Surprised how fast I improved 1/22/2010

APEX Physical Therapy in San Mateo, CA has been there for me since my surgery. I had a rotator cuff repair and my surgeon Dr. Paul Huges “San Mateo, CA” (Great surgeon by the way) recommended APEX.\r \r Their approach to recovery and therapy after surgery helped me recuperate very quickly (Dr. Huges commented to me that his patients who have employed APEX have had a marked improvement over other physical therapy clinics.) My therapy team encouraged me all the way through my recovery and I was surprised how fast I improved. I had heard so many horror stories from friends, family and associates on how hard and long the healing process was. I was more apprehensive about the recovery than the surgery.\r \r Their commitment to recovery joined with a ""healing and uplifting environment"" helps you push through your recovery while enjoying your time there. All the therapists and assistants are happy, outgoing and focused on your specific treatment. The facilities are well organized, clean and meticulously kept.\r \r My team was: Tony Tognetti, (DPT, Owner), Janie O’ Connor, (PT Aide), Laura Tracey, (ATC), Ashley Eckard and Jennifer Walker, (ATC). All were supportive, very attentive and friendly.\r \r Office personnel: Kim Moore, (Office Manager) and Ylicia Gonzales, (Receptionist/Office Manager) were very accommodating.\r \r Overall I would rate these guys as one of the best medical experiences I have had in my life. I have been to other PT clinics and have never had the quality of care I have experienced at APEX.\r \r Mike Collins\r Pros: ""healing and uplifting environment"" more

Awesome Experience 1/6/2008

Seven days after having my surgery (to replace my ACL) I met with the staff at Apex. \r \r I have to admit my expectations of the ""physical therapy"" process (having never done it) was very low. All I could imagine was spending four to six months, two to three times per week ($$$) with professionals who were there to just get the job done. Nothing more, nothing less. I also imagined a dirty, smelly gym-like environment. And of course, the thought of how much pain I would have to endure was always in my head. Wow, was I completely wrong!\r \r First, the people. The staff at Apex is very courteous, friendly, encouraging, and professional. The best way to describe them is they are highly service oriented, which really is a breath of fresh air. After my initial meeting with them, I felt as if they were genuinely thinking of me and the process I was about to begin. \r \r Second, the facilities. I walked in and immediately noticed how clean and organized everything was. On the surface, everything was extremely well kept, but it was their attention to detail that blew me away. I mean, how many places do you know of that have freshly cut fruit in the ice water? I know it sounds a bit silly, but that's how much they care about making sure your experience with them is absolutely first class. \r \r And third, the whole ""pain"" thing. Surprisingly, I was able to do more than I imagined I could just days after my surgery, and for the most part the pain was bearable. I would love to pat myself on the back, but most of the credit goes to the staff who knew exactly how hard to push me.\r \r So, with all that said, I find myself writing this review on the eve of my last physical therapy session. To be honest, it's bittersweet. I'm relieved to be where I am in my recovery, but saddened that my time at Apex is done. For me, time-and-money-well-spent experiences are rare. And this ranks right up there with the very best. Pros: Facilities, Parking, Ease of Scheduling, Service Cons: ""Stone Hands"" (just kidding Tony) more
