Discriminatory and Racist!!! Puppy Mill!!\r \r I waited outside the store when they opened and saw a customer indoors viewing the puppies. My two young children wanted a puppy for Easter and when I knocked on the store's door the man said they were closed and will be open at 11 am. I waited until 11:30 outside and saw that the last customer left and the employer turned off the lights and put a sign in front of the door saying they are closed. My kids were upset so we left. Then I watched from my car and saw that as soon as we left the employer/ owner opened the door and let people in. They screen customer and discriminated against me disallowing me into their store. \r \r What kind of business is this. Is my money no good for them??\r \r But you know what after hearing that many dogs got sick I am glad I never went back. This place is a total piece of Sh*t!! \r \r I feel sorry for those who got scammed at this place. They should be shut down!!\r \r Go in at your own risk, these people are very rude and nasty !! more

OMG I LOVE this place 11/9/2011

We purchased our Morki David here. Great place to deal with. They told us what to do at home, how to train, feed etc. We call them all the time with questions and they are always available. The store is so clean and pups are playful, have food and water all the time and so many toys. We highly recommend this place. more

The ultimate puppy experience!! 11/5/2011

What a great puppy boutique! I stress the word ""boutique"" because this place is unlike any pet store I have been to. I purchased my maltipoo puppy ""Stella"" from RR over a month ago and she has been nothing but a joy. Wherever I go people ask me where I got her because of her unusual color. The store is clean, no doggy smells, the puppies look happy healthy and well kept. Some of the merchandise is expensive but unique. I decided to purchase my puppy here for a few reasons, mainly the cleanliness, overall condition of the puppies, her wonderful personality and dark red color. FYI If you are intending on purchasing a puppy you must sanitize your hands and the youngest puppies are not constantly handled by customers to reduce germs and stress. I found this to be a wonderful concept which makes me believe they only have the best intentions for their puppies. I highly recommend Raising Rover if you are looking for a great puppy experience. My baby Stella is my pride and joy! more

Simply The BEST 9/28/2011

I went to RR to get a puppy after I saw the cutest dog on the street. The owner of that dog told me that he got him from RR. Mine is the cutest morki. The stuff was very helpful and answered all my questions. I called multiple times after the purchase and they walked me through everything. They also give you instructions on how to trains/feed your puppy instead of just taking your money and getting you out of the store. They spend over half an hour on teaching me what to do when I get home. Other stores dont do that. The puppy was very tiny and unique. The accessories they have are also top notch. A lot of bling. I would highly recomend this store to anyone looking for top quality pup. more

Best Store Ever 9/25/2011

This is one of the best stores in NY. It's the cutest store I have ever seen. The puppies are playing with their toys, they are clean and happy. I wish my building would allow dogs as Raising Rover would be the the only store I would go and get a one. Their baby stuff is super cute and unique. It's expensive, but hey it's upper east side! more

Best Pet Store in Manhattan! 8/11/2011

I have to say that this was an amazing experience. I was convinced I shouldn't use a pet store but I really wanted a tiny puppy. I went to every shelter, combed petfinders, and looked in pet stores in Queens and Brooklyn. Those stores were horrifying. I stumbled on Raising Rover and had a wonderful experience. The people in the store really love animals. The man who seems responsible for their daily care was clearly enamored with the pups and they seemed to love him as well. The cages were very clean and the puppies all looked very healthy. I ended up buying a beautiful little Maltese/Poodle mix (Maltipoo). She is fantastic! Very healthy with a calm curious nature. I had a few questions in the first few weeks and I called the store and they were wonderful about giving me advice. They also give two free vet appointments and a 12 month health guarantee! They were also very cost conscious on my behalf, making many price adjustments and suggestions that saved me money. Plus she cost less than any other pet store in Manhattan. And they will work with you. The thing of it is... I know there are lots of unwanted dogs out there but I also knew I wanted a very small dog. And getting a dog at a reputable store that vets their breeders is rescuing a life as well. You are making a decision you have to live with for at least 12-18 years! So if you are going to use a pet store you couldn't do better than Raising Rover!!! more

