Review content:
I have been a patient at Partners for 2 years now. My most recent pelvic exam was with a Nurse Practitioner. She wasn't the most friendly, but the exam went okay. That was until I asked about wanting to discuss the possibility of having another baby. The NP looked at me shocked and said, ""We can't help women like you."" What the heck? Women ""like me""?! I imagine she meant that since I was 40, it would require some special considerations and the possible assistance of a fertility specialist, but she could have selected her words more carefully and with less annoyance. To make matters worse, I had a nurse call me afterwards and say, ""I was told that you need to see someone for infertility."" WHAT? Who says I'm infertile already? Geez. I turned 40 and the assumption at Partners is that I'm a dried up, infertile, desperate woman, I guess. Needless to say, I expressed my offense to the wording and will be seeing a different OBGYN clinic. I think they need a little sensitivity training!
