Editorial review from Citysearch 4/24/2013

I hope you don't have to deal with this company. Since they have the contract with Tucson PD they have absolutely ZERO care in the world if they help customers. A tow truck driver literally blocked me in a parking spot for over 5 minutes so he could load up a vehicle when he could have pulled forward 25 feet and not have been blocking anyone. When I said I was trying to leave to pick up my daughter he said, ""you will just have to wait."" All their business is from people involved in accidents or arrested, not people that choose to use their services. If you don't want to deal with them, write your congressman about how horrible they are so their contract does not get renewed. more

Tucson needs to drop all contracts with Garys 4/23/2012

My mother was in a severe car accident and taken to UMC. TPD had the car towed to Gary's (it was a total loss). My father and I tried to go to the tow yard to retrieve our items out of the car and they refused to let us in unless we paid $40 dollars. We tried to explain to them our situation but they did not care that we had gone to the hospital first to be with my mother who was in the trauma center. They would not bend or exercise any type of common sense. They tell us to come back Monday. I return Monday because my schedule permits me to make it there and Mike the ""manager,"" was super rude, treated me like I was some sort of stupid Mexican, and spoke to me like I was some sort of crook. I tried to explain to him our situation and he would not exercise any type of common sense. Instead he points his finger at me and starts to give me a lecture. I guess I am supposed to carry my injured mother in on my back rather than me and my mother work something out with Gary's to get her stuff and my stuff. The people at Gary's SHOW NO EMPATHY for people. Management does not provide any solutions for people. If ""management,"" at Gary's was willing to treat me like crap and talk down to me, what makes them think that I would take my poor injured mother in to deal with them? I will be sending in my lawyer in to deal with these people instead and I will be writing the Mayor of Tucson and my councilwoman to encourage a review of Gary's practices and treatment of customers. Not all of us showing up to impound lots are criminals. Not all of us have done something wrong. I was minding my own business when this tragic accident occurred. I would give anything to not have my mother go through this and most everyone I have dealt with in trying to get my mothers affairs in order have been very helpful and understanding EXCEPT the RUDE people who call call themselves ""managers,"" at Garys more

Do Not Use These Guys! 12/14/2011

My car needed towing. I called to schedule a towing for the next morning at 10:30 and was given a quote. They called me half an hour before pick-up to let me know they were headed over, then at the time of pick-up, they call me to tell me they had another ""priority"" pick-up to do and that they'd have to postpone mine until the afternoon. I'd planned my work day around this morning pick-up, but okay. We set up a new pick-up time for 4:30 pm. They don't call me until 5:15, proceed to tell me they don't have ""the right truck"" available and that it wouldn't be until after 6 until it got there, and also tell me that the quote they gave me earlier was incorrect, saying it was actually going to be more than twice of what I was originally quoted. The manager wouldn't budge on the quote, wasn't apologetic, and essentially told me ""too bad."" I agree with the other 11 reviews and just wish I would've seen them sooner. I will never use these guys again and would NEVER recommend them to anyone else. more

Most disorganised company ever! 8/9/2011

I have a car at my house waiting to be picked up this morning and taken to the mechanic. I got home from work and was supprised to see my car still here. I called Gary's Towing to see if they were simply behind schedual and they had no reccord of me at all. To top it off, their schedual is so full they will not be out to pick it up for another 48 hours! If you need your car back in a timely manner, do yourself a favor and push it to the shop... It'll get there faster! more

Gary's towing sucks!!!! Tucson stealers !!! 3/9/2011

This place hires thieves maybe they do not do a background check when hiring their employees. Maybe the owner himself is a liar and a thief. I called this place several times to see if my truck that was stolen is in their tow yard and nobody answers!!! What kind of business is that. In addition to that my brother in law had his stereo stolen from the gary's towing employees, also i had my vehicle towed as well and it was a tpd mistake, and still had to pay fines and fees of course. they just want to keep your vehicle and sell it at there auction. PEOPLE PLEASE CHECK YOUR VEHICLE AND FILE A POLICE REPORT.!!! it may not help because crooked tpd has contract with gary's!! any way good luck ! By THE WAY IF I CAN RATE THIS ZERO STARS I WOULD . THEY ARE NOT WORTH 1. more

CRIMINALS, VANDALS & THIEVES!!!!! 10/1/2010

I HOPE NONE OF YOU HAVE YOUR VEHICLE EVER AT GARYS TOWING. APPARENTLY THEY THINK ITS OK TO USE UP ALL THE GAS IN MY VEHICLE, DAMAGE THE INTERIOR AND STEAL FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. ITS OK THOUGH, THEY'LL GET WHATS COMING TO THEM AFTER I'M DONE WITH EM. EVERYONE AT GARY'S TOWING CAN GO F*** THEMSELVES!! more