The Most Amazing Puppy Ever !! 5/16/2011

After a six month search for the perfect ""chocolate"" puppy, it came to an end the day that I discovered ""Raising Rover"". I was shocked to see so many adorable, healthy-looking pups under one roof. I was expecting to have to travel at least 1000 miles to find my ""dream"" pup. But instead, she was right here in NYC. Within one minute of entering the shop, I spotted what would turn out to be my greatest joy. This cute as a button chocolate Maltipoo was jumping up and down signaling me to pick her. She had all of the qualities that I had been intensely searching for the past 6 months. This little girl brings an instant smile to everyone that crosses her path. She is sweet, playful, smart, loving, quiet and was trained within one week. . We are inseparable. At 10 months old, she is all of 5 1/2 lbs of pure love. I wanted to write this review to both thank Raising Rover for having my little ""Chippie"" there the day I walked in and to let others know that they have the most beautiful selection of puppies in NYC !!! . more

DON'T EVER NEVER GO OVER THERE.\r \r THEY ARE WORST PEOPLE EVER AND THINGS THERE ARE VERY OVERPRICED(UPTO 4 TIMES-I HAVE A RECEIPT THAT I CAN PROVE IT AND SOME OF THEM DIDN'T HAVE MANUFACTURED AND EXPIRED DATES ON ).\r \r HERE'S MY STORY.\r I DECIDED TO ADOPT A PUPPY(SAME BREED I RECENTLY LOST) HAVING PRETTY BAD COUGHS WHICH WAS EXPLAINED BY MANAGER AS `KENNEL COUGH' .THEY GUARANTEED THAT SHE WOULD BE OKAY AND IF I BROUGHT HER HOME THE NIGHT ,THEY'LL ARRANGE TO SEE A VET THE NEXT MORNING.THE ANIMAL HOSPITAL WE BROUGHT THE PUPPY WAS DESCRIBED AS `SUBSTANDARD' BY ANOTHER REVIEWER.\r \r THE POOR PUPPY TURNED OUT TO HAVE A VERY BAD PNEUMONIA AND SHE NEEDED TO BE HOSPITALIZED FOR 5 DAYS.SHE STILL THERE.\r 2 DAYS LATER ,I VISITED HER BUT SHE LOOKED LOST AND PRETTY SICK.I DECIDED NOT TO TAKE HER AND WENT TO THE `RAISING ROVER AND BABY'\r AND TOLD THE OWNER(UNABLE TO CONTACT FOR 2DAYS FOR FAMILY EMEGENGY AS PER MANAGER) AND TO GET REFUND ON THE PUPPY AND STUFFS THEY GRABBED FOR ME.THE OWNER `JEFF' REFUSED TO GIVE ME A REFUND FOR THE DOGGY STUFFS WHICH IS CLOSE TO 450$ VALUE ,BECAUSE THEIR MERCHADISE ISN'T REFUNDABLE(HAVEN'T HEARD FROM THE STORE WHEN I PURCHASED ).\r I TOOK THE PUPPY STUFFS BECAUSE THEY GUARANTEED THE DOG WOULD BE FINE.IN THE MIDDLE OF ARGUMENT, HE CALLED ME `BITCH'AND `WACKO' AND GRABBED ALL OF MY RECEIPTS AND PAPERS THAT THEY GAVE ME AND COMMANDED TO ANOTHER WORKER THERE TO KICK ME OUT AND REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANY REFUND AND PAPAERS.\r \r AS SOON AS I CONTACTED TO MY LAWYER ON THE PHONE RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM,HE SUDDENLY CHANGED HIS ATTITUDE AND STARTED TO WRITE DOWN OF REFUND CHECK FOR THE PUPPY AND STILL REFUSED TO GIVE ME A CHECK FOR THE DOGGY STUFF .I GOT IT AS A STORE CREDIT(ONLY HALF OF THEM,REST OF THINGS ALREADY OPENED UP AND USED FOR PUPPY).\r \r AND I FOUND THEY POSTED THIS DOG ON SOME WEB SITE 250$ LESS THAN WHAT I PAID FOR.\r \r PLEASE DON'T GO OVER THERE AND DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM.\r THEY TREAT PUPPIES JUST AS PRODUCTS COULD BE MADE EASILY FROM FACTORY AND REPLACED. AT THE SAME TIME DON'T GO `EAST SIDE ANIMAL HOSPITAL' TOO.THEY BOTH DON'T KNOW HOW TO TREAT ANIMALS BUT USE THEM TO MAKE MONEY..\r \r WORST EXPERIENCE EVER I HAD IN MY LIFE TIME .\r WILL PRAY FOR POOR ANYMALS OVER THERE AND CLOSING THEIR STORE ASAP.\r HE TREATED ME HORRABLLY AND I ALSO THINK THAT BECAUSE I'M ASIAN GIRL AND DISCRIMINATED .I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF CONTACTING USDA AND GOVERMENT FOR RACISM BECAUSE THE WAY HE TREATED ME THAT I'M NOT EVEN A HUMAN BEING.\r \r I WISH PEOPLE COULD HEAR ME AND SPREAD ALL THIS STORY TO YOUR COWORKERS AND FRIENDS SO THAT THEY CAN LEARN SOME LESSONS SOON. more

