Authentic Indonesian Cuisine 12/8/2010

The server answered all my questions, and helped me find the right dish for me. The appetizer was great, and my food was well prepared, and very tasty. One problem... the vegetables that came with my meal were soft, and cold, as if they had come from a can, or had been frozen. Try the coconut rice it was great! And the Jasmin tea was spot on! more

Really LOUD 5/26/2010

On my first weekday visit my friend and I find a business meeting in progress right next to us,with speakers standing and shouting out instructions to the group. There were 12-15 very obnoxious loud people conducting this luncheon meeting, totally oblivious that there were others at this restaurant. No doubt their $5.95 lunch specials were cheaper than renting a proper meeting space. And folks say children can be loud and inconsiderate, this was 10 times worse.\r This tiny little restaurant is NOT the proper place to conduct meetings, and ruined what would have been a very nice lunch for my friend and I. Pros: excellent food and service Cons: no ambience and rude customers more

BEST indonesian food in town! 1/15/2009

My new BFF! :) I went here twice last week! First was for dinner with a friend. Their satay and corn fritters are yummy! For entrees, I had the yellow rice and she had the fried noodles. Both of us loved it! Found out that they have great lunch specials for just $7 (including drinks) so i decided to stop and try out their lunch. I had their sweet bbq chicken with sweet tea, tasty and great portion for the price. Btw, read on their site that they recently catered to the Indonesian president. If they are good enough for the president, you should give this gem a try! Pros: tasty food, friendly staff, great value Cons: i cant think of any more

This place has GREAT Indonesian food. I am so happy to have found them and will order again and again. more

Personal opinion: not very bad, at least I finish one dish out of four 9/1/2008

Some Food is good. like the Toge Cah Terasi: bean sprouts with tofu and green onion and spicy sauce. it taste like it cooks with Vietnamese fish sauce which is using in most of the Thai/Indonesia restaurants. but it will makes you to drink a lot of water later on. Fresh but the bean sprouts is a little bit raw. I ordered an Kang Kung cah Terasi- a special aisan vegetable called Ong-choy, cooked with spicy shrimp chilli paste. Bad vegetable: very very hard, like eating rubber band. taste one bite, leave it on the table for the rest of the meal time. Appetizer: don't order the Tempe Penyet and the Sate Ayam. The first appe. is a sweet sticky cake with strange chewing feeling. very sweet, so I spilled it out. Sate ayam: sticky, sweet satay peanut sauce, boiled chicken. Not tasty. so, leave it out too. All I finish is the bean sprounts dish. Haven't tried other dishes yet. Maybe not untill a very long time . Oh, by the way, the whole restaurant is filled with food smell, wear cheap clothes, no sweater. you don't want to bring the shrimp chilli smell to your house. Pros: fresh vegetable Cons: parking, food, slow servies. more

Slow Service, Food aren't prepared fresh 7/1/2008

Well... I think this place is a little over rated.. I find the food is just OK.. I found the food weren't freshly cooked.. Compared to other restaurants.. the ingredients used weren't fresh.. and the spices most probably ready-made-spices... for the price you've to spent here.. I would bet you could get something better... especially around Northgate area.. \r \r Another thing.. SLOW SERVICE... you can't make people wait 1/2 hr just to have your order taken.. COME ON.. \r \r If you really want to enjoy good Indonesian Cuisine.. GO TO SAN FRANSICO.. there you would find lots of Indonesian restaurants that will make you go speechless.. Pros: Free Parking Cons: Food that doesn't make your day more

Slow service 3/3/2008

Would have given it a four star except for the service, food was ok, I ordered some ice cream at the end and the server refused to give me two flavors of ice cream for dessert so I had to get one flavor. The ice cream took him 20 mins to scoop one scoop while we waited for him to bring it out so we can leave. It wasn't a busy night (Sunday) don't know why they can't accomodate customer's requests or slow service at the end. Pros: Good food, order the fried dishes Cons: Slow Service more

YUM!!! 6/11/2007

This is my new favorite cuisine and new favorite place to eat it.\r \r My taste buds have always been hesitant when it comes to anything ""spicy"" or ""hot"", but living in Seattle has slowly changed that... this stuff has my mouth on fire, but I LOVE IT!!\r \r This place is just awesome. Small, ""hole in the wall"" = YUMMY type of place. They have the Indonesian music on their speakers, while you munch on a chili bbq fish. The cendol drink is very yummy too... my boyfriend just ordered a ""dessert like"" dish with jackfruit, coconut, shredded ice, - YUM! \r \r I have to brush up on my Indonesian food word bank, so that I can say more than ""YUM"" but for now, take my word for it = YUM!\r \r more

The Food Here is Phenomenal 4/4/2007

My husband and I have been wanting to try something different for a while; tired of thai, bistro, greek, etc. We went to the Indo Cafe for the first time tonight, and were amazed at the service and the food. So many exotic spices and recipes come together to make a fabulous menu. I had a very tasty vegetarian dish, and my husband had a totally unique and yummy fish and coconut rice dish. The people really know how to make great Indonesian food. Highly recommended. Pros: Unique Menu Items, Amazing Food, Great Service more

The best Indonesian restaurant 3/30/2007

This is one of my all time favorite restaurants in Seattle. I often bring friends to sample authentic indonesian food there. Service is always great, people there are very helpful and friendly, especially when I organized a group dinner there last week. Everyone enjoyed the food, and for what we had, the price was definitely very reasonable. I have tried many Indonesian restaurants in some other States and so far this one is numero uno! \r Pros: nice atmosphere, great food, friendly service Cons: sometimes there is a line for a table more

Better than expected 3/22/2007

Never up to any Indonesian food b4, I didn?t want to be too adventurous. I decided to check this out with my Indonesian friend, who has been recommending this to me for quite a long time.\r \r It?s even better than expected! Since i am from Japan, i was surprised to see that they have a Tatami room! Food tastes a bit similar to Thai but not as strong or creamy, also reasonably priced. It?s really too hard to find any room for dessert after dinner. \r \r more

will come again and again! 3/21/2007

This is my third visit in a month to this special restaurant. I fell in love with their deep fried oxtail and their spicy bbq fish. You should also try their fried dutch roll, to die for! The taste of their dishes are really refreshing to my jaded tongue. I came on a weekday night on my last visit and it was my best experience so far! Our waiter has more time to share about their cuisine a little more. If possible, i recommend going there on weekdays as their weekends can get really busy. Pros: consistently good food Cons: place can be bigger more

Nice for something different 1/28/2007

Being Dutch, I love Indonesian (the countries have a long history) so we had to give this place a shot. The food is delicious. I especially like the KRUP PUK on the side menu. I also recommend another item on the side menu - it's a hard boiled egg in a spicy tomato sauce - but I forget what it's called. The sambal is outstanding but very hot! The atmosphere was nice and pretty standard but I guess I was expecting something fancier or more romantic based on the other reviews. The service was fine and also pretty standard. All in all it was a good experience and a fun place to try something new! Pros: Food more

Authentic and Fabulous Indonesian Food!! 11/15/2006

We don't get down to Seattle that much, but when we do we don't just eat here, but also get lots of extra dishes to go. This place is the real deal - best Indonesian food I've had in a long time and it doesn't break the bank, either. The people there are all super friendly, too, you'll feel right at home. more
