Best

I visited with my best friend for some catching up time. We had a glass of wine at the bar during the short wait for a table. The restaurant was full but we were seated quickly. T...

The portions were microscopic and the menu was flat out bizarre with lots of rudibagas, and turnips Pros: ambiance Cons: price, menu

They'd get four stars just for their appetizers! 1/8/2010

Tom Douglas should probably get the key to the city. He gets the best local foods and turns it into the greatest local cuisine. I have never had french fries better than those at Palace Kitchen, yet the olive poppers surpass even these. I've found myself tempted by the hamburgers and I'm a vegetarian! The ballet like precision of the activity of the staff, which almost seems choreographed, amazes me; your meal itself will reflect their gracefulness . There may be no better place to enjoy happy hour in Seattle (and that means all of Washington) and the price of the fare is much more than fair; two people can do quite nicely for less than $30. Choosing the menu, making recommendations, is impossible because Tom Douglas only makes perfect dishes. more

The Sad State Of Lettuce 8/1/2006

The service was perfect, my mojito was great and then I was served a caesar salad that was made with lettuce that had no flavor. It was depending on the dressing which didn't come through. My burger and fries were served with a wilted, sad piece of lettuce and mushy tomatoes. Apparently good lettuce is hard to find. I'm a little unclear why this restaurant is as crowded as it is. more

Can't Go Wrong w/Tom Douglas 6/17/2006

Tom Douglass is the best and this place is a favorite of mine. Good seasaonal choices, Northwest flair...and the world's best coconut cream pie. Great downtown location and open late nights--definitely the place to go when you're going to be downtown for an evening. more

Palace Kitchen 4/12/2006

I really have to go with The Palace Kitchen. This is the Douglas restaurant that best integrates the atmosphere, menu, wine list, bar program, cuisine and service to deliver a truly honest experience. I return over and over again for the lusty nature of the cuisine...robust flavors and aromas...generous glass pours...well made cocktails and the best execution of the Tom Douglas brand of service. Have some plin for me! more

Palace Kitchen 3/28/2006

Tom Douglas at his best. This place is great. It has a lounge type atmosphere - dim lights and a bar in the center of the restaurant. The food is amazing. The menu changes regularly and whatever you order is guaranteed to be delicious. The restaurant is tucked away in Belltown close to the Cinerama and in walking distance to Pacific Place and Westlake. Service is almost as good as the food. This restaurant is a must-visit in Seattle. more

Fine Dining+Late Night Grub=Near Perfection 3/16/2006

While the Palace Kitchen is certainly an expensive night out for most budgets, it is also an extremely gracious one. The ambience is satisfyingly lush, and the space is interesting with its horseshoe shaped bar. The wine list is lovely. When you glance at the menu, you may at first be put off by the idea of paying such premium prices for relatively simple fare. But therein lies Tom Douglas’s artistry; he has a way of making the commonplace extraordinary, and turning out exquisitely balanced dishes. Open late and usually busy, the service here is a bit less attentive than I normally expect from fine dining. Otherwise excellent. more

So tasty, I am thinking of going there now 2/9/2006

I haven't been here in awhile, but I fondly remember the good food and service while eating here. It has a hamburger on a 2 tiered platter. What else do I need to say? Well, I guess I should say all the food and beverages there are great, don't let the burger comment steer you towards or away. I found the fish there to be exceptional as well. more

My favorite 9/6/2005

The Palace Kitchen is my favorite spot in all of Seattle. I love the decor, the staff, the ambiance, the food...I love it all! My extended family, with our varied tastes, all found something to enjoy on the menu. And the wine! Unlike some Seattle restaurants, there is a range of prices that doesn't sacrifice quality. You can find a nice bottle for $20-$30. The bar is great for people watching, although it can get crowded. Just go! You no doubt will love it for your own reasons! more

Tasty goodness 8/30/2005

I've been to the Palace Kitchen several times, but always with vegetarian friends, in situations where we were sharing dishes. So, I can attest that vegetarians can find enough to eat! The cheese platter, though lightly filled, is excellent. All the dishes are so creative, with intriguing combinations of flavors and textures. Staff are extremely professional and atmosphere is very downtown. Perhaps a bit pricey, but you definitely get your money's worth! more

Best Burgers in Seattle Served Until 1AM! 8/30/2005

Of all of Tom Douglas's restaurants, the Palace Kitchen is hands-down my favoritie. It has a great atmosphere, which I would describe as "casual metropolitan." The menu has many good options for small and larger meals. They can accomodate small and medium sized parties (and an occasional large group if you call ahead). Their menu rotates dishes with locally sourced products, but there are a couple of stanby favorites that you really must try. My husband and I are vehement that the Palace Kitchen serves the best burger in Seattle. The roasted chicken is also wonderful, prepared differently every time with interesting sauces and flavors, but extremely reliable. The ravioli called "Plin" as an appetizer or main course is very yummy. And you must try Tom Douglas's famous coconut cream pie. I think I may have fallen in love with my husband on the date where he ordered this for dessert. Absolutely divine! And best of all -- the Palace Kitchen is one of the few places in sleepy Seattle that serves food after 10pm! more
