Xac Anthony Salon

(I posted this on another review site and didn't feel like making up a whole 'nother review, but wanted them to get the exposure): This salon ROCKS. I've been out of the city for a couple of years and didn't have a regular salon. I had an emergency "I need my hair cut right now" moment, and found them online and did a walk-in....they took me in in about 1/2 an hour, no problem. It was everything I needed out of a first-time go-to. I have really long hair and am always afraid of going to a new person/salon, but they did everything spot-on. My stylist was Adam - he talked me through the whole process, explaining to me what the hell was going on each step of the way (you know how some stylists either don't tell you, or sound like they're full of it), and he knew exactly what I wanted and didn't try to talk me into something else. He. Is. Awesome. The salon itself - cute, clean, and friendly. Everyone looked sweet and cheerful, none of that sullen, doing-you-a-favor, lemon-mouthed routine. They offer a drink (wine, coffee, water, etc.) and their flyers look like they have terrific specials on certain days of the week. You can bet I've found my new stylist. p.s. - This was about a month ago, and my hair still looks great - I haven't needed to b...l.....0.....w it out (sorry, but citysearch won't let me write the spelled word! seriously) to get it to look styled. Adam knows I love him--I've told him so in person. But I wanted to spread the news that he's a genius! I found him a few months ago at a different salon, and when he moved to Xac Anthony, so did I. Little did I know that what was already a magnificent haircut on account of Adam's creative genius (he's the ONLY stylist I've ever had that could "read my hair-mind"--I have very straight, naturally highlighted hair that, if my life's history of bad haircuts has been any indication, is rather difficult to manage) could be an even more amazing, relaxing, pampering experience because of the courtesy of the rest of the Xac Anthony staff. The aura is relaxed, I was served a glass of wine during my consultation with Adam, and was treated by the reception and other stylists with the utmost gentility--as though I and my experience were their top priority. They know what they are doing, and are very good at fulfilling that objective. I will definitely go back and highly recommend both Adam and the Xac Anthony Salon to anyone looking for an amazing haircut and classy, professional service. (If the regular price deters you--which is understandable in this economy, though it really is worth EVERY penny--go on Tuesdays and receive a significant discount. My girlfriends and I got an email from a friend if mine that said, you have to go with me to this salon on Thursday! They had a special name for the evening which u forgot what they called it, they serve cocktails during a happy hour from like, 5pm til whatever time they close. I think like midnight!! Anyway, there was four of us and we all had blowouts which they drop the price on Thursdays only from I think, $60 to $40 or $45 plus you get a couple of drinks!! That is sooo cool! It's worth it! Basically our blowouts were free when you think about it! The guys who work there are really really good looking too!! Muscles and tattoos and cute butts!! The girls are pretty, young and trendy!! Great hair and makeup on them! You have to see this place, it's really big like 3,000 feet or bigger! The music is hot... Pumping like I was in a really lounge with my girlfriends looking for a few cute boys to meet! Of my hair was gorgeous and my BFF's were really happy too!!!! You gave to go! Lucia has been cutting my hair for a few years and always done an amazing job! I found her when I was looking for a new and better stylist, and she's brought my hair back to life. More importantly, she listens to my styling needs (likes and dislikes) and makes excellent suggestions for my hair. I followed her to this salon from her previous one and must say this salon is a nice change. The staff are accommodating, polite and friendly, and the salon is airy and spacious. This is the place to go whether you want a new look or just to look fabulous! Schedule an appointment with Stylist Lucia. She will make you look 10 years younger! Lucia can give you a consultation on hair color and styles that will best suit you. If you prefer, bring in a photo of the style you want and she will do it. Lucia is young and talented. She keeps up with all the new looks and products. I have been going to her for over 6 years. Not only does my hair always look great but I look younger than ever. I was hesitant to try someone new after 15 years with the same hair dresser. I got lucky when I found Jeanise. She's the best! At our initial meeting, she took her time to evaluate my hair and didn?t try to push me into anything I didn?t want. She also suggested that I have a protein treatment. What a life saver! My hair has never been this healthy and my color looks so natural. I've gotten a number of complements since Jeanise has graced me with her magic touch. THANK YOU!!!!!! i had my hair hilighted by david lyle jones and it came out beautiful; everybody loved it. he was patient and didn't push me to cut my hair. he said i should let it grow another inch before shaping it. he used a baliage method for the hilights and it looks fresh and natural. the people who work there are so welcoming and do their best to make you comfortable. i highly recommend this place. Found my favorite hair colorist here. Her name is Ariane Garcia. She is awesome. She made me feel really comfortable and the aftermath of what she had done to my hair was exactly what I wanted. Thanks a million, Ariane! more

