Best

This place is a NYC gem and Chelsea's lucky to have it. The treats are smaller than your run of the mill Italian pastries that I'm used to which is perfect. This is a great place ...

Excited to try out some tasty treats 5/30/2012

Excited to try out some tasty treats here, based in the word of mouth I've heard. They do have very good sweets, but they're so tiny :( not a lot for your money. Again, very good, just a little too small for what I was expecting. more

Delicious! 10/30/2010

This place is a NYC gem and Chelsea's lucky to have it. The treats are smaller than your run of the mill Italian pastries that I'm used to which is perfect. This is a great place to go to before visiting a friend, there are original gifts and house stuff and you'll be a hit bringing a box of the goodies. I had the ice cream sandwiches, the marshmallows, and a bunch of the tarts....all were fantastic and will have me coming back for more. The store itself is CLean, quaint and a nice place to pass some time sipping a coffee and eating a treat. more

Chocolate Pralines = Heaven 10/16/2010

Treats here at Three Tarts are beyond addictive. If I'm in Chelsea and I need a pick-me-up nothing does the trick faster than their chocolate pralines. (I'm a fan of the chocolate yumballs, too, but really everything is good, even the savory tarts!) Everything is bite-sized, so you never feel like you're overdoing it, and each one is beautifully created. Aside from the pastries, which are the main attraction, the shop is crazy-cute. I'm always eyeballing their selection of cards. But really the sweets are the main attraction. more

amazing 9/29/2010

amazing...amazing...amazing. must try and u will be addicted. more

Delicious! 9/29/2010

I had never been here before but my friend told me about it, so when I was close by I stopped in. First thing I thought was 'how cute is this place'! They not only have yummy treats, but cute little gifts. I tried the marshmallows, and the espresso tarts, and I know I'll be back soon! Love it! more

mediocre! 3/6/2009

I was excited to try the place out, but it was not all that great. The store is cute, but there was nothing special about any of the desserts. we tried truffles, pinenut custard cups and some orange mousse. they were ok, but super tiny. it was difficult to make out the taste. i wouldn't go there again. more

Really great find! 6/23/2008

I saw the positive reviews on this site and decided to check it out. I'm a baking and pastry student currently. I had the goat cheese panna cotta with orange jewel gelee, mango sorbet, and unsweetened iced green tea. All three were really delicious. The iced tea was was freshly brewed and really strong (which I enjoy). The goat cheese panna cotta was tangy and very creamy. The mango sorbet was so creamy with a vibrant ripe mango flavor. The one thing that I was a bit surprised at when I walked in was that all the desserts are very small. The prices are very reasonable and the man behind the counter was very sweet and so helpful! The bakery also has a gift shop. There are only three tables so, seating is limited. Pros: Great iced tea, vibrant flavor combinations, great service! Cons: limited seating more

Nobody better at what they do! 12/15/2007

Sure the shop is cute. Yes, the staff is friendly and helpful. So what, I don't care! When treats are THIS tasty, I'd settle for nasty staff in a dumpy store. (After all, poor help and dirty shops seem to be a typical NYC experience. Not here!) Don't ask me to name a favorite treat, because it's impossible to do so. The yumballs, the parfaits, the bread pudding, the hot cocoa (with or without marshmallows!), the cookies - all insanely delicious. You want me to name a favorite? Fine, it's a toss-up between any of the truffles and the brownies. I'll say it again - insanely delicious! Best of all, they could easily charge 50% more than what they do on most of their treats. (Don't tell them though...) Pros: yumminess Cons: too far west ? more

Unbelievably Good! 12/8/2007

When I was visiting NYC yesterday, the salesperson in La Cafetiere (a home decor store in the next block south -- also well worth visiting) suggested that my sister and I check out Three Tarts after we left. I found Three Tarts to be a very pretty little shop and decided to buy a couple of mini bread puddings (just $0.75 each) and two Crunchy Almond Meringue cookies ($0.60 each). When I actually bit into these items later in the day, I was blown away by how fantastic they tasted, as well as the utter perfection of each item's crunchy-chewiness. Wow! Pros: Excellent products, reasonable prices, lovely presentation, fine customer service Cons: Wish shop were a little roomier more

Very original place 9/5/2007

I found Three Tarts a new idea of store in the Chelsea area, which represents a great combination of sweeties and gifts. Its major fetaure is that the quality of both categories of products is very high.... mmmhhhh, delicious truffles!!! and also very original ideas on gifts. Food is made by the owners of more

