Logan, or The Master as I call him is a true artist. His work is original, realistic and completely customized for not only your body, and body placement, but he through conversation and taking the time in getting to know a bit about you, he incorporates who you are in the art as well. He has done all four of my tattoos. The fourth was quite extensive; 20+ hours over 4 sessions. I absolutely LOVE my art. I would not trust anyone else to work on me. He has got me hooked! more

While I haven't had any piercings done at this shop, I have to say as far as tattoo artists go, Logan Aguilar is absolutely amazing. I recently went to him to get my first tattoo and was looking for something realistic, colorful, and original. If you're looking for a quick pick from a handout of pre-drawn tattoos, go elsewhere, because this man is a true artist. I got it on one of the supposedly most painful spots (side ribcage) and not only was he gentle, but I felt completely at ease. The hour I spent there felt like 15 minutes. He listened to everything I wanted and gave me a one of a kind, beautiful piece that I know I'll love forever. About a week after getting it done, I was interested in having him add to a few spots and he booked me a new appointment within a week. The shop is extremely sanitary and has a relaxed vibe. The rest of the staff I encountered were extremely helpful and friendly and made me not only feel at ease but excited as well. If you're looking for a great experience, whether it's your first tattoo or your fiftieth, Logan is hands down the man to go to. more

This small shop tucked away on East 4th Street in the East Village is a gem. The atmosphere is comfortable and the shop is impeccably clean. I first when to Venus to have Logan Aguilar do a repair on a tattoo. The results were amazing. Logan has a great personality and is very in touch with how you are feeling when getting inked. When talking with him about my next piece he ""got"" what I wanted and showed me an example of his vision. When it was finished it was just what I wanted, the way I wanted it. I also had a tragus piercing done by Rob at Venus. His room is sanitary and spotless. The jewelry he uses is gorgeous - precious metals with precious stones. Rob is quick and makes the piercing as painless as possible. Venus is a great place for ink or piercing. I also understand that Logan does scarification, but I think I'm a bit chicken for that... right now. more

I walked in for a tattoo, and they got me in within an hour. They are amazingly nice and super clean. I got my tattoo done by Rafael, and he was great! I couldn't be more pleased. more

I have been going to Venus Modern Body Arts for my piercing needs for the last three or four years. It was on one of those visits that I met Logan Aguilar, who is an amazing artist. I have wanted a tattoo for years, but, being diagnosed with diabetes I thought I would have to go without it. After talking with Logan more than a few times, I realized that I could actually get one done. We scheduled a seating and I had to postpone it because of health reasons. Logan was very understading and we were able to reschedule the seating. I finally got my tattoo and must say I LOVE IT. Logan was very patient and extremely gentle. He made sure I had eaten prior to the tattoo and also made sure I had something with me to eat with me while he worked. He asked more than a few times how I was feeling and even encouraged me to pop a snack to avoid low blood sugar issues. I did ask him to stop once so I could pop a snack and drink some water, he had no problem allowing me the break. It was this caring attitude and attention to detail that made me decide that I would have to get another tattoo by him even before he was finished with my first one. Logan YOU TOTALLY ROCK!! He carefully explained the aftercare to me and made sure to answer any questions I had. I am honored to consider Logan a friend as well as my tattoo artist. Venus is the best body modification shop around. I live in Boston, and come all the way down for tattoos by Logan Aguilar. I'm sad to say we just finished my rib piece of 3 huge roses, so I'm going to have to brainstorm for my next. He is the only artist I will let work on my body. Although I'm a fan of needles, I don't have many piercings. I got a botch belly button ring from a horrible place, and it turned into a staph infection. Rob removed the ring for me, taught me how to heal it, and once it was better, re-pierced it for me. It looks awesome now. All the guys are great at Venus, if I lived closer, I would stop by on a regular basis. I definitely recommend this shop, Logan and Rob. I have and will continue to bring friends here for work. I got my first tattoo - ever - done by Ralph. Not only did he make it perfect, but somehow it didn't hurt either. It was exactly what I imagined; I loved it so much, I went back for another from him. This time I got one of his Taino symbols. He re-sized it twice until it was the perfect size and then he completed it perfectly. -- I'll be going back for a third. Not only is he a super talented artist, he's calm, friendly and honest and puts you immediately at ease. I would definitely recommend him for your tattoo art; he's totally worth it. more

