we joined the fun 5/19/2008

We went to Horus this weekend and we had a couple of drinks and joined the fun! The staff was always very courteous and respectful, which we have found to be a rare thing these days in NYC. All in all, a great venue where you can go eat great food and enjoy good music all under one roof. I would highly recommend it and will make my way back to Horus on Avenue A soon more

Great Service 5/19/2008

I went to Horus last Sunday and I did not expect it to be this entertaining. I was really impressed by the quality of the food. Their grilled and appetizers looked and were both excellent. The place looked Modern and authentic at the same time. Our waitress was very helpful in describing the menu and always timed her visit to our table perfectly. Great service more

WORST PLACE EVER- READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!! 5/16/2008

THE OWNEROWNER GOT KETCHUP ALL OVER MY MICHAEL KORRS JACKET. Cursed out all my friends after my friend spent over a thousand dollars on food hooka and drinks that night!! he punched my friend in the face cursed everyone out and made anti semetic remarks. DONT SUPPORT THIS ANTI SEMETIC MAN. The food not bad but the owner deserves to have his place shut down for good. you dont treat your customers like that. more

I just love this place, it reminds me of my first vacation in Egypt 3/5/2008

The food in this place is very authentic, especially their grilled. I just love this place because it remembers me of my first vacation to Egypt, the food the live Middle Eastern band, the belly dancer, the music, the candles. It?s very romantic, worm, and inviting. I love everybody work there, they are very nice people, and they take care of me every time I go there either by myself or with friends, I go there every Wednesday because they have live middle eastern band, so I just sit back and enjoy the wine and food and of course the music. They are really doing a very good job, excellent, Bravo?.. Pros: very good midddle estern band, food, hookah more

Best baby shower, very good professional place 3/5/2008

I reserve the whole place for my baby shower party. I been to this place before, I was one of Betsey Johnson guests (the famous New York Designer) she had her party there this year, and every year she does a party with a different theme, and this year she wants a Moroccan party, and she invited us to her private party at Horus on A, and it was wonderful, so I went there I told them that ?I was there before in Betsey Johnson party, and I liked the place and what you offer so much, so I decide to do my baby shower with you guys?. We discussed the deal which was a very good deal open bar and open food for my entire guests, and the whole place was reserved just for my party. And we all had a very good time as they gave me one hour extra because my guest came in late, which means a looooooooot to me; they were very nice professional, good music, hot belly dancer and a very good variety of food even for my vegetarian guests. I really thank them to give me the best baby shower party. Thank you guys very much. Pros: professional service, good food, Music more

good place to try out 3/5/2008

i live downtown in the village and i always pass pay this place when i get out from work, but i never enter to it, i just pass near by and i always hear different live music everythime time. so yesterday i decided to enter because while i was passing i heard that somebody is playing the guitar and singing. anyway i enter and it was my first time the waitress welcomed me with a smile, and she seated me, and bring me the menu. they have a very nice menu, and the price are about right. i was hungry so i ordered a lamb kabab and it was very delicious they serve it with many other stuff(side order) so i was eating while enjoying the live band i ordered a hookah, and again i was not disapointed it a very good clean hookah, and they keep changing my charcol without asking them, i just guess they know when it's about to die :) then they bring the charcol. its was really a very good experience and i was missing a lot by just passing by and not enter and check it out, i do recommand you guys to check out this place, good food, drink (wine or beer), nice hookah . plus the entertainment. Pros: entertainment, hookah, food, service, price more

Amazing Place 3/3/2008

Hello everyone well let me see what I can say about this little sweet place. I just graduated on the fall and I had my graduation ceremony this spring and I decided to invite my college friends who graduated with me for a night out to drink, smoke hookah, and eat some Middle Eastern food, so I decide to go to this place Horus cafe on A. we had a great great great night, our servers were super nice and they have a smile on their faces the whole night, the hookah was very tasteful, and the drinks was about right. The place is very nice and not nosy you can have conversation and hear each other, very nice music, and good food. Good job guys keep up the good work and we will come back again and again. Pros: servers, food, hookah Cons: N/A more

the cutest place ever 3/2/2008

hey guys if you wanna go to a cute place then this is the place. before this friday i used to go there on the weekdays because they have live bands. on monday they have salsa live band, tuesday they have two guitarist who play and sing live, and on wednesday they have middle easter live band. it's true i don't understand a word in the middle eastern band because it's in arabic :)) but i really enjoy it LOL, but i never think to go there on the weekends, and yesterday i was like let me check it out on the weekend, and it was a very fantastic night. it's really different, very nice music, Thanks to DJ Samir ;)))). they are very polite, they have the best service, very good looking waitresses, and a very hooooooooot belly dancer. it's a really cute place for smal groups, and saturday i celebrate my birthday on the other Horus on Avenue B and it was a blast too. Pros: everything you can think of more

Very Beautiful Place if you are having a Date with you 1/29/2008

Honestly I disagree with the review that said that it?s a very loud and expensive place. In my point of view, the prices are very good prices, especially with the amount of food that they offer, and the salad and the other few things that it comes with your order on the side. It?s a very romantic place; I like their selection of music and the sound of it, it is not really loud. I was with my date, and it was very romantic ambiance because of the low lighting of the place with the candles inside the walls, and good music. You can have a nice conversation with your date without screaming because the music is loud. The service was very excellent, plus I was lucky when I went on Tuesday because they have a group of two people who played the guitar, very nice. we request a song (Hotel California) and they played it for us, as I asked they have this live band every Tuesday, so If you have a date I do recommend you to go their on Tuesday nights, oh and before I forget they have good hookahs, they serve it with fresh fruit, you should try it too. It?s a very good restaurant and hookah place, it?s really different then the other ones because it very classy, and they have a very nice crowed. Pros: romantic, good food, goodhookah, good service, good music more

Loud, and fairly expensive 1/28/2008

I'd heard good things about this place, and went in. We were the only ones there at the time (a table of about six of us). Not only was the music obnoxiously loud, but the prices were grotesque. In a city where I can pretty much go anywhere to get comparable food or drink (and, for that matter, a hookah), it seems fairly appalling that the management would think to assault its customers with that level of discomfort during the experience. Hookah is meant to be enjoyed slowly; to be lingered over with friends. This place makes it seem like something you burn through and run away from. Definitely give it a miss. Save your money and go to Sahara East. Pros: Waitress was fairly nice Cons: loud, jarring decor, cannot hear your friends, music is tacky, overpriced more

A sad decline for a once great place 1/21/2008

I used to really enjoy Horus Cafe. Nice ambiance, good food, and the best hookah's I've found in Manhattan. Something, however, has gone really really wrong there. The service, which at best was a little slow and disinterested has declined to outright indifference and rudeness. None of the friendly staff I've dealt with in the past (who were at least friendly when they finally got to you to take your order) seem to be there anymore. I'm not the type of individual who demands instant service either, I'm perfectly happy to sit and talk with friends, but Horus has taken slow to new levels. The other huge problem, its Loud. Capital L. Now, I understand the loud music when they have the live belly dancer, then the focus of everyone is on her, but the rest of the time the music is loud enough that you can barely hear people next to you let alone across the table. This is a hookah bar, not a dance club, tone the music down a bit...\r The eccentricities of the place which were previously tolerable for the food and hookahs have become too numerous. I will not be visiting Horus anymore and will search for a new hookah bar in the area.\r \r Give this place a miss Pros: Good hookahs, good food Cons: Awful service, way to loud, they will aggressively rush you out the door if people are waiting more
