ACI Career College

I came to this school because of the hands on trainign. And I am getting it. Pros: A lot of hands on training Cons: The teacher does not care OR teach more

I am a student at ACI in the Phlebotomy course. I am currently awaiting my extern (which was stated during my orientation could take some time). I have nothing but possative things to say about Mrs. Charlene and her Phlebotomy course. and unlike those who 'ASS'ume I am an employee, I am not. Mrs. Charlene teaches straight from the books, teaching medical terminology and Phleb. She is dedicated to helping those student willing to progress in the course and become phlebotomist. I can say she goes a little over board for some students who in my opion don't deserve it as well. Being a former MA / Phlebotomist I can tell you that the field is constantly changing.. that is why their is QA and OSHA guidelines. The course itself is 10 to 12 weeks long program and you actually have to apply yourself, come to class ever day, study and put your personal effort into the course there is so much you can get out of it. This is a vocational course (not a state university), it is here to teach you the basics needed for Phlebotomy and to give you the tools needed to become a great phlebotomist in any health care facility. But you must apply yourself and actually be willing to take the initiative to take the proper steps needed in obtaining a job following completion of the course. We are not children who should need to have our hands held and walked through the job search process. There is a board that is constantly updated on potential jobs, all you have to do is ask and the help is there when needed. The only negative thing that I found frustrating about the course is the lack of extern sights, but I have seen the effort put into obtaining more sights too. I would say if you can, go find your own sight (again this stuff mentioned in the interview prior to signing anything). In your own search you will find a higher respect for the employees behind the desks who actually are trying to seek out potential sights for the individual courses. Honestly, if you are looking for a vocational sight then by all means don't take someone elses word for it, do your own research and make your own choice then you have no one to blame but yourself for the school you choose. One last thing I have to say is if you want to post negative things and you truly stand by them, by all means don't be afraid to sign your name at the end. Have a great day!! I was a student in the phlebotomy course. When I first arrived i had hopes and dreams...then I met Ms. Charlene reeves.... Her training methods are totally disgusting... Everything they promise you, is all just lies... They say they will review with you and she doesn't she always has something better to do. Like reading her email or going online, calling her family in the middle of class or talking to the other teachers instead of helping you. She gives you paper work that has nothing to do with the class, and the books you get are really out of date. She doesn't go over the national test with you, nothing from what you actually learn is what you need to know for the test. They say they help you get an extern , However when you ask them where you are on the extern they never give you a straight answer. They say the class is only twelve weeks but you end up being there for longer despite what they tell you. Please do not go here for training. Pros: not a dayum thing Cons: everything more

I was an employee at ACI career college and to be honest it was an ok school at first until the wicked witch YOLANDA NEWELL came in the picture. Anyhow shes not worth my time to talk about. The school is horrible because of the fact that when they sign you up they promise you JOB PLACEMENT!!!!!!!!!! If the school has the connection with sites out there then why wouldn't they help you get a job???? You must be kissing alot of a** whoever you are (the one in pharmacy tech class) I know from expierence that the staff at that school doesn't do sh*t to help you find a site for your externship or help you find a job. Advice for the people who are stuck at the school find your own externship site and just give them the information, make your own resume and fax it yourself because they won't do it for you. I was one of the very 1st people to help Pat Cochran get the school up and running. I knew after I tried to make positive changes and establish policies and practices, that this would not work. The school was never finished, problems were not addressed and the owners work against the employees. It is not accredited. It takes years for a school to become accredited. The problem is because they have the beauty school, Ms Cochran has become friends with people in high places. Reporting this school to the State is the 1st place to begin though. When the State comes in and sees the beauty school students, they should question it. Additionally, following their own policies is significant to the State or an accrediting body. So, if you have a catalogue, use it against them. Document and date all incidents. Contact the state after you gather your info. Pros: ABSOLUTELY NONE Cons: EVERYTHING more