I've had a lot of work done by Chris, which is amazing, and I have to say that it's awesome to see him working at such a prestigious space. I've heard so much about Venus through friends and I think that Chris will definitely add to the atmosphere and artistry. He's a great guy, really laid back and patient, and his artwork is incredible. He's meticulous, fully knowledgeable, and innovative and really helps you to find what you're looking for in your chosen piece. I highly recommend him! more

Rafael was the best tattoo artist I could have imagined to do my tattoo. This was my first tattoo, and I was freaked out. Rafael was totally calm the whole time, and I felt that I could leave at any point if I decided to bail out-- but I didn't. He helped me size the tattoo and place it perfectly, so it is small and discreet but beautiful. It was clear that he knew what he was doing, and everything was clean and explained through. I love my tattoo, Rafael prepped me on everything to expect getting it and how to care for it. I would recommend that any of my friends go see Rafael for a tattoo. He perfectly combines his artistic skills with your desires to create something that you are both proud of. more

I first went to Venus Modern Body Arts to get my rook and lobes pierced by Rob, who was amazing. He was very gentle and did a great job on the placement (they are now my favorite piercings!). I never really thought of getting a tattoo here because to me, it was just a piercing shop; plus, I was pretty happy with the tattoos I had and didn't feel the need to try a new place for my next one. Then one day, a friend of mine decided to get a small tattoo here, and I went with her. I ended up getting a small thing on my ankle. I was so impressed by how nice Ralph was and how well the small tattoos came out that I went back a couple days later for another one. I brought in the design I wanted, and he redrew it, changing it slightly (and checking the drawing with me) so I wouldn't have the exact same tattoo as someone else. This was my first color tattoo, so I was kind of nervous, but I trusted Ralph to color it in well, so I gave him a general idea of the colors I wanted used and let him do his thing. He did such an amazing job--I'm so in love with the end result! The shading and blending of the colors is gorgeous, and it's a really vibrant design. Not only is the tattoo amazing, but the experience was also one to remember. As I mentioned earlier, Ralph is super nice (he asked me several times if I was ok, and he invited me to let him know if I was ever too uncomfortable, which I never was), and he really listens to what you want. I've had such good experiences here that Venus Modern Body Arts has definitely become the place I go for all future piercings and tattoos. Thanks so much!! more

I have been going to Venus Modern Body Arts for years to get piercings and jewelry, it was during one of these visits where I met Logan Aguilar, an Amazing tattoo artist. We had a great connection and trust that made me want him to tattoo me. I got my first tattoo by Logan last night, It is SPECTACULAR !! More so than I could imagine. His skill and patience hand in hand made for a thrilling ex perience. He ended up redoing the stencil a few times till it was exactly what I wanted. I stopped by the other day to get a consultation on a tattoo, and before I knew it, I was hopping on the tattoo table. Rafael was my artist, and I couldn't have asked for a better guy to get the job done. He was very professional and friendly. After showing him the design I wanted, he offered different variations on how we could shade and color my tattoo design. I'm a big baby (got my tattoo on my ribcage, and I winced... a little), but he was kind and patient with me every step of the way. All in all, clean place, great staff, and awesome tattoo artist! Had my first tattoo a few weeks back here. My artist was Logan. He was so patient with me!... gentle, explained everything so well, and did such a brilliant job. I'm so pleased with how it's turned out. I've had no problems with it what so ever. The shop is clean and well kept. They are total professionals. And completely talented. I thought their prices were good and justified for such a high level of skill. I found them purely by recommendations, and i will forever recommend them on. more

