The Scene
With its gold leaf interior, crystal chandeliers and 100-foot fountain, Abravanel Hall is truly a sight to behold. This dramatic, three-story wedge of glass and brick is known throughout the world as one of the most impressive concert halls in the United States. Abravanel Hall is located just blocks away from the Delta Center, Salt Palace and Temple Square--right in the center of this western metropolis.
The Appeal
Abravanel Hall is an acoustical wonder. It was completed in 1979 under the supervision of Dr. Cyril Harris, who was also the accoustical designer for the Metropolitan Opera House and the Kennedy Center. Enhanced in 1998 with the addition of a new conference center, ticket office and restrooms, it not only houses the famed Utah Symphony, but has provided a rich-sounding performing venue for international stars such as the Vienna Boys Choir, Itzak Perlman and Benny Goodman.