I have been reading the postings from other people on here regarding this school. They are correct!! As a former employee I can tell you for sure that they ARE NOT accredited. The laws on accreditation are you have to have positive income flow in the school for 2 years before an application can even be submitted. They have only been there for a little over 2 years MAYBE 3, they have never been in the green! They only have a handful of students at this time so they are panicking. They can't even afford to pay their debts let alone be in the green. Yolanda Newell is a desperate little follower who doesnt have a mind of her own but instead has hers up the booty of Pat Cochran. Is this school, if you want to call it a school, still open? You drive by and you can count on one hand how many cars are in the parking lot. If they were smart they would leave it as a branch of their beauty school because they don't know a darn thing about the health and wellness industry. They got rid of so many great people just because the owner got a hair up her rear and decided she didn't like that person. She does not know how to deal with employees. I have never wished bad for anyone but the owner is the must unprofessional back stabbing woman in the world. Her assistant is just as bad, if she is still around but I am sure she is because she has borrowed so much money from them because her life is as screwed up as it can be. What ever happened to leaving your problems outside the front door. That certainly does not happen in this god forsaken place. How can you efficiently and effectively run a school when you change the rules every week. I visited this so called ACI school, Im not impress with what the positive comments on this web site. The reason is, when I went to check out the place, there were students that are plain unhappy looking, plus the place itself did not say healthcare for me. The admin were not very familirized with what the school is suppose to be givng, classes wise. I know some of the students that did attend this school and they surely said NO WAY JOSE!!! They have told me plenty of reasons why I should not consider this school. But I did check it out and they were right!!! I myself would not consider going to this ACI place. I checked out other vocational school and I am currently on my externship. I didnt have to find my own, my school found it for me, plus a possibility of being hired where Im externing. Now thats a school to go to and worth every penny of it!!! MY ADVISE TO FUTURE HEALTHCARE STUDENTS, CHECK OUT OTHER SCHOOLS AND COMPARE BEFORE SIGNING ANYTHING!!! dont be fooled by the sales pitch. I think this school should stay as a beauty school. Since most of the students are beauticians that are parked and attending the classrooms. Most of their supplies are for hair. Curlers and blowdryers. There were days when we were having class and their blowdryers were cranking up. At first I wasnt sure why the heck they have these students in supposedly healthcare building. I realized that after graduating and still no job because no one would hire me because I went to this school. (believe me, If the school is not accredited, you cant take your state certification nor find a job). I regret going to this school 110% and I hope that NO OTHER STUDENT would get con to attending this fake school they call ACI. The state would close the building down if they do not have enough students attending it. Thats why they have to move some of their beautician students to that building, so they can show that they have students attending. As I said before, this ACI school should stay as beauty school!!! I was one of the future healthcare students.... believe me, I checked out most schools in the central valley. When I visited ACI, I thought I was walking to a warehouse. Didn't feel quit right! I'm currently going to a vocational school that is known and yes it has a bigger class, however, we have a lot of hand on on pharmacy tech. We do more than just visiting a pharmacy. Our instructors goes far above and beyond. We learn more than just counting pills and its name, we learn a lot about anatomy and physiology (in detailed). Our school spends the money on students (we all can see it). We like our instructor, besides having a degree, she has more knowledge on what a pharmacy tech should be and go above and beyond. When I visited ACI, I asked about the classes they offer. I don't think the admin knows a think about any of the healthcare. After that visit, I definately didnt want to go to that school AT ALL!!! I would rather spend my time and money were it will be worth my education. Pros: i have none Cons: everthing more

