friendly service and great products 3/19/2012

I have been going to Ambridge Rose for a few years and I am very happy with the salon. The prices are reasonable, the employees are friendly and knowlegable, and the products they carry are the best I have used. I always get the haircut I ask for and good advice on products and styling tools. My hair looks better and more healthy now. I do not see much turnover with the staff which tells me alot about a business. Overall it is a great salon! more

Unprofessional & Unorganized!!! 6/29/2011

I used Ambridge Rose for my bridal party hair in 2007. They totally botched the appointments. Some how it got erased out of the book (13 people) even though I confirmed earlier that week when we were there getting our nails done. You could clearly see the erase marks. They acted like it was totally my fault and if it wasn't for my mother fighting to get us in, my wedding would have been ruined. They took none of the responsibility and made it out like we must have canceled! So after a fight they got us all done. I later decided that maybe this was just a one time mistake and I was totally ready to give them the benefit of the doubt. Then my best friend got married last week (2011) and she scheduled the bridesmaids and herself to get our hair done there. There was 6 of us total. They told her that 3 of us should come at Noon and 3 should come at 1pm. She confirmed this a few days before when we were there getting our nails done. Well I got a frantic call from the bride because they had us all scheduled at Noon and I had to get up there right away. I got there as fast as I could but still ended up sitting and waiting until after 1pm anyways. They blamed the bride saying that she told everyone the wrong time. Once again they took no responsibility for what had happened. There were only 3 hairstylist there so how they were going to do 6 people at one time is beyond me. When I sat down to get my hair done, I wanted a finger wave since I have a short bob. They stylist I had didn't know how to do it and neither did the other two that were there. So I told them to do it wavy / very loose curls. Half way through doing my hair, the stylist got flustered and said she couldn't do it and another stylist had to step in. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL! If you have a wedding that you are looking to get your hair done for DO NOT GO TO AMBRIDGE ROSE!!! It seems that they can't keep schedules straight and their stylist can only do limited things. And they will always blame you and take no responsibility for themselv more

Bullies, not stylists 3/8/2011

I am a 30+year veterin of the hair styling industry. This 'salon' is a disaster. I had the nerve to complain about not being able to get service based on their ad of "we Love walk ins" I had recieved a gift cert. for Mothers Day & walk in was my choice as I had recently had major surgury so getting around was not easy. After 3 attempts to get service I requested a refund of my 100.00 gift cert...The owner, Char, went into a fit and within minutes approx 6 to 8 of her employees circled around me, some calling me names, one of them pulling my hair, telling me to 'F' off, flipping me the finger. It was insane. In 30 years I'd never seen any salon behave in this manner. They are indeed over priced, but its apparent the owner is money driven. I found the salon to be dirty and a mess. The owner herself is not even a stylist herself. As the other stylists involved themselves I became a bit fearful if one of them that looks like Carol Burnett would get physical, the fear was I had just had major surgery and for some reason this woman felt it was her business. I struggled to keep the conversation between myself and the owner, but even she wouldn't tell her brood to go back to work. I finally found an open spot for me to leave, one of the taunted me all the way back to my car..It was un believable. The final of this was I had to threat suit for her to refund the $100.00. With how I was treated I would have spent 5000. to get the 100.00 back. more

A little pricey with a lot of attitude 11/21/2005

While the business itself is quite appealing when you walk in.. the atmosphere relaxing... the slight attitudes you get from the owners and workers is a little more uppity than I desired. Definitely relaxing and enjoyable to that end of the experience but I personally could do without the pompousness of the place. I think you can find just as good, if not better at other local spas without nearly as much attitude. more