I first went to Venus with my husband to get his transverse lobe piercing, and on a whim I decided to get a cartilage stud. I'm a complete wuss about needles, so I was pretty nervous, but Rob was great -- I didn't feel a thing, and the placement was perfect. The jewelry they offer is exquisite, even if it is a bit pricey. My husband's transverse piercing was also perfectly placed, and (he says) totally painless. \r \r A few days after my piercing, and based on my good experience, I decided to have a tattoo done at Venus. I had an old, very ugly tattoo on my thigh I wanted covered up. I met with artist Rafael for a consultation, with only a vague idea of what I was looking for (cherry blossoms). In less than 10 minutes he'd designed something beautiful that was exactly what I needed, so I decided to go ahead and get it done on the spot. Like I said, I can't take pain -- and I won't lie and say it was 100% painless, but I can't imagine any way it could have been less painful. Rafael was incredibly gentle and very encouraging during the process, and I felt I was in very good hands. The tattoo came out so beautifully, I almost teared up. My ugly old tat completely disappeared, and is covered by a vibrant, elegant, and very ""me"" design. I honestly can't say enough about Rafael's skill and bedside manner. And, despite some people on here griping about price, I thought it was very inexpensive for the level of skill and beauty evident in the final work. \r \r I strongly recommend to anyone looking for a piercing or tattoo to head to Venus, and ask for Rafael if you're thinking about a tat (though I'm sure their other artists are great, too). Body art is an investment, and this place has the level of professional skill, warmth, great customer service, and beautiful jewelry and tattoo designs that anyone would want. I, my husband, and any friends who ask my opinion are sure to keep patronizing Venus for years to come. more

Venus Modern Body Arts was a great experience all around. Being from out of town i wanted an affordable piercing as well as a reliable piercer. The shop was clean, inviting, and located in the Village. Rob was my piercer and he was very gentle and knowledgeable about piercing. i couldn't have had a better experience. Ask for Rob!! It was for my first tat and Rafael was my artist. he was really friendly and gave me great advice on my ideas and helped me figure out the best tattoo for me. He was really honest and reasonable abut the price. i actually left my necklace there and he called me to tell me and held it for me until i could pick it up. my tats came out beautifully and i will definietly go back for more. After a quick consult Rafael created a custom design and detailed work that is imaginative and beautiful. His design perfectly works and fits within the natural constitution of my body and shape. Further, Rafael works quickly and carefully, he doesn't overwork the skin leaving a beautiful tattoo that will look good forever... I hope:)... I plan to live a very long long life. My husband and I live in Texas now after living in NYC and Connecticut for years and I will travel planes, trains, and cabs to get to his tattoo table. In fact, my husband said, ""don't go nuts"" and now that I am home and he has seen Rafael's work he said get as many as you want these are classy, sexy, and sensual, the kind of tattoo a girl would hope for. I must say that Ralph transformed by back into a piece of artwork. I could not be happier with what he has created. Ralph is a very talented artist and a great guy. He has done a whole back piece on me, and more on my lower back. He is in the process of finishing the rest of it and I could not have asked for more. The coloring, outlining, shading and overall piece is beautiful and I get compliments on it just about every day. He listens to what you want and totally makes it into something breathtaking. I am incredibly pleased with what he has done, and I will never go to anyone else besides him. He is very professional, creative, and will make anyones experience a great one. Ralph is charming and respectable. If this is your first time getting a tattoo, he will walk you through the process, incorporating your ideas to create a great piece of art. He will give you a couple of sketches to see what works, He does not compromise art just to make a buck. His tattoos are asethetically pleasing to the eye and body. I get many compliments on how clean the lines are and shadows are. I have recommended my family, friends, co-workers and patients. Ladies, he's the one to go to.... When entering the shop, at first it seems like it's only piercing but I was greeted by Ralph who assured me that it was also a tattoo shop and asked me what I was interested in. He showed me his portfolio so I could look at his quality of work, which is very impressive. After explaining to him what I wanted he gave me really good ideas and told me what would look best and also, suggested where it would look best on my body. I gave him a deposit and when I returned he had a couple of custom sketches for me, which I loved and quickly decided to start my tattoo. He was funny and made the experience smoother, he was patient and attentive making sure I was ok and he made sure that every detail of the piece was exact. He gave me his card and told me to call him if I had a problems or questions. I have recommended all my friends to go to Ralph and they agree with my opinion of him and his work, I am definitely coming back to getting another one. Thanks Ralph.
