One is the lowest I could go 8/19/2010

I would never take my pets here. I would sooner leave them at home alone than leave them here. After one of my friends had her pet die here, and the other having its meds mixed up with anothers, there is no way I would take my pet in here. Unless you want your pet hopped up on anothers meds, and about as alive as Michael Jackson by the time you pick them up. more

Hillrose - My funnest Job 7/29/2010

As an employee of Hillrose Pet Resort I work as a playtimer, a receptionist, and a groomer. I feel that this is a place for pets of all kind and I would take my own pets here as soon as I get them. Most of my coworkers have pets of their own and treat the pets that stay with us like family members. We've dogs and cats of all kind. We've taken care of iguanas, snakes, rabbits, birds, and even fish! Pros: Friendly, Incredibly Clean, Convinient Location, Rural Cons: Large Facility, more

My pet's vacation location! 4/25/2010

I have a very large dog that is unpredictable around strangers so I was aprehensive about boarding my dog. The staff at Hillrose Pet Resort are friendly and welcoming. The first time I called to board my dog I had tons of questions. The person I spoke with answered all my questions and invited me and my dog in for a tour. The facility is very clean and organized. The dogs are kept seperated at all times which was one of my requirements. We have boarded our dog in the basic area and also splurged for the suite a few times (which has a bed and tv with videos running all day). Although my husband and I miss our dog when we have to board him we know he is in good hands. I would reccommend Hillrose Pet Resort to anyone that is seeking a home away from home for their pet. Pros: Close to the airport, very clean, very accomodating. Cons: Can get spendy but much more affordable than the competition more

A Happy-temporary-home 3/18/2010

Our cat does not like dogs! The beauty of the cat rooms are that it's quite, and peaceful. You cannot hear the dogs barking in the nearby kennel. There are windows to the outside as well as into the room for visual interest. Our cat is very comfortable there and we rest easy while away, knowing that she is getting good care. Pros: Close to SeaTac airport more

Doggies know best 3/4/2010

My dogs rejoice upon arrival. They don't even say good-bye when I drop them off. The staff know them and they know me, and never has anybody dropped the ball. Dogs love this place, and that's all that really matters. Pros: Dogs wag going in, dogs wag coming out Cons: none more

Every Time we go Away.... 3/1/2010

We know exactly where we are taking our 2 dogs! Hillrose Pet Resort is great, very friendly, our dogs go in Happy and come out Happy, Tails are always wagging and they always look good. We are so happy we found a place we can trust when we have to leave our pups. Pros: Everything Cons: None more

Bailey's Favorite Resort 2/9/2010

Bailey usually doesn't warm up to strangers, but the employees here at Hillrose were very patient with him. This is a nice, clean facility with a staff who genuinely cares about the well being of your pet. Pros: Awesome location, friendly staff Cons: None, though I wish they had online cameras to see your dog more

Our dog loves it and so do we. 2/9/2010

Our dog has been boarding at Hillrose Pet Resort for 10 years. The staff has treated her well and genuinely seems to care about the animals that stay there. Some of them recognize her when we come in. She seems to like it there and bounds in whenever we take her. Pros: Friendly to the dogs staff, clean, open good hours more

great place for your cats, convenient to SeaTac 1/4/2010

The hours M-F 7am-7pm, and sunday hours 2:30-8:30pm make it easy to pick up on the way home. The staff are friendly and clearly love animals. Our cats are very happy here when we are away. Pros: Large condos, separate air circulation, windows Cons: shorter hours on Sat more

Shasta's home away from home 12/30/2009

Shasta has been staying at Hillrose for several years now and eagerly leaves us each time we bring her for a stay. The staff at Hillrose have been very patient with our dog the escape artist. They have gone out of their way to accommodate her antics and now give her a covered kennel so she won't try to escape. Shasta always comes back home well-mannered and happy. We have never been told there is no availability when making a reservation. We know Shasta is safe and well-cared for so we have no reason to consider boarding her anywhere else - Hillrose is certainly Shasta's home away from home. Pros: Care and thoughtfulness of staff, cleanliness, availability Cons: None more

Lots of Love 12/28/2009

Hillrose Pet Resort staff are loving and kind to my golden retriever and siamese cat. We rent the suite so the two can remain together, and they are happy to return each time. They are loved and cared for, as they return home very happy. I feel confident they are well taken care of while I have to be away traveling. Pros: Loving my babies... more

I love my job... 12/10/2009

as a 'playtimer' at Hillrose Pet Resort! I have worked part-time for Hillrose for 3 years, and it is one of the best jobs I have ever had, not only because I have the joy of playing with all of the many wonderful dogs and cats that stay with us, but because the staff here is great too! Each and every Hillrose employee is an animal lover. We all believe your pets are our pets while they are in our care and we take their care very seriously. I highly recommend this facility to you, and not just because I work for them, but because I trust them to care for my pets while I'm away from home too! Pros: great staff, reasonable prices, convenient location Cons: none more