Fun and original gifts; most original sweets 8/26/2007

Three Tarts sells the most original and marvelous sweets. Our favorites: we often bring their mini tarts and ""dainties"" to friends' houses as dessert and serve them at home all the time. The lemon curd tart is exceptionally lemony and better than any lemon anything Pros: Friendly/professional/patient staff Cons: Parking difficult more

So much to choose from! 8/10/2007

The minute you enter 3 Tarts you know you've entered a taste of heaven! The gifts and treat combination can't be beat! You can stop in for a cookie or take away treats for your friends and families. Don't want to have to bake for those parties you are invited to? Bring some fresh tarts and treats in their awesome packaging! I have given holiday gifts to employees as well and have gotten great feedback from them! I enjoy the wine and biscotti combination! OH and the gifts! 3 Tarts has the unique ability to find gifts for all ages that one would not find in any old store! The staff is friendly and helpful! GO TO 3 TARTS! You will not regret! Pros: food, service, staff Cons: small area to sit and enjoy more

Great indulgences 8/9/2007

I love their ice cream sandwiches - all made right there in the store. They also have delicious parfaits and bread pudding, which you buy with the glass. They make great gifts (but they have to stay refrigerated, which is a problem in the summer). But I've bought dozens of their cookies for affordable office gifts around the holidays, and I'll probably do it again this year! Pros: Great food and unique gifts Cons: Gifts can sometimes be expensive more

Best pastries and desserts in the City! 8/9/2007

Simply the best pastries and desserts in the City. I live in San Francisco but visit NY several times a year and it is the only place that I HAVE to go to everytime- and there is nothing that good in SF! People are warm and friendly. Pros: food, service more

Great gifts, sweet treats! 8/7/2007

A great combination of gifts and treats, the perfect stop on the way to dinner parties, birthday celebrations or even baby showers. Three Tarts is best known for their sophisticated sweets, but check out their whimsical gift selection for stuff you don't normally see in Chelsea. The staff is really friendly and provides great service, another type of ""treat"" for this part of town. Pros: friendly staff, great gifts Cons: zero more

Great atmosphere, wonderful treats! 7/27/2007

Attended a private bday party at Three Tarts and had a fantastic time! Staff was wonderful and the treats we had were incredible! What a great idea to have a small party there, everyone brought something to drink and the tea was amazing. Great idea for a birthday or small baby or bridal shower. Pros: the tarts and sweets were amazing Cons: small space more

splendid experience 7/16/2007

My experience here at Three Tarts was very splendid, They have beautifully decorated desserts that taste just wonderful and the staff is so helpful. They helped me in choosing the best gift for my friends and they absolutely loved it! I would highly recommend coming here for yourself or others, for a tasty treat, or to just stop by and look, its great. more

Best desserts in NYC 6/17/2007

Three Tarts is one of a kind. From their panna cotta ""jewels"" to their uniquely delicious parfaits and their exceptional truffles, Three Tarts should be a regular stop for all your gift-giving needs. The pastry chefs creatively invent desserts that are both beautiful and delicious (many places only manage one or the other!), and the shop sells gift items that you will not find anywhere else. You will no doubt be tempted to buy a few things for yourself as well. You will not find a friendlier, more helpful staff than those at Three Tarts. Pros: parking is actually pretty easy over there! Incredibly friendly service! more

Chelsea just got a bit SWEETER 6/4/2007

Great addition to the neighborhood. Cozy sweets shop which will leave your taste buds screaming for more. Stop in to pick something up as a gift or to treat yourself to one of the many delicious treats. The Truffles are absolutely out of this world, and the ginger snaps will make your tongue want to dance. more

Confession of Passion-fruit Marshmallow Fiend 5/22/2007

In our choco-centric society, it would be easy to single out the truffles from Three Tarts, and they are very good. But try the passion fruit marshmallow. People, please, the passion fruit marshmallow is mind-boggling. I tried other marshamallows at Three Tarts, and I can testify to the excellence of the vanilla and the raspberry, but still--seriously--the passion fruit marshmallow is all kinds of crazy good. I live in Seattle, so I found Three Tarts during a visit in late '06, and I can't have the passion fruit marshamallow all the time. Count your blessings, people of Gotham. more