Criminals protected by police 6/4/2010

got my truck impounded by police over a misunderstanding (police error) 6 hours later after i paid all the fees i found the truck in their dirt lot with the driver window partially down, the ignition on, scratches and a dent on the fender and door, dead battery, gas door open and the cap loose, greasy glove prints all over the hood, fenders, door and interior including upholstry and steering wheel. It is obvious they worked over the whole vehicle looking for things to steal and when they found nothing they did everything they could to screw the owner. If they ever tow you bring a camera and a phone to file a police report Pros: they didnt steal my car Cons: tried to steal my gas, damaged my fender and door more

Criminals Licensed by the City/County 3/2/2010

It's too bad more people don't read these reviews, like the idiot officials who contracted with them. All I have ever heard from the unfortunates who came in contact with them through their own misfortune or through the actions of others including myself is negative. \r Whose pockets are these guys into? How do they continually get away with stuff that John Q. Public would go to jail for? Oh yeah, they’re in cahoots with county officials. That makes them above the law, uh huh.\r And last but not least, CSMobileUser not only are you borderline illiterate, you would defend them because you were one of them. I doubt you would comprehend a fire hydrant let alone the law. \r Pros: The best criminals I ever met. Cons: We the public get screwed regularly, and not the good way... more

While traveling through Tucson I had an accident. I was hit by a drunk driver. TPD called a tow truck for me and it happened to be Gary's. After I left the hospital, I rented a car and went to Gary's to get my stuff out of my car. I produced proof of ownership and was escorted to my vehicle. They helped me get my belongings and when I went back to the office to sign papers to release my vehicle to the insurance company, I met the manager Mike. He could see that I was shaken up from the accident. He was very kind and considerate and by the time I was ready to leave he had me laughing instead of crying. Thumbs up to Mike and the great staff at Gary's. You are doing an excellent job. Pros: Very nice people more

Towing with a bit of pilfering. 11/28/2009

I had my truck towed in by TPD. I know I did something wrong to have the truck towed. But that does not give them the right to take property out of the vehicle and not return it. I had my new $420.00 business phone in the truck, in a place it could not have fallen out. Well when I got the truck the phone was gone. I called TPD and Gary's no one seems to have the phone. I left it on for a few days so I could get voicemails from my clients, only to have it being used to call gay chat lines internet surfing, and other things. So to protect myself till I got the new phone I had to have it shut down. When I got the new phone I found out that i missed out on atleast three jobs I had bid on. And only God knows how many others I don't know about. I'm sure that TPD did not take the phone, so that leaves Gary's. Oh and to make matters worse the truck was towed at night and the cargo/interior lights were left on. Now I have melted lenses to go with my missing phone, and lost bids. So my experience with Gary's cost me $420+ phone, $57 lenses, and $2500 at least from lost bids, that I know about. With the city contract they can do as they please, because they will not be hurting from the bad experience they give the public. We will be back if we are unfortunate enough to have a run in with TPD that requires our vehicles to be towed. When I got my new phone they had to activate my stolen one momentarily so I called it, and it sure sounded like the counter guy that took my money. Then he hung up and would not answer after that. So bye bye twenty day old phone. That the insurance does not cover for the first thirty days. So now I have purchased a lesser phone, without my contacts, client list, and calendar. Only to give it over to a thief that has no respect for others property, or the property of their employer. Or may be it's the bonus plan to employees to pinch whatever they want from the towed vehicles. And to the one good review i'm glad you are happy with Gary's, I would be right there with you on the good review if the theft did not happen. I believe if things are good no matter the circumstances, it needs to be heard. As a small business owner it's important to get feedback, from the public so I can better serve my clients. All of whom will get the thumbs down from me on Gary's Towing. Pros: none I can remember Cons: not a profesonal outfit more

Missing 8-9 gallons of gas upon picking up my car 10/18/2009

My car was towed by Gary's. I had filled it up just prior to it being towed and had written down the mileage when I filled it up. When I got it back from Gary's, it had just less than 1/4 of a tank. I recorded the mileage upon noticing the gas was missing. Doing the math, approximately 8-9 gallons of gas were unaccounted for. I FILED A POLICE REPORT ON THEM. If you have a similar situation, write down your mileage before they take your car and when you pick it up. If you have gas missing, FILE A POLICE REPORT ON THEM by calling TPD at 791-4444. Cons: ALL more

TSK TSK TSK 8/20/2009

My son had his motorcycle towed by TPD because he couldnt prove on the spot his license was valid. Gary's towing picked up the bike and towed it back to their yard. When i aquired proper paperwork, paid the fine and arrived, we were greeted with rudeness and overall really ugly people that worked in that hole. They did approx 1500.00 dollars worth of damamge to the motorcycle and denied they could have ever been at fault..""Our drivers dont do stuff like that""..i will proceed in a different manner, its not about the money..its about the lying..worst business ive ever seen...cops and tow truck companies...LIARS! Pros: THEY HAVE TOW TRUCKS Cons: THEY WILL DAMAGE YOUR PROPERTY more

