for what's apparently standard practice for Applewood. Takes a look in my attic and says it's a mess, not up to code, fire hazard, etc, wants to redo the whole thing for $4,000. I asked what it would take to just make that one room safe and get the outlets working. $800. Went online, started reading reviews, learned that this is common practice for Applewood.\r \r I called a trustworthy electrician (JK Electric, based on their Yelp reviews) and asked them to take a look, he said yeah, it's a little messy, but based on the house being built in 1960 with a few renovations and such through the years, it's totally normal looking wiring, completely safe, boxes are mounted well above insulation, looked fine to him. Maybe not 100% to the code standards for new construction, but done right for the time and not a fire hazard. Got the outlets working (squirrels chewed on the wiring was his hypothesis) and upgraded everything to 3 prong, upgraded a few outlets in the bedroom to 3 prong and installed a dimmer in another room for $275. Was equally punctual, professional, doesn't bother my wife (she doesn't want to talk to an electrician! She wants to get on with her day and get the house fixed) except with updates as the work progresses, explanations of what he's up to, the necessary stuff.\r \r Will be telling anyone who'll listen to avoid these con men in the future. more

HORRIBLE. They wanted to charge us $1900 to replace our toiliet that was slowly leaking due to a deteriorating bolt on the bottom. High end toilet was $1900, low end would've been %$1180. To ""rebuild"" (I guess fix the bolt that was obviously the issue): $477. I checked with Lowes/HD and we can get a brand new toilet WITH installation for approx $400...they wanted $1900!!!!! Trip charge was $29 - this is important because.....3 days later, my sister, unbeknownst to me, called the same company for something electrical - trip charge for THEM? $69 - she lives less than 5miles from me. Oh, and our slowly leaking toilet? My dad came over and fixed it with 2 new bolts and an hour and a half of elbow grease. Total cost to us: $20. I was willing to think maybe they just saw us coming because we're not very saavy about fix-it things, but when I found out about my sister's experience 3 DAYS LATER?? These folks prey on those not experienced enough to know better, and , hey, that's everyone that would call them in the first place.\r \r EDT: my sister's electrical issue? they quoted $600 and they went to Lowes, bought the necessary part and did it themselves for less than $200 more

Price is exorbitantly high. I was charged for $340 dollar for just 1 min service of replacing hot surface ignitor of my heater. The cost of part is only $40 (I checked Home Depot online). Chris the technician is nice and he did sand the rectifier eventhough it is not part of the service. However he arrived late and with this premium price there should have been price concession. Overall, I will not recommend this to anyone. I feel they are taking advantage of homeowners that don't know little details yet simple. more

We have used Applewood for an A/C problem as well as a furnace tune up and have been very impressed with the service we received on both occasions. Another company performed a furnace tune up last year and scared us into thinking that we may have a carbon monoxide problem based on the appearance of our furnace. The service provider from Applewood reassured us that everything looked fine, tested safely, and did not try to sell us an unnecessary new furnace. The A/C fix was thoroughly explained to us, and the provider gave us tips to help avoid the problem in the future. The company does an excellent job with communication, from phone calls, email with the service provider's picture prior to his/her arrival for safety, and follow up. I would recommend this company to anyone! more

WARNING----this company is a SUPER expensive option to your plumbing, heating and electrical needs. While on time and with same day service (which we appreciated) they absolutely did all they could to take advantage of us. Gave me a quote for $18000 to replace a sewer line. I have since had two other companies give me quotes and details--NEITHER company thought the sewer line needed to be replaced but could use a good cleaning. They also stated that if they were to replace it, cost would be $6000. The other two companies were also reputable companies within the city. They also charged me nearly $800 to give me this information. The other companies charges $150. Ridiculous---absolutely a rip off. I'm in the real estate industry and the word on the street (now that I have expressed my distaste around the office) is that this company is one to stay AWAY from in any field. Overpriced for simply prompt service. more

A rip off. Was quoted over $11,000 for an air conditioning unit. I got one from another company for a third of the cost ($3500.00 installed). Check around, don't take Applewood's pricing without pricing out the repair to other companies. *The other company tried less expensive repairs before stating the unit needed to be replaced as well. Applewood just stated it would be at least $11,000 for the cheapest unit. more

Sam Y. from Applewood came out the same day I called. He was very helpful in getting my A/C unit back online within my budget! I highly recommend Sam Y. and the Applewood team! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 6/14/2012

Applewood was great - they were able to send someone out the very next day (for a non-urgent repair). The electrician (Scott) arrived on time and was able to complete the repair very quickly. Very professional; would definitely use them again! more

Chris diagnosed the problem with my air 6/5/2012

Chris diagnosed the problem with my air conditioner within about 5 minutes of his arrival, which he thoroughly explained to my husband and me. He completed the repair ( installing a new motor and cleaning the unit) within 1 1/2 hours. He applied our discount, making the bill a little less painful. Applewood can be pleased to have such a fine technician. more

We have been customers of Applewood 6/5/2012

We have been customers of Applewood Plumbing & Electric for 11 years. Only recently have we used them for electric. In doing so we met Brian Bach who is a fantastic electrician. Brian is very knowledgeable, experienced and highly professional. He explains what is needed, looks at options and really helps you make good decisions. I always request Brian and have been completely satisfied with his work. I recommend him without any reservation. more

Their prices are way too high. Minus 5/11/2012

Their prices are way too high. Minus parts I was charged over $400 an hour for a simple electrical problem. I am on a fixed income and felt cheated after they were done. I would never recommend them to anyone. more

Applewood Heating and Plumbing is an 5/4/2012

Applewood Heating and Plumbing is an exceptional company. Always on time, informative, and experienced. You are going to pay a little more for services provided by Applewood.... but you get what you pay for. I give them an A+ in every way! more

Awesome company to deal with in the case of my water leak! I had Jeremy, he was great - very professional and knowledgeable. Will not hesitate to call them for maintenance...hopefully not for anything more than that!! You can stop looking for a good plumber, just call they guys! more

GIANT RIP-OFF! Applewood provided a 3/15/2012

GIANT RIP-OFF! Applewood provided a quote of $8132 to replace an indirect fired water heater - more the FOUR times the price of just about all the other quotes I received. I had the job done for less than $1900 by a local plumber in Elizabeth CO (Assurance), and got an excellent result. This water heater connects to a boiler so is a little different than a normal water heater. But $8132 for something everyone else is quoting for less than $2000 is HIGHWAY ROBBERY - stay clear! There is NO WAY Applewood can justify this pricing. more
