I picked out the car i wanted with no hassles from salespeople. I thought about it for a week or so. Then i called the sales staff, the girl i spoke with took my credit app over the phone and called me back with an approval in about 20 mins. I went out and picked up my new car. I love it. I have had no problems with it. I was taking it to the Mazda dealer for oil changes, but i realized that Mazda was charging me twice as much for oil changes than carmax does. So i am back to the service deptartment at Carmax. The only problem I have with them is their service dept is so hard to reach on the phone.Other than that i have love my carmax experience.And so have 4 of my friends who have purchased cars from carmax. more

I bought a car from Carmax 11/4/2005

I read the reviews and do not feel the same about CarMax. It was a no hassle deal and I had such a better experience here than at other major name dealerships. As with any car buying experience, lots of paperwork takes time, but as far as trading my car and purchasing another, I had no problems. I didn't have the car transferred, I picked one from the lot stock. PROS: Friendly people (not intimidating like other dealerships) CONS: Paperwork more

Carmax 7/30/2005

I have been to Carmax twice, and both times have not been good experiences. It always starts out at the appraisal. But I have heard that they don't like to give you money for your car anyway. Why is it that I took a car there to be appraised and was told $750, yet I took it to a different dealership and they gave me $3500???? I will never go to Carmax again; it's obvious that they don't want my business. more

Beware of Carmax! 7/25/2005

CarMax has a very nice selection. However, the experience I had was so frustrating. The car I wanted was in Louisville, KY, so I paid to have it shipped to Memphis. I waited over 2 weeks and still no car. Come to find out, they sold it in Louisville and never bothered to tell me. It took over a month to get my money refunded. Then, they were unable to find another car of the same model for the same price. They were quick to offer me a car that was $2000 more expensive. No thanks! Beware of CarMax, especially if you are having a car transferred from another location! PROS: large selection CONS: awful customer service more
