Best

I love this shop and would not think of going anywhere else. The people are really nice and the artists and unbelievable! You can't ask for anything more then that.

Worst

Nice people, mediocre tattoos 2/22/2007

I went to Slave to get some script done on one of my wrists. All of the people who work there were very nice and professional. But a week later, about 50% of the ink had come out of the tattoo and I had to go back to have it redone. I have 5 tattoos, including a full sleeve, and this is the only time it's ever happened. I went to Supergenius and got some similar script done on the other wrist, and had no problems. more

late night tattoo madness 11/2/2006

I had some tattoo work done by Chris Addams last month. I strolled in at about 10:00 PM on a Sunday night, dead set on getting a Misfits tatoo. Chris and the rest of the staff were ultra professional and friendly. I walked out of the shop at midnight, stoked on my new ink and new friends. I will definitely be getting more work done by Chris at this shop. more

Great Experience 8/30/2006

I got my nose pierced at Slave to the Needle a couple of months ago and was impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of everyone there. The woman who did the piercing was very informative and let me know every step of the way what everything was for and what was going on. It was a bit like a doctor's office which was actually kind of reassuring. I've never gotten anything more than my ears pierced before so this was kind of a big deal for me and I couldn't be happier with it. Later I came in to buy some jewelry for my nose as well, and the guy behind the counter was also really nice and helpful. I have plans to get some more piercings in the future, and even though I've moved out of state I'll definitely come here to get them done when visiting friends in Seattle. more

Great tattoo shop sans the attitude 7/30/2006

Had my 4th tattoo done here by Erika Jones. Her work is stellar. She accomplished exactly what I had envisioned (large upper arm piece - drawing of Ganesha) with only high level direction from me. She is a professional that does beautiful tattoo work. I have recommended this tattoo parlor to several of my friends - one went with Erika and others went with some of the other artists. All were 100% satisfied with the work and the overall experience. more

Even for one so young... 6/25/2006

I am 16 years old and one of the things I've noticed about some parlours is that they will pierce anyone who gives them money, regardless of legalities and the like. The strictness and lawfulness at Slave, plus the fact that all of their employees know precisely what they're talking about makes it my top choice. My two main stories from Slave are first of my sister when the afforementioned David refused to pierce her Industrial because it would warp her ear. That made me respect him first off. Second, I too had a traumatizing experience with mall ear piercings and the first attempt I've had was at Slave where David was incredibly patient, not to mention gentle when he put my spiffy new cartilage rings in. I also love the fact that they take questions from anyone, regardless of where you got your piercing done. They're a great bunch there. I give two thumbs up and more if I could. more

Great piercer (David) 6/5/2006

I've had quite a few piercings over the years, but the worst experience by far was getting my earlobes pierced at the mall when I was 7. Long story short - I passed out after the first one and made the women do the other one anyway a few hours later. They were never quite right and I took them out a few years later. No piercings scare me like my earlobes (yes, that's right - I've had nose, tongue, nipples, etc. which were all fine but the thought of piercing my earlobes makes me shake). Anyway, I decided it was finally time to get them re-pierced. Unfortunately, my previous piercers were unavailable so I went in search of a new one and found David at Slave to the Needle. He was great and very patient. I explained the whole thing to him and he didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all. He helped me select the right jewelry and did the whole process with the by-the-book cleanliness you should expect of any reputable piercer. My previous earrings were not quite even so I had him even them up and now they are practically perfect. ;) If you're looking for a piercer, give David a try - he's great. Especially if you are a big wuss like me. more

No Pretentiousness Here 4/23/2006

Tattoos are a strange thing when it comes to subculture. Lots of people have them now from all walks of life. I went in for a nose ring retainer and although I look like a poser, I was treated like a regular freak (in a good way, y'know?). This place is always recommended to me by others for my next tattoo so I will pass on the recommendation. more

great piercers 1/17/2006

Everyone who needs to know, should know that Fish is the man to go to for any hardcore or alternative piercings. My boyfriend had him do his tongue, and he did my nipples. Quick, easy, and mostly painless (at first), piercings by Fish show him to be a consummate professional. more

Excellent work and Nice artists. 10/19/2005

I have gotten quite a few tattoos from this place and time and time again I enjoy going back. I used to be tattooed by Joe Riley, but he left the state so I haven't gone there as much. Everyone there is extremely knowledable on what they are doing and they don't take any chances. I like how they treat their customers and that is why I continue to give them my business. more

This is the BEST place in town.... 9/15/2005

if not the country! Aaron Bell, the owner, has a great story and if your brother can get on here, he's definitely in the right place. Check out my other review on Slave to the Needle. P.S. Moms can get tattoos too! I have 4 yr. old twins and I just got my 5th tattoo last Sunday! They're vevry tasteful and not visible....at least if I don't want them to be. :) more

THIS IS THE ONE 8/4/2005

If you ever need piercing, tattooing or body jewelry this is the place that I recommend the most. Normally, a place is best at piercing or tattooing, but not both. This place is the exception. They have the best artists in both areas. They are all friendly and helpful. The store is very sterlie, which is definitely reassuring. They also take tools out of the shrink wrapped packets in front of the customer for added piece of mind. more

Tattoo you 6/23/2005

No, not the Rolling Stones. This is an awesome tattoo shop for you to get a real tattoo or piercing. (I won't speak of piercings in this post, however. I'm only a tattoo kind of gal.) Slave to the Needle is a very professional and CLEAN shop with lots of amazing flashes, many by the acclaimed artist and owner, Aaron Bell. There are now two locations, the main store in Ballard and a second in Wallingford - on 45th, just off I-5 (previously Revolution Tattoo.) The tattoo artist who I worked with at the Wallingford shop was Ed. Ed not only does a great job in applying the tattoo, he is very helpful with artistic suggestion on placement, choice, etc. and makes you feel right at home. So, if you're in need of some terrific body art, Slave to the Needle is *the* place to go for all your tattooing needs. more