I highly recommend Raising Rover to any puppy buyer 12/16/2010

I got my 2 pekingese puppies from RR about 7 months ago and they have been nothing but, "" All Good"". Tate and Frieda are a pair of sweet gentle souls with an appetite for flossies. They were clean and healthy from the time i took them home. i love the trainer they recommend, Tammi. They now do some silly tricks and I just love them. more

WOULD NEVER GO BACK 12/12/2010

Traveled all the way uptown in hopes of buying a dog. The place smelt bag, some dogs looked ill and the staff was horrid. Not sure how you are supposed to appear ""serious"" about purchase. I schelped from W.Village to get an attitude and be completely under-whlemed by the site of the dogs. They are kept in tiny quarters and the people who worked there had terrible attitudes. Cannot imagine how their awful energy does not rub off on the animals. Would much rather get overcharged somewhere else. Advertised one price and upon entering the store was quoted a few hundred more. more

Excellent! 10/21/2010

I want to tell you what a wonderful experience we had purchasing our French Bulldog at Raising Rover (Lex@ 94th) NYC. In advance, I had researched the breed but Jeff reassured me of my decision since he knew the breeder was wonderful. Jennifer then guided us as to what holistic foods ro feed our new puppy. She recommended us to the East Side Animal Hospital, 52nd Street) and Dr. Reid who is a professional caring vet. As I said, our experience could not have been more positive. Maybe we should consider a sibling? more

Thank you for a real teacup maltipoo 10/21/2010

we all call my little girl, Teapup. she is a very tiny maltipoo which is exactly what the salesperson Jen told me. Teapup weighs about 3 pounds and she looks like a stuffed animal.everywhere i go people stop me to touch her, I am always carrying her because she is so tiny. at this point she loves her table food and i mix it with dog food because she is so fussy. This is my first pet living on my own and I want to thank Jen at raising rover for taking the time and talking me through all my questions.I love my Teapup. more

Warning! Flees and Parasites at this shop 10/7/2010

I was in this shop 6th of October 2010, me and another lady saw this cat that was in the back of the store that was full with flees and parasites in the ears. We told the people that worked there, which didnt do anything about it....\r \r If the cat has flees and parasites, most likeley the puppies has it too! And I would NOT buy from this store when they are not taking care of their own animals!!! more

