Bad Customer service and Return Policy 1/27/2009

I bought Laminate Flooring from the Home Depot Store in Danbury, CT on Federal Rd. The flooring became defected within the 90day return period. I spoke to Todd (Assis. Store Manager) who told me that there is a 90 day return policy for all Home Depot products except for tools. He directed me to returns desk. I conveyed with a Woman Name Jessica about the Laminate flooring. Jessica stated to me I could bring back any product ""AT LEASE"" produce a receipt. \r I brought up the laminate Flooring from my kitchen area then returned it to the store. Once I arrive at the store location at the return desk at the Danbury Home Depot. I was told to hold while management was called. TODD came over and glanced at the product and then receipt, which showed I pay $685.95 for the laminate flooring. He told me that he wasn?t going to take the product because:\r A. It wasn?t resalable.\r B. ""I'm A manager/ I don't have to take product back because I can"". \r I produced a receipt then I told (TODD) that if I couldn't bring back Laminate flooring why was I told by their associate that I could. I requested the Home Depot Customer care line number.\r I called the Home Depot customer care line and the operator told me that policy for reporting defected flooring product. She told me that,"" ONCE LAMINATE FLOOORING IS INSTALLED"" HOME DEPOT CAN NOT EXCEPT THE RETURN"". To me, how can a customer tell if a product is malfunctioned unless they test the product first? Also, that I am not NOW complaining so much of the installation or the Quality of the product. I'm now complaining of the fact that I ""THE Customer"" was given fraudulent information about the return policy, and damaged my kitchen floors because of false information from an HOME DEPOT associates. She told Natalie told me that there was nothing more she could do but to enter my response into Home Depot customer care system. \r Now I have to deal with the consequences of ones lack of knowledge toward company standard return procedures. Pros: One of two evils Cons: Worst of two evils more