In Business With the Cops In More Ways Than One! 8/16/2009

I had my truck towed a couple of weeks ago by tpd for a supposed suspended license...There was another ""licensed"" driver in the vehicle with me, but the cop would not allow them to drive...cop impounded my vehicle...cop said i had to leave my keys...i refused and told him tow guy's didn't need them to tow anything...i rolled the windows up and locked the doors..later that day i found out that NOT ONLY WAS MY LICENSE GOOD (CITY COURT TYPE-O!) BUT WHEN I WENT TO RECOVER MY TRUCK THE NEXT DAY EITHER GARY'S TOWING EMPLOYEES OR THE COP HAD RANSACKED IT! ALL OF MY BELONGINGS HAD BEEN THROWN EVERYWHERE...OF COURSE THE RUDE MANAGER AT GARY'S NAMED MIKE SAID, "" TALK TO TPD...NONE OF MY GUY'S DO THAT."" AS I SEE IT ONE OF THREE THINGS HAPPENED: 1. GARY'S GUY'S WENT LOOKING FOR STUFF TO STEAL, 2. COP WENT LOOKING FOR STUFF TO STEAL, OR 3. GARY'S GUYS OPENED MY VEHICLE FOR THE COP TO LOOK FOR WHATEVER HE COULD FIND..OF COURSE IT SEEMS HAD HE ""FOUND"" ANYTHING ILLEGAL IT WOULD HAVE LIKELY BEEN INADMISSABLE IN COURT, WHICH LEADS ME TO THINK THAT GARY'S GUYS AND THE COPS RANSACK PEOPLE'S VEHICLES AND SPLIT THE LOOT...WOW...NOT SURPRISING... more

Worst company I have ever dealt with!!!! Sleezy Scam artists! 1/15/2009

I never comment on things like this but this situation was so unbelievable I had to let you all know about this horrible business.(If you could even call lit a business) Gary's towing company (5351 E. Drexel Rd.) is the sleeziest, most run down place I have ever been to. They will lie to you left and right and are trashy and completely rude. They are running a scam and will not cover the damages they do to your car. (Which they always will do some sort of damage) My window was broken by them on their property and they will not fix it. DO NOT HAVE YOUR CAR TOWED BY THIS COMPANY. And if your car is towed here get it out of that dump as soon as you can. Pros: No Pros Cons: Scam, sleezy, rude!!! more

GARYS TOWING TOOK MY MONEY AND LOCKED ME OUT WITHOUT GIVING ME MY CAR 1/2/2009

MY CAR WAS RECOVED AFTER BEING STOLEN AND TAKEN TO GARYS TOWING BY TPD. THE RIMS AND TIRES HAD BEEN STOLEN OFF THE CAR. WHEN I APPROCHED THE COUNTER AT GARYS TOWING I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD ONLY PUT ONE TIRE ON THE CAR. HOW WAS I GOING TO DO ANYTHING WITH ONE TIRE. WELL, THEY AGREED TO HELP LIFT THE CAR SO THAT I COULD PUT TIRES IN IT, OF COURSE FOR A FEE AND I WAS TOLD TO WAIT OUTSIDE. IT HAD WAITED FOR TWO HOURS BEFORE I NOTICED THE LIGHTS HAD WENT OUT AND THE DOOR WAS LOCKED. I SAW SOMEONE COMING OUT OF THE YARD AND THE GATE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. I TRIED TO ASK ABOUT MY CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO GET OUT OF THE YARD AND STILL NO ANSWERS OR NO CAR. I CALLED THE PHONE NUMBER FOR GARYS TOWING AND WAS PUT ON HOLD SEVEAL TIMES BEFORE I COULD TELL THEM THAT I WAS STILL WAITING OUTSIDE. AFTER I GOT LOUD AND FRANTIC THE OUTSIDE CAR WAS BROUGHT OUT AND I HAD FOUND WHEN TRYING TO PUT THE TIRES ON THE PERSON WHO TOWED THE CAR HAD BENT THE TRAINING ARMS AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD LOOK INTO THE ISSUE AND THE CAR WOULD THEN HAVE TO STAY FOR ANOTHER 3 DAYS.THREE LONG HOURS PLUS 120.00 DOLLARS AND I STILL WENT HOME WITH NO CAR. GARYS TOWING ACTED AS IF IT WAS NOT A SERVICE THEY HAD PROVIDED THAT I HAD PAID FOR THEY HAD ACTED AS IF THEY HAD DONE ME A FAVOR. Pros: NONE Cons: LONG WAIT TIME, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, EXPENSIVE, ON CONTRACT more