The Best Puppy I could ask for! 8/20/2010

After losing my shepherd/husky mix at the age of 15 1/2, he was an amputee for 11 1/2 years, I wanted to go back to a small dog again. I grew up with poodles. After much research and a reference from a friend, I contacted Raising Rover and went to see their puppies with a friend. I was very pleased with the courtesy and accomodation of the staff in finding ""my puppy"". I saw her big black eyes, a maltipoo, and fell in love, and so did she. She is my baby, as I only have a grown child, and she is just a pleasure. I look forward to seeing her at the end of the day and she sleeps with me.\r Thank you Raising Rover for a healthy, happy and beautiful Maltipoo. I couldn't ask for more.\r Penny more

Love Our Puppy! 8/19/2010

In the past 3 years we have lost our 2 Labs.,both of them reached the age of 11 ( by the way were 2 of the best dogs anyone has ever had) We have never had a little dog before. but being that I have my elderly parents around all the time, I could not risk having a large dog jumping on them. So I did my research for a small dog. After much searching, I finally found a good breeder for Maltipoo's . I made my appointment and took off to the upstate area. 2 hours later I got there to meet her and her puppies. I was hoping that I would find my new love there! This breeder had been on a news channel because the news broadcaster had bought her dog there. So I thought how wonderful they must be! Looking at her website I saw a beautiful puppy and inquired if it was still available, she said yes. How exciting! Once I got there she was very nice and let me into her home. She let me in the back and showed me where the puppies were. Lets just say I was a little shocked. There were 5 to 6 puppies in 3 large crate with wire bottoms that had piss and poop all over them and the bottom of the crates.I had bought one of my Labs at a breeder and her dogs had the run of a closed off area and a yard, never in a crate with a wire bottom. Lets just say when the breeder took out the puppies they looked and smelled so dirty, so much so that I hesitated in picking them up. By the way the puppy that I had inquired about had just been taken home, imagine that! She took out 2 puppies for me to see and I asked to see another 2 hoping that I would feel something. No, I had a bad feeling. Once she realized that I wasn't buying a dog right away her whole attitude changed. Okay now I knew I was in the wrong place. Also, from being in the city a lot I had stopped people on the street who had small dogs and a few told me about Raising Rover. So from upstate New York I drove to Manhattan. I called ahead because now I was going to look at a different breed a King Charles , yes they had one. Great. I entered Raising Rover and everyone was extremely friendly. I didn't even say that I was looking for a dog. I spotted the beautiful King Charles. After disinfecting my hands I was looking at these beautiful puppies. Clean, happy and well taken care of.!I never wanted to look at a puppy store, but after that breeder! Well, I didn't get that King Charles because this little black Morkie looked at me and it was love at first site. We bought him the day before Father's day. Its been nothing but a love fest here. What a beautiful, well adjusted health puppy we have! I have never written a review for anything before. But I felt like I wanted people to know that some of these breeders out there have worse conditions then these puppy stores. Just like everything else you have to check around. I walked into some puppy stores and it pains me to see how the puppies are being taken care of. I walked into one puppy store in Manhattan , small place who had about 20 clear plastic , whatever you want to call them and almost every puppy was sleep maybe one was awake. That scared me! How did they get all these puppies to fall asleep at the same time? Thanks Jeff and your staff, you were very helpful to me ! If I were looking for another puppy or knew someone that was, I would be at your front door. Keep up the good work! more

Innocent observations 8/19/2010

I visited Rasing Rover about a year ago while I was in town on business. I initially found it charming and enjoyed finding a specialty shop that I am unable to find at home. \r \r However, after seeing how this owner responds to some of his customers reviews, I have to admit that I am afraid to step foot in that store ever again. I would absolutely NEVER purchase a puppy there because if anything ever were wrong with it, it doesn't appear I would be treated with any kind of respect, no matter how much money I spent. \r \r Its one thing to defend your business practices, but to go as far as personal attacks and derogatory statements regarding previous customers? That is a huge clue toward the integrity of the business owner and is reason enough to remain skeptical of what is being sold. \r \r AIthough I am in NYC often, I doubt I will be back to visit Raising Rover anytime soon simply because of the attitude the owner appears to have toward anyone who may have a problem with what they were sold. \r \r My advice to anyone looking to shop at a fancy UES pet shop is to shop elsewhere or risk the wrath of the obviously unstable owner. \r \r Being in sales myself, I find it such a shame that some business owners just don't understand the value in quality customer service and seek to slander anyone who may have a questionable experience. \r \r \r more