So kind, so caring, so great 4/24/2009

We left our two very small, very timid Yorkies' here for a week. This was a first for us and we were more nervous than the pups. The staff was so kind and responded to our every need - even to my calls to check on things. When we arrived to pick them up (early) they were in the office getting lots of extra attention. I read the other reviews before we went so we checked out the concerns raised - we found no issues. Also the charges for the "extras" were less than other facilities that were not near as nice. This will be a regular vacation spot for our babes! more

Very Good 1/2/2009

The staff was great! Very friendly and accommodating every time I called and at pick up / drop off (don't know what the two other reviewers were talking about!). Pros: Customer Service, Cleanliness, Extended Hours, Proximity to Airport Cons: Bit expensive for me, but worth the costs for a healthy, happy dog. more

My cat really did well here 7/23/2008

I travel on business and sometimes have to leave my cat here when I am gone for an extended period of time. I love my cat very much and her health and security are very imortatnt to me. I hate leaving her anywhere but have to admit she does really well in the kitty suites and seems to like the staff that spend alot of time in the cattery. I have been taking her hear for years and have only used the Paradise Pet Lodge in the past which I really liked but my cat did not. I strongly recomend this place the cats all seem content to me. I think this is my first online recommendation of anything... more

Already scared 6/29/2008

I'm in a pinch and needed to make arrangements to take my two yellow labs to Hillrose while I travel in August. The girl at the front desk is so rude on the phone, I can't imagine my dogs will be treated nicely at all!! She was completely disconnected and kept asking the same questions over and over again. I pray that some of the housesitters I've contacted will call me back so I can cancel this reservation. From the screaming dogs I hear in the background, I imagine mine will come home totally stressed out. I hate taking my dogs to a place like this. At least when it was run as Atwoods the employees (I used them once 5 years ago) were totally sweet to the dogs and loved them. more

Well below marginal! 6/22/2008

The staff is inefficient, and they add "extra" charges for almost everything from medicine ($0.50 per tablet per dose) to 15-min. of play times. You'd think those rates would include normal levels of TLC for Rover (not his real name). Basically these guys were a fallback for us, and I wouldn't leave our dogs there again. Pros: Usually available in a pinch Cons: expensive, unfriendly, inefficient, dogs unhappy when picked up more

Too large and impersonal 10/23/2007

We left our two dogs there for two nights over the weekend. When we showed up to check-in, the staff was impersonal. You cannot leave any bedding with your pets, except a towel or t-shirt. They say that bedding is provided, but they will not show the facilities. They conduct tours only twice a week and absolutely will not show the facility any other time. This leads me to believe they spruce up the place before a tour to give an "ideal" appearance. They will only give you a "virtual tour" via a DVD, but the DVD shows no bedding in the kennels. They claim the DVD is out-of-date, but again, will not give an impromptu tour. The dogs stayed in the same enclosure. When we arrived to pick them up, the people, again, were not friendly. They only know your pet by the kennel number, and they tell you your dog had a nice visit, only if you ask. There is no personal touch to this place at all. One came back sick and lethargic and looked like he had lost weight. They never mentioned any problems. They both smelled terrible and we had to wash them immediately when we got home. The website description and photos lead you to believe this is a great place, but I do not recommend anyone take their pets there. You also have to purchase playtimes for your dog, which we did. Our one dog came back so stressed and sick that we can't imagine anyone gave him any personal attention or they would have noticed and informed us. The only positive thing about this place is that they are open on the weekends and for late pick-ups on Sunday nights. Pros: Weekend hours Cons: Impersonal, poor customer service, no impromptu tours more

Marginal 10/20/2007

We periodically leave our dog at Hillrose (formerly Atwood's), but usually only for a couple of days at a time. The facility is clean and the staff are competent if inefficient. Our main complaint stems from their tendency to add "extra" charges for almost everything: medicine ($0.50 per tablet per dose), play times (I think it's $4 for a 15-minute play time), and the like. It's confusing and inconvenient, but more than that, it's really expensive, and it's not like their daily rates are cheap -- they're in the neighborhood of $23-26 depending on size. You'd think those rates would include normal levels of TLC for Rover (not his real name). Basically these guys are a fallback for us, and I wouldn't leave our dog there other than in a pinch. more

We'll leave our dog friend there in the future! 1/4/2007

We were extremely pleased with the staff and facility of Hillrose Pet Resort. It was the first time we had to leave our little chihuahua, Lulu, and we left her there with confidence. Of course, she got to stay in the office and spent a lot of her time there cuddled up on the staff's lap! I really can't comment on the outdoors areas or the kennel areas. What we saw was very nice & clean. The staff was very friendly. Pros: Friendly staff, nice facility, fair prices Cons: wish they opened up much earlier so we can catch early flights. more
