I have just read a posting on yahoo by ""hotflower"" regarding ""The Reading Ranch"" and specifically the woman who owns and operates this program. One does not have to read very far to realize this person has an axe to grind here, or nothing else better to do with their life. Much like everything else in life, there is this little gift we have, it is called ""free will"" in the world of business it is used daily as we consumers decide which service to use and which service not to use. If we do not like a particlular service we simply quit using it. I am certain ""HotFlower"" did not like the service of The Reading Ranch and has thus chosen not to use it. Which brings me to my second observation - When we choose to use our valuable personal time to attack in generalities, we are clearly stating it is a personal matter and not a professional matter. A professional with a problem with a service will give specifics and not generalities. As Ironic as it is, one of the general complaints HOTFLOWER mentions is the program having no structure from the top down. I have two children who have attended The Reading Ranch for approximately 1 year, and I appreciate the fact that it is run in a very laid back manner. My children go to a local private school and they get all the structure they can tolerate at school. I want this program to be one that is different from what they do in school, I want a different environment in which the children are allowed to learn in a less stressful manner. If someone wants structure, rigid rules, I would be the first to tell you - go somewhere else, this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for something less stressful, something that your children will not feel like they are right back in school (afterhours) this is the place. Both of my children have benefitted from this environment or I would not be writing this post. Another indicator of the personal venom being spewed in the reference post is the ""run down and not very appealing"" comment. Really, it was in a Church, in a place of Worship - good thing this lady never had to give birth in a manger! It was not run down, it was fine. The new facility is very nice. In my profession I assist approximately 800 Corporations across the United States in dealing with disgruntled ex employees - this situation is not much different, it is a disgruntled ex-client, who is unable to let go and move forward. My experience has proven time and time again, the people who feel it necessary to attack for no good purpose using generalities are unable to accept responsibility for their own actions, their own mistakes, and they are the proverbial victim in every encounter that does not meet their needs. I have not seen a post from her stating she has found something better, with specific reasons why it is better. These people never have a solution, they only have a problem that they want to drop in the lap of others, such in this case. I have no issue with anyone who decides not to use The Reading Ranch, each child has different needs and not all will benefit from the method of teaching provided by the Reading Ranch. My children have and I am aware of many others that we have met through the year who will also sing it praises. Regarding the ""Blonde"" who owns the Reading Ranch - well I have to tell you, our children love her and do not fuss about having to go to tutoring and that is good enough for me! more

Reading Ranch in Allen, TX & Frisco, TX 12/31/2010

My son has been attending Reading Ranch since May '09. The teachers are awesome! My son, who has a May birthday and struggles with dyslexia, has progressed into a wonderful student and a great reader. Now as a First Grader he is reading above grade level and thinks school is ""easy""! Since attending Reading Ranch, his confidence level has increased by leaps and bounds! He is always excited to go they really make learning fun! My daughter is in currently in a preK program, but we will definitely send her this summer for a few summer sessions! Even if your child is not struggling in school, I highly recommend the summer sessions just to keep them on track! We have attended sessions in both Allen and Frisco locations and the teachers at both locations are awesome!! more

My experience as well as my child's experience with the RR has been a very positive one! The school, curriculum as well as his teacher have been very instrumental in his progress within the past six months of us entering this program. This program came highly recommended from a friend of the family who put her son in their summer program. Everything my son has learned and retained has helped his grades soar from him being a mediocre student to becoming more self assured and assertive within and among his classmates. My son enjoys the sessions and looks forwards to going and I like the repoire between the teacher and myself. In essence, take your child to the RR if they need the help! more

This business has grown in the past few years and seems to be doing well. My husband has dyslexia and I wish there had been programs like this available to him 30+ years ago. more