Very Suspicious 8/17/2010

I bought a Morkie puppy from this store 6 mths ago. We adore her but she has many problems from health issues to emotional problems. The dog is adorable and very loving to me but has extreme fear based aggression issues to the point that we can not have company in the house, she can not be around other dogs, I can not use a dog walker because she is so scared to walk on the street that I have to put her in a bag and walk her many blocks away because the minute I put her down she runs home, I have to watch her at all times because she lunges at people as well as dogs - and frankly everyone is terrified of my cute and adorable 6lb puppy. I have spent thousands of dollars already on trainers (private sessions with top NYC dog trainers - she was basically thrown out of a group class because she was too agressive and scared to be in a class) and spent hours and hours socilaizing her from the day I adopted her on the advice of trainers and my vet, leaving work early just so that she could go to puppy play group and class. She has become so bad now my vet has told me that I need to see a vetrinary behaviorist because the dog may need medicine. EVERY trainer I have worked with and my vet tell me that this type of fear agression is genetic so one of her parents had this problem or she was in a puppy mill environment. I called and asked to speak to the owners several times and I never received a call back, despite the fact that I spent over $2,000 at the store with all the extra crap they insisted I needed to buy including a bunch of food she cant eat because she has such bad allergies. All I can say is that my dog is very lucky that I adopted her because many other people would not have the patience, time or money to take care of her like I do and she would just be another cast away and I cringe to think what would have happended to her if she had been adopted by another family that would not have put up with her special needs. I do not fault the owners of this store for my dogs problems assuming they are in fact purchasing the dogs from reputable breeders but I take great issue with the fact that after spending so much money at their store that they could not even have the courtesy to retrun my calls more

A little advice for the pet store 8/16/2010

Hey Jeff and anyone else from Raising Rover... I was just so intrigued by your responses to the negative complaints that I had to sign up and say something. I was searching for a good place to get my dog cut. Everywhere I go they seem to not know what, ""not too short"" on a schnauzer is, so I decided to do research. Of course your store came up. As I read the reviews I was just astonished by the way you respond to people. You want to get the truth out but it makes you sound worse by calling people names and insulting their intelligence. And then to stoop to their level by saying, ""Yes, I love my mommy."" WOW! I am an actual person and not a friend of anyone on here so just trying to let you know that maybe your store should post friendlier replies to the negative comments. You have no idea how many people read your replies and you are not helping your business by replying the way that you are. more

Perfect place for puppies and babies!!!!! 5/8/2010

Contrary to recent reviews, I must say that i think Raising Rover and Baby Ltd. is a great store! Not only is it fantastic just to browse through, but my Pomeranian, Honey (1.5 years), and Yorkie, Peanut (8 months) from Raising Rover! They have been nothing but perfect puppies and always love to visit the store and get new goodies! The staff is also always very friendly and helpful !\r \r I would recommend this store to any fellow UES in a heartbeat! Pros: Great puppies, accessories, and even baby clothes! Cons: NOTHING more

I Love My Tango...A Great Puppy !!!!! 5/8/2010

I got Tango from Raising Rover six months ago and he is, seriously, the best dog I've had since childhood. He was well behaved from day one, as well as peepad trained (which I love because sometimes I don't have the time to walk him). He did cry a bit in the beginning but now he's perfect and it's so funny when he runs on the sidewalk to go for his grooming at Raising Rover. He loves it there, always gets a treat and praise. As long as you have the time for a puppy, I would always recommend raising rover!! \r The vet they recommend, Dr. Manning, was great. The staff is extremely nice and helpful with any questions I have about Tango. Pros: Healthy puppies and Amazing Dog Clothes. Cons: open late,10:30am and they run out of Flossies LOL more