Im currently attending ACI as we speak I will be done with my class (pharmacy tech) in late january early February, I have to say that after reading these reviews I was left with a overwhelming feeling of embarresment and pity for those students are are taking any of the other courses that ACI offers(other than pharamacy of course). Have you ever herd that saying The Teacher Makes The Class.... well in my case that is 100% TRUE, I absoloutly love being in Miss. A's pharmacy class I have learned soooooooo much from her it's just flat out amazing, and you know what else it's not that I have learned so much but because Miss. A really truly cares about her students she really wants us to go out into the world and succced in our trade and she will do everything in her power to see that it happens. To ALL students that are looking for a GEAT CAREER IN healthcare... READ the Negative status of this school. They are the real Students, Former students, People that checked out this school (like me), and others that is not employed by ACI. Don't be fooled by the positive comments!!! ITS NOT REAL!!! The school need to stop con-ing student to attend this school. THIS school is NOT ACCREDITATED!! They can not teach or do anything that will recommend u to do in the healthcare field. The books are outdated. the materials are lacking. So many to mention. But the worst thing is that the people that run this facility has no or little knowledge of Healthcare. Im an RN and when I visited this ACI place for my daughter, I knew that this is not a good place for her. I asked questions that the admin (will not mention her name) CANNOT answer. The classroom (so they call it that) are rooms that was just built in with 4 walls. No lab rooms for students to use (more like a storage back room). Really weird place to be in. When I read these positive comments about this school (dated 11-24 thru 11-25), I called all my friends that knows about this school. I'm glad that I did and went ahead and had their imput put in! Thank you guys!! For the positive comments, your job must be on the line to lie about this school. Desperate alright!! to get students to come to this school. I just hope that no future students would attend this no good school. Too many bad things to mention about this school. Whoever u are that is writing this positive comments about ACI (possibly an employee) must be really desperate to con students to attending this school. It is possible that ur job is in the line. I don't blame u. However, pretending to be a student to write positive comments IS a desperate way of doing it. My friends daughter went to this pretend school for healthcare. She's been very disappointed with the school. Her daugther was an A student and have gone thru the bad changes that the school had made and now that she is done, my friend had been calling the school for her daugther to go to her externship. The school would not return her call AT all. Theres a possibility that this school has a bad rep with healthcare offices. I don't blame them, the student really doesnt get the hands on experience (school is not accredited). I visited this school before(2x) and believe me, ITS NOT A REAL SCHOOL.!!! I am currently a student to this school and I so do not recommend to attend this school. I TOTALLY REGRET COMING HERE!!! whoever posting positive comments... ITS NOT TRUE. My friend who went to this school last year STILL HAVENT GOT AN EXTERNSHIP NOR A JOB. Im totally concern about mine if and when I graduate. I DO NOT LIKE THIS PLACE. We are being watch all the time like criminals. The staff acts friendly but when I need help, they have no idea what to do. This place is aweful!! Seriously, R U Kidding ME??!! I went to ACI and this place is a dump!!! Literally DUMP!!!!. Been there, done that and now I'm stuck with thousands of dollars. I have been looking for a job for a year now and no one wants to hire me because I went to this aweful school of Jokes!!! Don't believe these positive comments! ALL IS FALSE!!! however, one true thing about ACI, it is a small class..... THATS because no students would attend this school. I got con on going to this school... I really wish that I didn't. Pharmacy tech does not make $22 of the bat! Prison does not hire pharm tech, they hire Pharmacist. So whoever is writing these false positive notions about ACI should consider researching before posting false objectives!!! I'm assuming the writers are employee(s) of this school. Just because I've seen this place (ACI CAREER COLLEGE) and believe me, THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!.. Pharm tech base salary is about $18000- 25000 depending on experience. This is the average scale in the central valley area. I know this because I go to a legit school and my instructor does not sugar coat what is real out there. He told us of hand what we would be making once we are out there. Plus he has the knowlege of pharm tech because he use to be one... he is now a parttime instructor and a pharmacist at a local hospital. I came to ACI first to attend the phlebotomy courses and quickly changed my mind and decided to go ahead and take a chance with the pharmacy tech class. I'm glad I made that decision because it has truly changed my life. There is never a dull moment in Miss A's class and we always have a good time while we're learning. I understand all of the bad comments about the school and I totally agree, but if you want a great career and future, then you should attend the pharm tech classes. Almost every student has been hired and is still currently at there job. I enjoy the class and the teacher, I learn something new everyday and i know my money wont go to waste because with Miss A as my teacher, i know i'll succeed and go far in life.
