Businiess name:  Macchiato Espresso Bar
Review by:  citysearch c.
Review content:
Some coffee snobs post that NYC can't brew a good cup of espresso because the water here is too ""hard."" That's BS. I've just finished a Mochaccino from Macchiato, and it was perfect?rich and well-balanced, with no sour notes and most importantly, no burnt tar taste from over-roasting like the mermaids do. The only reason NYC is not in the coffee valhalla along with Portland, Seattle and Vancouver, is that Macchiato hasn't been here as long as the other towns' stalwarts. There are some good coffee shops in Williamsburg, but this is just as good, and beats anything I've had in Manhattan.\r \r I also want to put in a good word for the grilled veggie sandwich, which was awesome. Fresh, well-spiced, and the ciabatta was perfect.\r \r Lastly, the service was great?cheerful, knowledgeable and efficient. Don't expect fast food?this stuff is made to order?but it was as fast as can be reasonably expected. If anyone from Macchiato is reading, please know that a good review from me is a rarity, and I usually post here to bitterly complain about mediocre places that the Citysearch herd heedlessly overrates. Pros: New York City, meet good espresso. Good espresso, meet New York City.