I have been getting my hair straightened with the Japanese treatment for 4 years now. The very first time I had the treatment I got it done at a salon (I wont mention where) and they FRIED it!! It was the most horrible experience I ever had. It turned me off completely to the whole treatment and threw me into a depression for weeks, until my friend recommended Masako. I made an appointment for a consultation and Masako treated my hair with deep conditioner to repair the damage then i followed up with two more conditioning appointments until my hair was ready to try the Japanese straightening again. When it was ready Masako gave me the treatment and completely turned my life around! my hair was AMAZING! I now follow up with my treatments every 6 months! I would never go anywhere else!!! Masako of Xac anthony salon came highly recommended to me by a co worker of mine! English isn't her first language but her message to me was very loud and clear... " I am the best " Well, she didn't say that... but as she explained how it works to me, I was certain she was! I never had anyone take so much time and effort in making my hair look so good as Masako did. Its been a few weeks now.. my hair is so silky smooth and I never had so many compliments before. I am in the entertainment business and I recently went to Xac Anthony salon to get extensions put in my hair to make it fuller and longer for my music video. Lysette hair make-up artist and what I call one fabulous extension specialist with the assistance of Ariane Garcia their top of the line colorist took a sandy blond hair and matched it perfectly to my red hair. I had long layered beautiful full red hair by the time I walked out of there I felt like a new woman with the confidence of a superstar. In the video wind blowing thru my hair lights camras action my hair looked flawless and I flet so beautiful. As soon as you walk through the door you are treated like royalty. You get greeted and asked if you would like a drink as if you are a guest in a home. The salon itself is gorgeous! The interior is absolutely amazing. I went the day of my birthday to get a specific pin up look. I walked in with a book of paintings, 1960's pin-up by Gli Elvgren, and i showed Lysette D., a hair stylist there. She simply looked at the picture and did my hair by storm. She was incredible and precise. I have to say leaving Xac Anthony's I felt like the pin up girl in the Gli Elvgren painting. I couldn't believe it was me staring back in the mirror. It was a breathtaking experience. I would recommend any and all women and men to go and experience the memorable experience that is Xac Anthony's Salon and Spa. I've been without a hairstylist for almost a full year now, and have bounced around to a number of places that either made me look like a Texan bimbo, a tart or I felt like i was thrown on a conveyor belt of beauty, rushed through and billed. This place is on the opposite end of the spectrum. The colorist, Jenise sat with me for a good 10 minutes to get an idea of what I wanted, my recent history, what works for me, what doesn't. And she actually LISTENED. And then Lenny cut my hair, and same story: He actually wanted to know what I've tried in the past, what worked, what made me happy, what I wanted today. And he LISTENED TOO! They gave me wine, the tended to my every need, the people there - everyone from the woman that shamppod me to the guy that hung my coat - the customer service ranks up there with Nordstrom. Couldn't be better. And then to top it all off, I went downstairs for a massage at their new spa. Anthony. He has the hands of a god. amazingly strong. the space was so relaxing and he gave the best massage I've had outside of Thailand. To sum it up neatly: no one but Lenny and Jenise will touch my hair again, not for a long long time. And I will never go anywhere else for a massage, not as long as Anthony works there. Amazing. Where do I begging expressing my experience at this AMAIZING salon. I was greeted with excellence & treated like a star. No actually a princess. I was escorted to the back of the salon, offered a glass of wine, while another person took my coat. I was lead to the colorist chair, where I met Ariane, one of the wonderful colorist that XacAnthony's has to offer. Before she & I started Lenny, one of the stylists of XacAnthony's, who in my opinion is wonderful. However, you will read all about him later in this review. Ariane examined my hair gentle, while asking me question about what I am looking for. Once she and I had decided what would be the color for me, she proceeded to color my hair with an amazing precision. Once she finished & the color was set, she lead me to another chair where she gentle helped me my seat. She used perfectly warm water to rinse all of the dye from my hair & preceded to use the most amazing shampoo & conditioner I?ve her used. If you want to know what it is, well I suggest you go to XacAnthony?s & find out for yourself. It?s too wonderful to just reveal on a review. The shampoo they use leaves your hair perfectly clean & the conditioner has the most amazing mint-like feeling of clean, leaving your hair with a rich smooth, & soft feeling. I loved it so much I now use it at home, but I will get back to the shampoo & conditioner later. I was lead my Ariane to Lenny?s chair. Lenny is an amazing stylist, who can only be described with words like gentle, kind, visionary, & only second to the owner of the salon. He made me into a new & beautiful woman. My hair is now growing perfectly, without split ends, or that odd look, hair gets when its in that middle stage between short & long. My hair beautiful. He has the most loving personality & the perfect bedside manners. Doctors can take a lesson from Lenny. He made me feel like my hair did not come into XacAnthony?s salon like the mess it was, but he did made me leave like a star. Pros: The Perfect Salon Cons: I can be there every week more

I am getting SO MANY compliments on Victor's work! Everyone loves this haircut! He always does a great job, but he really did a kick-ass job this time! And Brenna washes hair like no body's business. For a massage, Matthew is phenomenal. All around fabulous salon. more

I followed Lucia here from her last salon and I couldn't be happier that she has landed at Xac Anthony. I have gotten my hair highlighed ALOT in my life and at various places in the city - Bumble and Bumble, Dop Dop, Arte etc. I am brunette who goes pretty blond at times and Lucia has an incredible sense of color and always creates beautiful shades that always somehow make my skintone look beautiful and my eyes look bright. She uses low-lights beautifully and keeps detailed notes my color and hair. She is also an extremely talented stylist who listens to everything I say and gives really helpful suggestions that reveal that she has paid alot of attention to the type of person I am and how i want my hair to look. I found Lucia a few years ago at her former salon and was really happy with her but could not stand the cramped and hectic atmosphere of the place where she was working so I went elsewhere for about a year and did not find a colorist and stylist as talented and dilligent as Lucia. I could not reccomend her more. Aside from being such a great stylist/colorist, she is beautiful and smart and funny and a pleasure to spend time with! I have followed Lucia from her previous salon, and for a good reason--she cuts my curly hair like no one else! Plus, she knows her highlights--when I had no clue what I wanted, she selected two-tonal highlights for me, which were the perfect colors for my hair!! An added bonus is the salon--it is really fabulous--spacious and elegant (which is something I can say about very few salons in NYC!). Don;t forget to get a glass of bubbly next time you're there!
